Chapter 95 Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fonder
Dorothy was a close friend of Charles. Additionally, she and Joseph grew up together.
When they were still kids, Dorothy felt closer to Joseph.
As time went by, Joseph and Derrick took the Zhuang family off their business. Due to that incident, Dorothy's parents had pressured her to stop meeting with Joseph.
Since then, she grew even closer to Charles. As the two of them spent more time together, people considered them as a couple.
"Yes, Miss Dorothy. Zhuang don't carelessly believe the words of a mere child," Nancy echoed.
Charles simply gave her a cold glance. However, the faint smile in his eyes made her nervous.
With a cold sweat, Nancy felt a bad premonition in her gut.
During breakfast, both kids kept calling Nancy Mommy as if it was on purpose.
The two children had kept her quite busy. As she took one bottle to one child, she also fed water to the other.
"Well, the kids are already full. This one is for you. Please enjoy it."
As soon as the kids finished their meal, they ran off to wash their hands. Charles then put some delicious food in front of Nancy.
A warm smile accompanied his gentle voice.
However, Dorothy felt loneliness and ache deep in her heart.
"Charles, I really enjoy eating braised prawns." Dorothy looked at Charles with warm eyes. Then, she continued with a flirtatious voice, "Do you remember some time ago, I told you how much I was craving for prawns. It was already midnight on a winter night. Darkness and cold winds filled the streets. However, you still drove halfway through the city just to buy me some prawns. Even to this day, I'm still very touched whenever I remember what you did!"
As Dorothy spoke sincerely, tears started to appear in her beautiful eyes.
"That happened a very long time ago that I have almost forgotten about it. How could you still remember such a thing?" said Charles with a frown.
"I will never forget it! When I was abroad, I've missed you so much. All I could do was reminisce about all those sweet moments we spent together. Charles, those days were incredibly wonderful!" As she gave such a sincere remark, Dorothy smiled happily. However, her tears began to fall like pearls.
Her affectionate look was very pitiful!
Nancy sighed in resignation. Immediately, she realized that Dorothy was willing to use their together memories just to manipulate Charles.
Nonetheless, the two of them would be a perfect match for each other.
Dorothy was gorgeous and belonged to a rich family. On the other hand, Charles had all the luxuries anyone could dream of.
Easily, he could provide anything Dorothy wanted.
Additionally, Dorothy might also give Charles what he wanted.
As for Nancy, she couldn't offer anything to Charles. Aside from Nadia, she had nothing.
"Hush now, Miss Zhuang. Here, please wipe your tears with some tissue." Nancy took a tissue and immediately handed it to Dorothy.
"Thank you." Dorothy took the tissue and sniffed.
"Auntie Dorothy, how old are you? Why are you crying? Aren't you embarrassed to cry? Nadia and I haven't cried for a long time. Adults are not supposed to cry. Are you younger than me and Nadia?" Bobby asked as he frantically entered the dining room.
Initially, he had planned to play with Nadia in the garden. However, he suddenly remembered that his mommy was in the dining room. With great concern, Bobby feared that Nancy might get bullied by Dorothy. As such, he immediately ran towards her.
Surprisingly, all he saw was Dorothy in tears.
When he saw her sad face, Bobby asked innocently.
"No, Bobby. I'm just sad. Don't mind me. You're still too young to understand what I'm going through!" Dorothy sobbed.
However, Bobby just shook his head. "Yes, I don't understand. However, I don't like it when a girl cries."
"Me neither!" Nadia exclaimed as she shook her head. Suddenly, she appeared behind Bobby.
The sudden arrival of the two children just made things worse. It was obvious that they just didn't want her to reminisce the past.
Nancy stood up in a hurry. "That's enough, you two. Hurry up and change your clothes. I'll drive you both to the kindergarten." "Okay." Bobby shrugged his shoulders reluctantly. Then, he turned to Charles. "Daddy, aren't you coming with us?" "Unfortunately, your daddy's leg still hasn't healed," said Angelina with a compassionate tone.
"I understand. Please take care of yourself, Daddy," said Bobby worriedly.
"Well, that's a reasonable request." Charles stood up and smiled warmly to Bobby.
"You're hurt?! Charles, what's wrong?" exclaimed Dorothy nervously.
"It's terrible. I'm going to be disabled!" Charles knowingly exaggerated.
"What? That can't be! Is it that serious?" Dorothy's face darkened as her eyes widened.
With great affection, she already liked the power, status, and appearance of Charles. It would be horrible for her if he became disabled.
It might be difficult for a superstar like her to accept such a tragedy.
"Yes. I'm afraid it's a somewhat serious injury." Charles then walked as if he dragged his leg in pain.
As she frowned her eyebrows, Dorothy bit her lower lip. "It doesn't matter, Charles. Don't worry. You'll be fine."
"I do hope so," said Charles as he gave a deep sigh.
Although she was about to say something, Nancy was immediately silenced by Charles's sharp stare.
As such, she just coughed and said, "I want to go back with Nadia. Who will pick up Bobby in the afternoon?"
Since Charles was finally back, it was not appropriate for her to live there any longer. Additionally, Dorothy was also there. The constant jealous gazes from
Dorothy made Nancy rather uncomfortable.
"But I want Mommy to pick me up!" said Bobby obstinately.
"Sorry, Bobby. Your mommy has to go to work. Additionally, she also needs to take care of Nadia. Don't you care that if your mommy is sick because of you?" cajoled Angelina.
"But what about me? Mommy also needs to take care of me!" asked Bobby with a confused look.
"It's okay Bobby. If you ever miss me or mommy, just come visit us," said Nadia with a kind tone.
"Alright. I'll allow you to go out this weekend, okay?" Angelina smiled as she looked at Bobby.
"That's good deal, Bobby. Say yes!" Afraid that Bobby might act rashly, Nancy immediately tried to persuade him.
"Okay, fine," said Bobby with a dejected tone.
"Dorothy, if you're ready to go back, I'll ask the driver to drive you back." Charles knew that if Dorothy stayed at the house, Nancy and Nadia couldn't live there any longer. Dorothy was very difficult to deal with and they might have big fights every day.
Ultimately, their house would be in a turmoil.
They would only provide more news for the media and paparazzi.
"Why are you in such a hurry to drive me away? It makes me sad that you don't want me to be here." Dorothy pouted her petite lips and pretended to be annoyed.
"Don't say that, Dorothy. We have plenty of rooms anyway. You can stay if you want," Angelina immediately comforted her.
"Thank you, Auntie, but I've just come back. I guess
Charles is not accustomed to me yet. As the saying goes, absence makes the heart grow fonder. I think I should go home for now. Charles, can you send me back?" asked Dorothy as she raised her eyebrows. "If you're fine with my disability, I can accompany you home." Charles's tone was flat.
"Don't worry, Charles. I will never dislike you. You'll always have a place in my heart because we were childhood sweethearts." Then, she supported Charles as they walked towards the gates.
"Be careful, both of you. Charles's injury has not completely healed yet." A warm smile painted Angelina's face.
"Don't worry, Auntie. I'll take care of him," said Dorothy with a grin.
"Thank you! That's very reassuring."
Then, Dorothy and Charles drove towards the villa.
In the living room of the Zhuang family villa, Drew Zhuang was leisurely drinking tea.
On the other hand, Sherry Yang was pruning the branches of flowers.
"Dorothy has just stayed abroad for a few years. Nonetheless, Charles couldn't bare the loneliness and messed around with that Nancy. Do you know how many rumors are circulating about that guy? Why is he so calm? That bastard doesn't care about Dorothy's feelings!" complained Sherry Yang as her face grew red with anger.
