Speak To Me

Chapter 137 –

(Katrina)

I smoothed out the yellow dress that Grayson had bought me, the soft fabric gently brushing against my skin as I let out a deep breath.

Daddy asked if I wanted to have dinner downstairs this evening..since it's his last night here before he has to go back to New York, I thought I would give it a try. Now that most of my burns seem to be starting to heal, it's been a lot easier for me to move around and do things that feel somewhat normal. I still can't walk yet..but I can use the remote on my own, grab my water off of the side table, and even feed myself now. Since my hands were badly damaged, the doctors were a little worried I would have nerve damage, but it seems that isn't the case which is a huge relief. Grayson of course tries to get me to do everything on my own..well, the things he knows I can do at least. He is always trying to push me to keep working at it until I get frustrated and end up throwing the item at his head..which he seems to enjoy a little too much now that I think about it. But he has been my biggest cheerleader through all of this..and I don't know how I will ever repay him truthfully..

Next week the physical therapist will be coming in to check my leg mobility and strength. I can put weight on my legs now and walk to the bathroom with heavy assistance..but I know there is still a long road ahead for me and my recovery. "I had a feeling yellow would be your color."

Grayson's deep voice echoed through the room as I turned my head towards the door. There he was..leaning against it with his hands tucked away in the pockets of his tan dress pants..surprisingly, he had on a yellow shirt on too.. "Did you match with me on purpose?" I asked, making him smirk as he pushed off the door frame and came striding over.

"I think you already know the answer to that. I mean..any chance I can get to annoy you..you know I will take." He teased, making me roll my eyes as he let out a soft chuckle.

"Kitty Kat..you know what rolling your eyes does to me.." He warned, and I just brushed it off..Grayson has to be the biggest flirt ever..because why else would he be acting this way towards me? He must be like this with everyone..right?

Suddenly Grayson stepped in front of me, his hand reaching out as he reached over and gently fixed my stocking cap. My hair wasn't exactly growing back yet..so I usually wore a hat.

"You look beautiful." Grayson whispered, causing my stomach to flip as I just stared down at my hands nervously. I wasn't a stranger to guys giving me attention in the past..but the way Grayson does it..and especially with how I look now..it makes me feel all sorts of different things I can't explain.

"Aren't you going to comment on how handsome I look?" He asked, bending down closer to me as his pretty face was now right in front of me.

Grayson was one of the most beautiful people I have ever met. His soft features and lightly tanned skin made my heart flutter every time I was near him..he honestly looked like he should be in a boy band..and he would definitely be the heartthrob if he was. "You..you look handsome.." I managed to spit out, feeling flustered with how close he was.

Grayson just smiled widely, revealing his perfectly white teeth as he stood back up.

"I know." He responded, making me frown now.

"Well..if you know..then why did you make me say it?" I grumbled, feeling annoyed with him now.

"Because it sounds much better coming from you." He added before winking at me and turning to grab my wheelchair from across the room.

"We better get a move on, my brothers are probably talking your dad's ear off by now." He mumbled and pushed the chair towards me.

"Oh, they were able to make it after all?" I asked, knowing all about his brothers from what Grayson had told me.

They are in college right now and are actually twins. But he says they couldn't be more opposite. I was kind of nervous to meet them honestly..but they have to be used to seeing people like me considering this is a burn recovery center. I never fully learned how this house came to be

one.

I tried to ask Grayson about it but he ended up having to take a call and it never came up again. I wondered if maybe they had a family member who was a burn victim perhaps..or maybe they were just kind people.

I can't help but feel guilty for the way I had lived my life previously..if I had known this was how it would end up..I know for a fact I would've done so many things differently.

"Ready beautiful?" Grayson asked, coming to my side as I nodded my head.

He gently wrapped his arm around my waist, letting me hold onto him as he slowly helped me up.

"See, you will be walking in no time. I just know it." Grayson whispered, making my cheeks warm as I tried to keep my cool. I just nodded in response, feeling my stomach flip as he smiled down at me sweetly.

"Now..don't start looking at me like that Kitty Kat..you are going to make me do something you might not be ready for." He suddenly said, causing my eyes to widen as he continued to hold me..his words completely caught me off guard.

Before I could even say anything, a soft knock sounded on the door before gently opening. That's when one of my doctors, Diana, popped her head through the crack.

"Just checking to see if our girl needed any help." She said sweetly, making Grayson turn his head away from me and smile at the older woman.

"Nope, all good. You can just tell John we are on our way down now please." Grayson responded as Diana glanced between the two of us, smiling softly as I looked away in embarrassment.

"Did that make you shy Kat?" Grayson asked the moment Diana left.

"What? No..of..of course not." I grumbled, trying to move my legs as a sharp pain shot through me, making me wince.

"Are you okay? Do you need some more pain medicine before dinner?" Grayson rushed out and I just shook my head no, letting him put me into the wheelchair.

"I'm just a little stiff. Besides..those make me sleepy."

"Well, we wouldn't want that now would we..you are the guest of honor tonight and we need you to be awake to entertain us peasants."

"Why are you so extra?" I muttered, causing Grayson to let out a booming laugh before gripping both sides of my wheelchair and kneeling in front of me.

"You know you love it. Now, when we go out there..you better not be flirting with my brothers or anything..you don't want to make me jealous.." He added playfully while fixing the bottom of my dress. "Whatever Grayson..like that will happen."I laughed dryly, feeling flustered all of a sudden.

"Good, I like that attitude..keep it up." He responded with a wide smile before standing and going to walk behind me.

"Because if any of us Easton boys get to flirt with you..you know it better be me."

And with that, Grayson pushed me out into the hall..making my stomach flip a good fifty times as I tried to act natural..

Did he not realize what he was doing to me? Jeez..let's hope I make it through this dinner..

I have a feeling his brother's might be just as charming as he is though..
