Speak To Me

Chapter 57 –

(Jamie)

I sat with my elbows digging into my knees, my head hanging down as I bounced my leg up and down anxiously. Four fucking hours..that's how long she has been apart from me and I was losing it. More than once I stood up and marched to those doors only to let out a frustrated groan and turn back around.

I was ready to beg on my damn knees..I wanted to plead for forgiveness and just feel her beneath my fingertips..

I wanted to look in her eyes and show her I mean it..that I will never lie to her again. I learned my lesson this time..I will never make that mistake again.

Suddenly a loud beeping began going off, making my head snap up as I saw a few nurses running into the room.

"We have a code blue here!" A woman yelled as my eyes widened. Code blue..isn't that bad?

That's when I saw my dad come from the hallway, waving me over.

"She started having a seizure, they think she is going into cardiac arrest." He rushed out and without even letting him finish his sentence, I took off running down the hall.

That's when I saw Gabriella, her eyes were wide and filled with tears as her dad began arguing with a nurse.

"Gabriella!" I cried out her name, watching as her head turned towards me and all of that anger from before was nowhere to be found..instead I saw fear.

I rushed towards her, my arms circling around her small frame as she wrapped her arms around my waist and began to cry.

"Katrina! No, please God no. Do something!! Do something to save her!!" John wailed, prompting my dad to rush up to him and help a security guy drag him off. He was making the whole situation that much more stressful.

"Come on baby, let's go wait over here." I whispered to Gabriella as she clung to me tightly. I eventually lifted her up, feeling her legs wrap around my waist as she buried her face in the crook of my neck.

"I'm so sorry." I spoke softly, trying to console my wife as her tears soaked through my shirt.

"They will try everything they can okay? They will do their best to help her" I tried my damn hardest to stay positive but the fact that a few of the staff walked out with their heads down..it didn't look too good. "J-J-Jam-mie." Gabriella choked out, her head lifting up as she met my gaze.

I couldn't help but wipe her tear-stained face, my heart breaking at the sight of her.

"What is it, baby?" I asked gently, hearing her hiccup as she bit her lip anxiously.

"M-m-my D-d-da-d." She stuttered, and I knew what she was saying..I knew she didn't want to leave him alone.

"He can stay with us for as long as he needs to okay?" I whispered, watching as relief flooded through her before I bent forward to kiss her. But before I could meet her lips, she stuck her hand up, stopping me and making me frown. "Y..you're still mad?" I asked sadly, prompting my wife to nod her head as I felt my shoulders slump.

I was about to set her down, but before I could, she nuzzled back into the crook of my neck and held onto me even tighter..

Well..I can deal with that..at least she is still letting me console her.

"I love you princess." I whispered while kissing the side of her head and inhaling her sweet floral shampoo... Fuck I missed her so much.

"Let's go check on our dad's." I stated, walking with Gabriella still latched onto me as we passed by a few staff remembers.

Then I went in the direction of where John and my dad went. For a moment I thought about the fact that my dad was still here..how he had really stepped up and has been even more supportive than ever before.

And walking into the room, seeing him holding John and letting him cry..it made my heart clench..not just for John and how much he lost..but because of the way my dad looked at me, and that sorrow he held in his own eyes.

Gabriella finally pulled away before turning to look at her heartbroken father.

I gently set her down, hesitating to let her go but finally did after she squeezed my hand gently.

Then she walked to her father and fell to her knees in front of him.

My heart ached the moment John embraced her and then I watched on in amazement...witnessing this new side of my wife that I hadn't seen yet..something even more gentle than before surpringly..I didn't think it was possible for her to get any sweeter..well, I was wrong. I watched as she stroked her father's hair, her movements soothing and calm as John began to stop crying.

Both Gabriella and I knew that Katrina must have passed..we could see it on John's face.

After twenty more minutes, Gabriella stood up, her hand reaching out as she helped her father and signed something to him. Then she glanced towards me and nodded once.

I followed behind quietly, watching the way Gabriella moved so calmly. She was holding her dad's arm and then they went into Katrina's room.

There were still a few staff members hanging around as they turned off machines and disconnected them from her body.

"Can we have a moment please?" My father asked, alerting the staff of our presence.

John stumbled to his daughter's bedside, those tears returning once again as I was about to back out of the room and give them some privacy. But before I could, Gabriella reached for my hand and pulled me to her side.

We stood there in silence for who knows how long until John finally stood. His mouth kissing Katrina's bandaged head before he let out a shuddering breath.

"I'm ready to go." He whispered, making my dad step forward.

"Okay, if you like, I can stay with you.." My dad began before I spoke up.

"No, he will be staying at our home." I stated, making John glance between Gabriella and I.

"It's fine...I can just.."

"We insist.." I said more firmly, leaving no room for argument as Gabriella walked up to her dad and took his hand before pulling.

"I will have Ray bring the car around."

I walked out of the room and dialed up Ray.

"Yes Sir?" Ray answered.

"We are ready to leave, John Kensington will be staying with us until further notice. Please call Maria and have her get a room ready for him. Also, has there been any news?" I asked, knowing they were going through some local footage from security cameras as neighboring homes. "Yes Sir, there was footage of a car. It drove by the home early in the morning. I will send it over in a little. And..well..if you don't mind me asking.." He began to mumble, surprising me.

"Yes?" I asked curiously.

"How is Mrs. Sinclair?" He finally asked, making a smile pull at my lips. Ray really has warmed up to her.

"She is doing okay..maybe have Maria pick up some of that ice cream she likes..oh, and roses..lots of roses..no wait, hydrangeas..she loves those." I added, realizing I was still in trouble..I know it won't fix everything..but at least it will be something. Besides... it will help brighten up the place during this dark time.

"Okay, and sir, I'm sorry about.." Ray began, making me interrupt him.

"It's okay Ray, just a warning next time would be nice."

And with that we hung up..I wasn't mad at Ray..I know it wasn't an easy situation..but Jolie..now that one I'm a little annoyed about.

I know they are becoming friends..but I hope this wasn't some type of ploy to make Gabriella upset..I'm probably over thinking it..but I just can't help and be on edge about fucking everything.

I turned to walk towards the room when someone suddenly bumped onto me, making me stumble back slightly.

I let my eyes wander up until I was met with familiar blue ones..but they weren't my wife's..in fact, this was a fucking dude..the similarities were uncanny though..

"Better watch where you are going, you never know who you might run into."

The man said smoothly before slipping his hands into his pockets and walking away...who the fuck was that guy?

I couldn't help but stare after him until he rounded the corner as that feeling began to rise up once again..that gut one that is never fucking wrong..

Whoever that man was..those words he just spoke to me meant a lot more than they appeared..but just who was that man who shared the same eye and hair color as my wife?
