“Madam, where were you so late at night?”

“I was meeting a friend.”Please bookmark site novelxo.org to read lastest content. If you want to read lightnovel please visit allnovelnext.com to read fastest content.

“You shouldn’t go out so late at night alone. There might be bad people out there.”

“It’s fine. My friend got her driver to send me home.”

Mrs. Taylor couldn’t help but sigh and pointed at the second floor. “Master Maxwell is drunk and Master

Victor’s men have sent him home. He was so drunk that he attacked them.”

“Oh,” Fia said, recalling how he was when he was at school. He needed to fight at least once a week.

However, he became much more of a gentleman after he became the heir to the Maxwell Corporation.

She suddenly couldn’t remember what he looked like when he fought.

“Are you hungry? Should I make supper for you?”

“I’ve already eaten at Eileen’s place.”

“Alright. Then you should head up and rest,” Mrs. Taylor said before closing the door.

In the master bedroom, the door wasn’t properly closed. A night lamp was left switched on inside.

Fia took in a deep breath before quietly pushing open the door.

She saw the man resting by the bed. He didn’t even remove his shoes or change his clothes.

She went in and took a peek. Originally, she didn’t want to pay him any more attention.

However, she disliked how his shoes would dirty the white bedsheet she had just bought. She bent over, wanting to give him a pair of slippers.

“What are you doing?!”

The man suddenly woke up in shock and kicked.

Fia was so surprised that she lost her balance and dropped to the floor on her buttocks. He had almost kicked her face.

“What are you doing, Conrad Maxwell!”

She was so angry. What would have happened if he had kicked her in the stomach?!

He sat up and then looked at Fia, who was sitting on the floor.

“Did I hit you?”

“Take a guess!”

He looked at her and realized that there was still fear lingering in her eyes.

“I’m sorry. I was half–conscious and someone touched me. I thought…”

“Thought that Esme was going to take off your clothes and rape you?” She yelled out with a harsh tone. A rarity for her.

Looking at him scowling, she continued, “Both of you are the same! Stop acting! Just say it straight that you’re afraid of me raping you!”

“What are you talking about?” Conrad could only feel his headache worsen.

He then continued, “I drank too much in that shop. When I woke up, someone was dragging me out of the car. Victor did it?”

His thoughts were slowly becoming clearer and he stared at her with a judgmental look.

“You asked Eileen to get to him?”

Fia’s expression immediately became cold.

“What are you trying to say?”

“Fia, didn’t I tell you not to get too close to him?” Conrad’s expression turned cold and severe. “Why wouldn’t you listen?”

Fia then sneered and said, “He’s with my best friend. So what if we have some interaction? Before you scold me, why don’t you scold yourself first? I heard that you were dragged out of Esme’s car! What, are you guys playing some games that can’t be shown openly?”

Conrad felt a thorn prick his heart. “What the hell are you talking about?!”

He stood up, pulled her by her wrist, and pushed her onto the bed.

Fia laughed. “What? You’re not done so you want to continue it with me?”

She spoke back to him in a tone filled with disdain and resentment.

Conrad’s vein on his forehead instantly popped, “Are you jealous? Is that why you’re talking about this?

Fia

I suddenly realize that a lot of your reaction doesn’t make sense! Do you like me?”

“No one likes you!” She countered him with her red eyes opened wide.

Conrad stared at her, feeling that there was hate in her eyes…

He couldn’t understand. “Before you married me, did you have someone you liked?”
