Sweet Subterfuge

Chapter 966

Chapter 966
It was a Saturday. Larissa had invited Marilyn to dinner.
Larissa had picked out a three Michelin–starred restaurant probably because this could be the last time they ever saw each
other. She’d gotten a reservation through Gary’s connections.
They met at the entrance of the restaurant.
The moment Marilyn saw Larissa, she embraced her warmly.
“Larissal” Marion examined her face and exclaimed. You look so much better when you’re not working overtime!”
Larissa smiled. It’s the makeup.”
This restaurant was rather particular about dress codes.
Wendy had picked out a long silver dress for her. Her makeup had to match.
It had taken her an hour to put it on. It was vastly dillerent compared to her daily routine which look 10 minutes.
They walked in while holding hands.
Because they were both attractive and had shapely figures, they attracted the attention of many patrons.
“Larissa?” someone exclaimed.
Larissa locked over, It was Allen sitting about ten leel away.
He was probably here to keep his clients company.
There was a man and a woman seated with him.
Judging by their outfits and their temperaments, they were probably important figures.
Larissa smiled politely. She nodded in acknowledgment, not engaging too much with Allen.
Marilyn whispered. “Is that your friend?”

“An ex–colleague.” Larissa replied.
Marissa smiled coyly and said. “But he’s not just that, is he? He looks at you — differenty.”
Ever since that incident. Allen no longer hid his feelings for Larissa in public.
Even a bystander like Marilyn could see the desire in his eyes.
Larissa was merely embarrassed. “We’re just ex–coleagues,” she said.
Marilyn pursed her lips disbelievingly.
The waiter brought them to their seats and left them their menu.
While Lanssa browsed through it, a shadow loomed over them.
She looked up on instinct and met Allen’s gaze.
“Allen?” Larissa was perplexed, “Don’t you need to be with your clients?”
“They can understand me coming over to say hi.” Allen put a hand on her shoulder
The coldness of his palm made her uncomfortable.
Goosebumps trailed on her skin.
She instinctively leaned away from him and put the menu on the table. With a light smile, she asked, “This is my first time
restaurant. What would you recommend?”
this
Allen altered his stance. With one hand on the back of Larissa’s chair and the other on the table, it was like she was enveloped
in his arms.

“Alright. Thanks.” Larissa nodded and closed the menu, asking Marilyn. “Are you done?”

Since Allen’s appearance, Marilyn had been observing their interactions in excitement. Now that her name was called, it took a
while for
her to snap back to reality.
“Yes,” she said. Then, she raised her chin and pointed at Allen, her eyes shining. “Larissa, aren’t you going to introduce him to
me?”
