Spoiled By My Once Vegetative Husband

Chapter 6

Chapter 6

The temperature in the air seemed to plummet in the silence. Yvette held her breath as she watched the man lying still on the bed.

Her suitcase was placed beside the bed. It stood alone in the large room and looked rather out of place.

The man on the bed was deep in slumber. Judging from his pale and gat face. Yvette could tell he had been bedridden for a very long time.

With a single glance, she knew he was her husband, Joshua Lansford.

Hesitantly, Yvette took one small step forward.

As she came closer to the bed, the man’s face became clearer.

His face looked pretty good despite his current condition. The paleness of his face further accentuated the redness of his lips. Although Joshua was a bit skinny, Yvette could see that the Luxford family took great care of him.

Joshua Lay still. His breathing was so quiet that she could hardly hear it. Had she not known he was still alive, she would have heen frightened by that earlier scene

As she stood by the bed. Yvette observed the man silently for a few seconds. She let out a small sigh of relief when she discovered he could not get up.

There was a white gown on the rack at one end of the bed. Obviously, it had been prepared for her for the night’s ceremony.

The Lusford family did not organize a wedding but they still had to deal with the formalities Once she had put on the gown the entire fandy should understand that she was the bride.

A prin appeared on Yvette’s face as she eyed the gown.

Marrying into the Luxford family and becoming Joshua’s wife was not all that bad. At least, she could feel that the Laxford family cared for her and respected her.

Yvette took the outfit and glanced at Joshua with a frown. When she was about to head to the bathroom, she stapped in her tracks. Instead, she bent over, slipped a hand under the blanket cautiously, and pinched his thigh forcefully

As expected, Joshua did not move a single mascle. He was in an unresponsive, vegetative state.

His lack of response was a good sign to Yvette. She exhaled, grabbed the gown, and got undressed.

Meanwhile, the members of the Luxford family were already gathered in the living room of the residence. They were waiting for Yvette to show up.

“Congratulations, Lauren! You’re going to have a loving daughter-in-law. I wonder when Hendrick’s going to get a wife.” Lauren’s sister-in-law, Ruby Lockwood, held the former’s hands and beamed with happiness, as if her own son was the one getting married.

Ruby’s son, Hendrick Luxford, returned a nonchalant expression and sneered, “Mom, do you want me to be unconscious and bedridden like Joshua?”

Aronce, the atmosphere tensed up. Lauren plucked her hands away from Ruby’s grasp

After receiving a stern glare from his mother, Hendrick said reluctantly, “Congratulations, Aunt Laurent Congratulations to Joshua, tool May he and his wife he blessed with little ones”

Once again, all was silent in the living room. This time, Lauren was trying to sippress her rage.

Everybody knew that Joshua was in a coma. It was sarcastic of Hendrick to wish that his cousin would be blessed with little

Before Lauren could say anything, a noise came from upstairs. Then, Yvette and William descended the stairs slowly.

Her back was straight, and she held her hands together in front of her body. Yvette took each step properly and gracefully, giving off an ethereal charm with her demure appearance. The white gown worn by her complimented her beautiful, petite face perfectly.

Everybody in the living room watched them silently. At that moment, it felt as if they could only hear the heavy footsteps of William and the light ones of Yvette.

Hendrick was unable to take his eyes off Yvette as soon as he saw her, and he held his breath. The young woman had seemed to cast a spell on him, for even his heart had sk ipped a beat.
