Chapter Swept Into a Fairytale Marriage 88

Chapter 88 You’re the Patient, I’m the Doctor

After gathering the last of the medicinal herbs, Farrah first stopped by the supermarket to buy groceries since the refrigerator was empty and she wanted to cook him a meal. She also picked up some vegetables.

When Adrian returned home, Farrah was just bringing out the dishes. “You’re back! Wash your hands and come eat. I made some food. Give it a try?”

“Mm.”

After washing his hands, he sat down at the dining table. Farrah had already served two servings of mashed potatoes. “Is Jami coming over?” she asked, handing him the cutlery.

Adrian paused for a moment, looking at her. Did she cook just to dig for information?

Farrah smiled and explained, “Ms. Gray mentioned it in the meeting today. I’m just asking casually. If it’s inconvenient to answer, that’s fine.”

“Yes,” he acknowledged her question.

“How much did it cost to hire him?” In Farrah’s eyes, Jami was a titan in the design world, the most prestigious designer from Bellemont, and a mythical figure in the fashion industry.

Adrian picked up his cutlery and replied softly. “Money can’t solve this; it depends on the relationship. He’s not short on funds.”

Farrah nodded. “Try this? I made sautéed eggplant.”

The simple home–cooked dishes comprising of a plate of sautéed eggplant, along with steak and minestrone soup, created a cozy atmosphere.

Adrian tasted each dish. Since he rarely got to enjoy homemade food, he found it even more delicious than gourmet delicacies.

Farrah sat down across from him. She wanted to ask about Sarah but found herself hesitating, so she eventually restrained herself.

As dinner neared its end, she felt a sense of accomplishment as Arian had polished off everything–an acknowledgment of her culinary skills.

He was truly elegant. He ate without making a sound. His refinement was ingrained in him, and under the soft light, he exuded a warmth that made him more relatable.

Suddenly, Adrian received a WhatsApp message. Upon opening it, he saw that it was from Philip, “Fay made dinner, so you need to wash the dishes.”

Holding the phone, he glanced at the surveillance camera nearby while feeling an indescribable emotion. Did Philip have to watch him so closely every day? Was there no privacy left?

Moments later, another text came through, “If you want privacy, it’s simple–just get Fay pregnant, and I’ll remove the surveillance camera,”

Philip seemed to know what he was thinking as if he were a parasite in his brain. What a perceptive old

man!

The phone rang twice, but Adrian didn’t reply. Farrah, unaware of the sender, looked up from her plate with concern. “What’s wrong? Is it work–related?”

Adrian snapped back to attention, putting his phone down. “It’s nothing. Just eat quickly. I’ll wash the

dishes.”

She paused in surprise. That was unexpected. “It’s okay, you focus on work. I’ll handle it.” She assumed it was a work issue.

Adrian looked up, emphasizing. “I’ll wash them.”

He was even arguing with her about taking on housework.

Farrah thought for a moment before replying, “Alright then. There are only a few plates. I need to prepare the medicine as I’ve gathered all the herbs | need.

He nodded. “Thanks for your hard work.”

His politeness gave her a sense of distance. What she didn’t know was that Adrian didn’t care whether the burn marks on his arm healed or not..

He wanted to test her medical skills to see if she could save his father.

After tidying up the dining table, Adrian went to the kitchen to wash the dishes before returning to the study. He busied himself with work as usual.

Two hours later, Farrah appeared at the door while holding a transparent glass bowl. She knocked softly. “Come in.” Adrian looked up as she walked in.

“Roll up your sleeves. I’ll help you apply the medicine. She placed the bowl of slimy medicine gently on the desk. “Have you finished?”

Adrian closed his laptop. “Mm.” He began rolling up his sleeves.

Farrah stepped closer and started to apply the medicine. The man instinctively flinched slightly. She glanced at him and said, “Starting from this moment, you’re just a patient in my eyes, and I’m the doctor. What’s there to be shy about?”
