Soul Sucker

Chapter Battle of Brunanburh

Frances Dortmund’s POV

Near modern-day Bromborough, England

937 A.D.

I waited in the King’s tent for his return. He was not a victim, at least not of more than my beauty and sexual prowess. No, I’d learned to use my talents for good and evil in the ninety years since I’d made my deal. Sex with me could be the carrot or the stick.

I’d spent the last century in a quiet war against the Vikings, and victory was within my grasp. The Northern kings in Scotland and Ireland had allied themselves with the Norsemen against the Anglo-Saxon kings of the south. Right now, a few miles to the north, three kings and their armies were dug in like ticks on a dog. I cursed their names as I waited, the small fire outside the tent barely lighting the space.

With my sharpened senses, I could see everything. My hearing picked up the approach of my King and his escort. Sitting up, nude in the furs, I prepared a glass of wine for him. Moments later, the guards opened the tent and King Athelwin strode inside. “The battle is near, my Lord?”

“In the morning,” he replied.

I stood up slowly, ensuring his eyes were focused on my body. Athelwin was the younger brother of the King of England, and my path to power. I’d been his mistress for two years now, using my powers of suggestion and targeted killings to advance my cause. My generous bosom jiggled as I stood. I held out the goblet of wine. “Drink, my Lord, and let me take care of everything.”

Never had I seen him so distracted; the coming battle was heavy on his mind. I removed and folded his cape, then removed his clothes and boots. He’d finished his wine, setting it down just before I freed his hardening cock from his breeches. I kissed the tip, then licked around the head before taking him into my mouth. “Sit back, my Lord, and let the cares of this world go on without you.”

He sat on the chair, his legs spreading open as I moved between them. He tasted salty from the sweat of the ride and the long day. I felt him relax as I licked his shaft, then covered his bulbous head with my mouth. After a few swirls of my tongue and a flick of the tip across his slit, he relaxed into the cushions.

Men are so simple, I thought as I took him into my throat. Show them your tits, suck their cocks, and swallow their seed and they will do anything for you.

You’ve had thousands of men at your mercy, and many hundreds have died filling your womb, the demon responded.

I’d found others to feed the demon. This King was a good man, and I loved him. This one must fight tomorrow, I replied. The King’s cock was hard as armor now. I looked into his eyes as my throat hummed around him, driving him wild. If I kept it up another minute, I’d have a mouthful.

He wanted more, and I rose as he grabbed my shoulders. “Ride me, Lady Northard.”

“With pleasure, my Lord.” I turned around, bending slightly at the waist. I reached back and guided his cock into me as I backed down. I was wet and ready for him, taking his shaft in one slow movement. When my ample ass cheeks hit his lap, I started to squeeze my pussy around him, milking it as I sat still. He reached around, grabbing my tits as I began to rise up.

The tent filled with the sound and the scent of our coupling as I picked up speed. He started to grunt and strain, holding back his orgasm. “Fill me, my Lord,” I begged him. “Give me a son.”

“No,” he said. He pushed me off, spinning me around and grabbing my hair. He pulled me down, and I covered his cock with my mouth as his orgasm hit. The thick load filled my mouth, and I sucked until I had it all. When he finished, he slumped back against the chair. I opened wide, collecting the bit that leaked with a finger before swallowing it all. I cleaned his cock and balls before rising to fetch his sleeping clothes.

He moved to the sleeping pad, waving me in after he was under the furs. I slid in next to him, my naked body against his side. “Do not be disappointed, my mistress. When my brother and I win this battle, everything will change. My brother will arrange a Queen for me. She will share my bed and bear my heir, for that is her right. You will still own my heart.”

“You must fight well, my King. Destroy your enemies and return to me.”

“You may count on that, my love. Now, rest. Tomorrow will come soon enough.” He was right; I listened for him to drop into sleep, then joined him.

Before dawn, I woke him with a kiss. We made love, both of us knowing he might not return. When we finished, I helped him dress in his armor. “Wait here for me, and follow the instructions of my bodyguard,” he said as he lifted my chin to look into his grey eyes. “I’m leaving a trusted man to protect you. Obey his directions as you would my own.”

“Yes, my Lord. Fight well, and may God protect you.” He turned and left the tent, leaving me alone to my thoughts. I didn’t love him, but I’d used my money and body to push the Kings to unite against the Norsemen. I stayed in the tent as the armies marched off to battle.

I dressed in my riding clothes, then exited the tent to find my guard waiting. “My Lady? You should wait in the tent for the King’s return.”

“Nonsense. Prepare my horse. I will watch my King destroy his enemies.”

“My Lady, the King…”

“The King told you to protect me. We will be on horseback, able to exit the fields if the battle turns against us. Today is his moment of glory, and I will NOT miss it.” I put a little of my succubus power behind my words, and he capitulated.

We followed the rear elements of the Anglo-Saxon armies, stopping on a hill overlooking the battlefield. “Who is against us?”

“King Olaf of Dublin, Constantine the King of Scots, and King Owen of Strathclyde.” I could see their armies in the distance with my enhanced vision. The enemy had prepared the field, digging timber-reinforced trenches in the fields. Their defenses held back the initial charges of men and horse, and protected them from arrow fire.

Wave after wave of men rushed forward as the sun rose in the sky, and each time they staggered back with their wounded. It was late afternoon when I spotted King Athelwin’s horse retreating from the lines.

His body lay over it.

I fell to the ground, mourning my loss as my guard stood over me. His attendants carried him into the tent, where his body was cleaned and dressed in royal robes for burial. I stayed with him until he was ready, then went to check on the battle.

The first man I'd loved since my husband was gone.

He was not the only King to fall that day as the fighting continued towards the setting sun. When the armies of the North finally surrendered, King Constantine fled the field, and the Viking King escaped by boat. Four other Kings and seven Earls fell in the fighting.

I slipped away in the darkness. The mistress of a dead King had no political power, so staying was pointless. The battle evicted the hated Vikings and allowed King Althelstan to unite the land under English rule.

I rode south along the coast in the moonlight. I needed distance between me and the stink of blood and death.

It took two days to reach my country estate near Liverpool. There, I had my fortune and a different identity.

Lady Northard was no more.
