Submitting To My Ex-Wife by Veromca Luke (Sigmund Moolery )

Chapter 19

Chapter 19

All of a sudden, the atmosphere in the private room was icy.

Many people from the Starry Group looked like they had seen something scary. It was said that the reaction of the people from Miles‘ country was exaggerated, but Lindsay didn’t expect it to be so inflated.

She started to worry about Becky.

Becky was a young girl who was new to the company. Lindsay thought Becky might be scared to cry if she was criticized face–to–face in front of the public.

Miles took a meaningful glance at Becky and said, “There is no problem. It’s just that I think you have a quite unique style.”

As Gerard looked at the expression on Sigmund’s face, he explained to Miles, “Becky is a new member of our group. She is an intern at the company. Although she looks young, her abilities are very good among our designers.”

Listening to Gerard’s explanation, a scheming look flashed inside Miles‘ eyes under his glasses.

He thought Becky would be in a high position in that company, but unexpectedly, she was just an intern.

It seemed that she had not been doing so well since leaving the Starry Group.

Interns were at the bottom of the social hierarchy, so what Becky said was just as insignificant, and no one would even care about interns.

At once, a mischievous interest suddenly appeared in Miles‘ mind, and a faint curve appeared on his lips. In the dim and unclear light, the expression on his face could not even be seen.

But Becky knew very well that this man was getting cocky, and he might already have some disgusting thoughts again.

They looked at each other. He smiled gently and said, “It’s commendable to have such fresh blood in the market. I’m now very looking forward to this young lady’s performance.”

Upon hearing those words, Becky pushed a fake smile on her face.

“In that case, on behalf of our Starry Group, let me toast this young lady first. To show our Starry Group’s sincerity.” As Miles spoke, he had already stood up with the glass in his hand raised.

At that moment, he looked at Becky from a high position as if he was sure of his success.

Perhaps the light was too shiny, Becky felt as if she had been back in the past for a moment.

“I also admire Ms. Wood’s bravery. After all, to join this project as an intern, you must be under great pressure, right?”

Miles pressed on slowly, not giving Becky the opportunity to escape at all.  sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ (F)indNƟvᴇl.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Sigmund’s gaze went cold little by little.

Seeing the clear change in Sigmund’s expression, Ned thought that Sigmund was very unhappy and dissatisfied with Becky, so he also looked at Becky’s motionless appearance with a mocking gaze.

He knew that Becky was well aware of how rare the opportunity for this cooperation was. She must not make the people from their partner company unhappy or dissatisfied at the dinner party.

He wanted to see if Becky, the one who had connections in their company, dared to disrespect their customers and leaders or if she would force herself to drink the alcohol.

The rest of the people from their company also began to get nervous. They were worried that Becky would not be able to keep calm.

The next second, Becky said in a composed tone, “Sorry, I’m not a good drinker. And recently, my body is in poor health. My doctor has cautioned me and specifically advised that I can’t drink.”

She was now pregnant. In this vulnerable period, she could not drink. It was bad for both the fetus and her own body.

What was more, she was asked to drink with Miles. Did he deserve that?

Everyone in the private room did not expect Becky to actually say something to refuse Miles directly

Becky’s colleagues subconsciously looked at Sigmund. They felt apprehensive when they saw the unhappy and cold look on his handsome face.

Gerard began to ease the situation and said, “Becky isn’t well recently. Let’s leave her alone. Let me drink with you instead!”

An insightful senior executive would be truly empathetic and would not force others.

But Miles thought Becky was just a trainee with no power. How could she be qualified to refuse his

request?

Didn’t that mean that Becky didn’t respect him or Sigmund?

Miles ignored Gerard. He turned gloomy, but others could not see his expression clearly because his glasses reflected the light in the room

But it was obvious that he was somewhat dissatisfied with Becky now.

The atmosphere in the private room became awkward for a while.

Ned was originally not satisfied with Becky’s aloof demeanor. He thought Becky was just a woman who entered the company by selling her body. What was she pretending now at such a critical moment?

Chapter 19

This was such an important cooperation. It could not be ruined by her.

After thinking for a moment, Ned spoke in the corner. “Becky, you’ve just joined us. It’s a kind of recognition of you that Mr. Simmons toasts you. It’s probably not good to refuse him directly, right? Moreover, this is a matter related to the cooperation between our two groups, so even if you’re not feeling well, it wouldn’t hurt much to have a little drink, right?”

Some people felt that Ned’s words were right and reasonable. They could not help but nod along in

agreement.

They thought Becky would drink a Rittle after Ned said those words. But the result was not satisfactory for them

Sigmund’s eyes fell on Becky. His long fingers were tapping on the glass in his hand.

He wanted to see if she would ask him for help.

As long as she gave him a look, he would help her.

However, Becky did not even look at him. She just said calmly, “I’m afraid this doesn’t work. I don’t want to refuse Mr. Simmons either, but my body can’t bear it. If I drink a little, I’m afraid my poor health will slow down the progress of the project. So, compared to these, I think the project is more important. What do you think? If something goes wrong, neither you nor I can afford to take responsibility for this, right?”

Lindsay was dumbfounded. Becky was too tough! She actually confronted Ned face–to–face directly.

Lindsay was impressed with Becky. The impact this scene brought to her was no less than the impact she had when she saw Becky’s manuscript after work.

Ned was so choked up by Becky that he could not say anything.

Sigmund, however, suddenly remembered the night that Becky turned pale and was taken to the hospital by him.

Maybe it was the reason that she could not drink?

Thinking of this, Sigmund’s irritation and displeasure because the woman did not even look at him dissipated at this moment.

Miles‘ cycs fell on Becky again and again.

“Ms. Wood, are you really not going to drink with me?” It was not hard to hear that these words. were barely squeezed out from Miles‘ teeth.

Just as Miles was about to show his anger, a muffled sound suddenly came from the side.

The sound was so loud that it shook the hearts and minds of those present.

Chapter 19

When they looked up, they saw Sigmund pressing a glass in his fingers against the table coldly.

He looked up, and his dark eyes were deep and cold.

“Does your company’s cooperation custom require drinking alcohol? In that case…“

He raised the glass in his hand and clinked it toward Miles. The rest of his words were

unquestionable. He continued to say. “Hey, sir. Bring three bottles of vodka for Mr. Simmons. We’ll let him have a good drink today. We’ll discuss our cooperation further after that.”
