Chapter 9
Chapter 9
“Finally revealing your true colors
huh?” Sigmund said.
Sigmund’s gaze gradually grew colder. His face was filled with contempt for her apparent
overestimation of herself. He said, “You keep saying it’s okay to get a divorce, yet you’re begging me to go to the Wood family’s residence with you?”
“I want you to come back with me to clarify things,” Becky said. “If you come with me, it’ll also save
you
trouble. If you don’t want to come with me, forget it,” After that, Becky pulled the quilt over, covered herself completely, and closed her eyes to rest.
“I’m going to sleep now,” she added. “Please close the door when you leave.”
Sigmund stared at Becky with a cold gaze.
He was well aware of Becky’s objectives for wanting him to accompany her back.
Becky had become a huge laughingstock to the extent that it even affected the interests of the Wood family.
He was the one who started all of this, but what made Becky think he would help her defuse the situation?
“I can accompany you back to the Wood family’s residence, but you have to pay a corresponding price, Sigmund said.
As he spoke, he pulled back the quilt and approached her.
The woman before him tightly closed her eyes. He could clearly see that her eyelashes were trembling slightly.
Looking further down, the silk nightgown with straps accentuated the beautiful curves partially concealed within the bedding. This unintentionally created a teasing effect.
Sigmund felt a tightness in his throat. His gradually deepening gaze fixated on her beautiful face, which was as pure and radiant as the moon. Her face was without makeup, yet her rosy lips evoked a strong desire in the person looking at her.
She opened her eyes, but there was no longer the gentleness of the past in her gaze. Instead, her eyes were calm. It was even somewhat cold.
“Sir.”
Becky spoke slowly as if they were not familiar with each other. She said, “We are already divorced. I have no interest in playing along with you. If you don’t want to go back, that’s your business. I am just asking, not begging you.”
Sir.

Mr. Moolery.
These were the forms of address she had used to address him in the past two days.
However, Sigmund found it extremely harsh.
“Do you really think you’re something?” Sigmund said. He gazed solemnly at her for about ten seconds. He then deftly picked up the suit he had just taken off and threw it at her.
“Even if I were to sleep with prostitutes, I would still disdain touching you,” Sigmund said.
Upon expressing his thoughts clearly and assertively, he slammed the door and left.
Becky removed the suit jacket that covered her and tucked herself under the quilt, no longer thinking about the moody fool.
At the Wood family’s residence the next day.
On a velvet sofa, an elegant lady could be seen lying on her side and delicately using a handkerchief to wipe her newly manicured nails.
On this lady’s other side, Vania listlessly picked up cherries and put them into her mouth. She glanced at the clock from time to time.
“Mom, why hasn’t Becky arrived yet?” Vania said. It was almost dinner time. Vania, accustomed to having an empty stomach, was feeling hungry. She could not help but speak up. “Could it be that Mr. Moolery is unwilling to come along, so she simply decided not to return?”
“No, that’s not the case,” Sabrina said. She had no such concern. She was focused entirely on her
nail care.
No one understood Becky’s temperament better than Sabrina. As a well–behaved and obedient daughter, she was unlikely to defy her mother.
Vania pouted. She did not share the same thoughts.
“Even if Becky is obedient and well–behaved, so what?” Vania thought. “She has become a laughingstock in the upper–class circles. If she still returns to the Wood family’s residence alone. after the embarrassing incident at the wedding, she probably won’t be able to bear the shame of facing others.”
Although this matter also involved the Wood family, Vania instinctively gloated.
This was because Becky took away her chance to marry into the Moolery family.
“Serves her right!” Vania thought.
Shortly after this thought crossed her mind, she heard a noise coming from the direction of the front door.
“It’s Miss Becky returning home!” The voice of a servant could be heard coming from that.

direction.
Vania’s heart skipped a beat. She thought to herself, “Is Becky back?
“If Sigmund refuses to accompany her, there’s no way she would come back alone.
“Could it be that the situation has taken a turn?”
Compared to Vania’s uncomfortable expression, Sabrina’s face lit up with joy upon hearing the news. She did not bother to continue her nail care. She looked in the direction of the sound.
In the direction of the entrance, Becky, dressed in a snow–white dress, could be seen walking slowly her shoes, her footsteps echoed in the spacious into the living room. As she walked in her small
living room. It carried a strong emotional undertone.
Becky appeared alone within Sabrina and Vania’s line of sight. Her fair skin almost blended with the white dress. She had light makeup, making her look even more like someone who maintained purity and innocence despite challenging circumstances. She was tall and slender, standing gracefully.
However, Sabrina had no interest in appreciating her beauty. To her, Becky’s appearance was nothing out of the ordinary.
“How come it’s just you?” Sabrina said, looking incredulous. She looked around, left and right, before finally settling her gaze on Becky’s face and said, “Where is Mr. Moolery?”
Upon seeing that only Becky was present, Vania’s displeasure dissipated. She calmly looked at. Becky.
Despite being intensely stared at by Sabrina and Vania, Becky remained composed and calmly sat down, placing the gifts she held onto the coffee table.
$
“He had to deal with some sudden matters at the office, so he asked me to bring these gifts to express his apology,” Becky said.
Her fair hands unwrapped the gift bag, revealing the items inside.
Upon seeing it, Vania’s eyes widened in surprise.
She thought to herself, “It’s just a casual gift from Mr. Moolery, yet it is a globally limited–edition designer handbag?
“This limited–edition handbag is not something you can buy with money alone. You have to be on the list of clientele that is recognized by the luxury fashion house before you can make a purchase.
“Mr. Moolery is really generous!”
The other gift was
“equally impressive.
It was a pair of gemstone earrings designed by Oscar, a world–renowned designer. This particular design had long been discontinued. It was considered priceless.

Upon seeing these two gifts, Sabrina and Vania completely disregarded any thoughts about Sigmund’s absence. Their attention was fully absorbed by the gifts.
“From the looks of it, Mr. Moolery treats you pretty well,” Sabrina said.
Sabrina cleared her throat and raised her head to look at Becky, who was sitting.
“Both of you have been childhood friends and have had a good relationship with each other since you were young.” Sabrina said. “He couldn’t possibly have no feelings for you. Indeed, men need the company of their wives to change for the better. Speaking of that incident at the wedding, did
do something that upset him? Now that you’ve reconciled be good to each other. Publicly show affection for each other more often so that others won’t dwell on your past issues.”
you
Becky did not respond to these remarks. Instead, she stared at them with an indifferent expression.
To Becky, Sabrina’s remarks were polite but insincere remarks meant to comfort her.
Becky even found Sabrina’s remarks
Somewhat harshly sarcastic.
Sigmund might have had some feelings for her during the first few years of their relationship. However, he had hardly any affection for her now. The only feeling left toward her was disgust.
Fortunately, she did not have much affection left for him either.
Upon delivering the gifts, Becky stood up, slung her handbag over her shoulder, and turned around wanting to leave.
“Where are you going?” Sabrina said. As soon as she saw Becky getting up and wanting to leave, she immediately stopped her.
Becky did not even turn her head. She said, “Thanks to Brigham, you should have received the benefits that came from the marriage alliance with the Moolery family, right? Apart from reputation, these gifts mean that I’ve fulfilled all the obligations, favors, or acts of goodwill toward the family to the best of my ability. I’ve mentioned that I will divorce Sigmund. From now on, I have no relation with the Wood family. There’s no need to stay in contact.”
Upon hearing Becky speak such a lengthy statement for the first time in front of her, the smile on Sabrina’s face froze.
“What are you talking about?” Sabrina said.
