Speak To Me

Chapter 80 –

(Gabriella)

I let out a frustrated sigh, my body tossing and turning as every piece of information I just learned settled in.

I didn't know what to think about it all..

One thing I do know though..Daddy is not going to be happy. Grant said Regina had started the fire herself..but was she pushed to do it? If he hadn't gone there to scare them..would they still be alive today?

And everything involving Katrina..that isn't going to be easy to bring up. I definitely don't want to tell Dad about it over text..but I'm not sure I can say it out loud either..I might end up stuttering too much. Maybe Jamie can call him and explain everything...

Glancing over my shoulder, I saw Jamie lying beside me, sleeping deeply with his arm wrapped around my waist tightly.

He didn't seem too angry after getting back from speaking with my brother, so I'm guessing it didn't go too badly. He said there wasn't anything else Grant was hiding and decided to untie his hands so he could stay in the room overnight.. while being watched at all times of course. Rylan and Jolie had tons of questions over dinner and once they learned about everything, they seemed even more shocked than we were. Jamie was still giving Rylan the cold shoulder, but towards the end of dinner, he started to warm up a little more..okay, he looked him in the eyes at least..well, Rylan's one good eye.

I slowly slipped out of bed, trying not to wake Jamie. After standing, I turned and watched how Jamie gripped my pillow and snuggled it in my absence, making me stifle a laugh.

I felt starved for some reason and knew it must've been from our little babies. I didn't want to wake Jamie considering everything he had been through today. Even though he acts all tough and strong, I could tell he was exhausted..not just physically but mentally too. After going to bed, he ended up falling asleep with his head pressed against my stomach as he held onto me tightly.

I slowly made my way to the kitchen where I set my gaze on the leftover chocolate cake we had for dessert..it was amazing.

It actually reminded me of one that our old cook made when I was younger. It was when I was eleven and my dad was able to come home for my birthday last minute. Regina of course didn't have anything planned..so when my dad came home to surprise me, he was shocked to find me locked in my room with no presents or even a cake.

Regina of course told him it was my choice..that I wasn't feeling well enough to celebrate and they were going to do it another day..I'm not sure if Daddy believed her completely because he asked the kitchen staff to make me a cake last minute.

It wasn't anything fancy, but it was the best cake I had ever had..and it was one of the few I ever had.

"Couldn't sleep?" Jolie suddenly spoke up out of nowhere, making me practically jump out of my skin.

I slapped my hand to my chest before whirling around and looking at her.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." She laughed as Sawyer peeked around the corner worriedly.

Yeah..Grant wasn't the only one being monitored all night. When I came out of the room, Sawyer was there to greet me.

"I-I j-just got h-hungry." I said sheepishly while pointing to the cake.

"Ooh, let me get the plates." Jolie said excitedly as I smiled over at her.

"I don't even know how Rylan and Jamie could be sleeping right now." Jolie mumbled while walking over towards me.

"I mean..Rylan might have a concussion..but I thought Jamie would be pacing the house all night..I'm surprised." She laughed, making me join in as I nodded.

"Especially considering the situation.." She whispered, her eyes darting down to my stomach as I swallowed hard.

"S-s-situation?" I stuttered, my cheeks warming as my eyes went wide...she wasn't talking about me being pregnant, was she?

"I heard Jamie last night.." She explained, causing me to look down at the cake that was now sitting in front of me. I didn't think she heard Jamie talking about the babies.. "I-I-I.." I began, feeling flustered as Jolie suddenly reached over, gripping my hand.

"Hey..I know..I understand. I just wanted you to know that it's okay..and I'm really happy for you. Like super super happy.." She said with a sweet smile before squeezing my hand.

I blinked my eyes rapidly, her words surprising me as she suddenly stood and gave me a tight hug.

"You are going to be such a great mom." She whispered, making my heart swell as I felt my emotions rising.

"J-Jolie..th-thank you." I choked out, prompting her to pull back and smile at me warmly before plopping back into her seat and grabbing a fork.

"Remember, you're my best friend now. I'm always here for you no matter what." She reassured as I nodded my head eagerly before grabbing my own fork now and taking a bite of chocolate.

"So..your brother huh..do you think he's single?" Jolie suddenly asked, making me slap my hand over my mouth before a burst of giggles exploded out of me as Jolie laughed along.

We ended up finishing off the cake and I learned a few more things about Jolie that I hadn't learned yet.

I guess she took ballet when she was a small child and was even thinking of making a career out of it, but instead, she started working for her parents in the restaurant chain they owned. She is a member of the marketing team now.

I didn't know half of what she was talking about but I listened eagerly.. It's so strange having a friend..it's a feeling I never knew before..like Jolie could make me laugh so easily, and I loved to make her laugh too.

Considering Jolie is the same age as Jamie, I guess her parents have been pressuring her to start settling down. She said her mom had been setting her up with her friends' sons and she has been avoiding her calls lately.

She also told me about a huge event that was coming up, one where Sinclair Industries holds a charity ball and welcomes all of its investors to join. Jolie spoke about part of the evening where all sorts of items would be auctioned off and all the proceeds go to the charity. There is even a part of the evening where the first dance could be auctioned off for single attendees who want to participate.

Apparently Jolie's mom made her join every year. She didn't seem too thrilled about it.

Rylan and Nolan would also be roped in to participate.

"I swear it becomes some type of challenge between the guys...to see who would get bid on the highest. Of course, Jamie would win..but now that he is married he doesn't have to participate. Lucky jerk.." She muttered, making me chuckle.

"My luck some sixty-year-old pervert will bid for me." She grumbled before stabbing the last bite of her cake and shoving it into her mouth. We really devoured that thing..

"D-don't w-worry..I w-will bid on y-you if th-that happens." I said, making Jolie perk up as she clapped her hands together a little too loudly. "You are such a lifesaver!" She squealed and that's when a deep voice suddenly spoke, making both of us scream.

"All right you two, time for bed." Jamie said in his sexy deep tone as my body shivered in response.

I looked over at him sheepishly as he pushed from the wall and went to take my hand.

"You are in trouble princess." He whispered against my ear and I knew it was because I left the bed without waking him..

Well, lucky for me that's just what I want..

With these hormones..I don't mind being in trouble, not one bit.
