Singularity

Chapter 49

Ciara did just as Derek requested. After finishing supper he insisted she go to bed without getting to help with the clean up. She crawled under the covers and closed her eyes. She felt like the room was spinning. It was hard to focus on even breathing. She tried to concentrate on just one thing to force her mind to let go. Michalei…

Ciara opened her eyes and saw him there, hovering over a pile of paperwork. He looked up not at all surprised to see her. Then his eyes narrowed as he watched her sway for a moment. He jumped over the desk and caught her in his arms.

“Talk to me Ciara,” He begged as he shook her. “What’s wrong?”

“I don’t know.” She nearly cried. “I’m barely hanging on here.”

“Tell me exactly what you did before you were here.” He said as he made her sit down.

“I had dinner took my anxiety and sleeping pill and lay down.” She replied.

“Ciara,” He whispered. “What has he done to you?”

She could see the tears in his eyes, “What do you mean?

“You have to stop taking those pills.” He insisted. “When they build up in your system you won’t ever be able to return to me.”

“I didn’t want to. I thought they would be bad for the baby. But he insisted.” She said.

Michalei recoiled, pulling away from her, “By the goddess, no.”

“Michalei,” She whispered.

“You’re with child.” He forced himself to smile.

“I am,” She replied. “What are you not telling me?”

“It’s not my doing.” He smiled.

“Can you fix it? I know I’m not crazy.” She swore.

“I know you trust me right now but our past is questionable.” He sighed as he took her hand and kneeled before her.

“I don’t care Michalei. I can’t live like this anymore.” Tears fell down her cheeks.

“Everything I have done was because I love you and I wanted to protect you Kira. You have to believe in that.” He said.

“I have heard that name before.” She said quietly.

“It is who you are. I want you to remember. Whatever the cost.” He replied.

“Then do it.” She insisted. “Make me remember.”

“Come with me.” He held out his hand.

She took his hand willingly as he explained. “You were bonded by blood to the man that is your husband. I can break that hold he has over you. It might be enough to give you a fighting chance at regaining your memory.”

“Alright,” She sighed. “How do we do it?”

In a flash Michalei took Kira to the ceremonial chamber and said. “We have to form a new bond to separate him from you.”

She looked around confused at how quickly things around her had changed, “It’s alright,” He said.

“I will not hold you to it once it has been done. You have my word Kira. You deserve to be free.” He said.

“Tell me what to do.” She smiled.

“Stand with me.” He said as he positioned her before the podium.

He placed a bowl between them and then said, “Do as I do.”

He pulled out a dagger and sliced open his left palm. As it dripped into the bowl he spoke the words.

“Blood of my blood, soul of my soul, I give you this offering to make us whole. Two become one, infinite as thee. Together forever so mote it be.” He handed her the dagger.

“Your turn.” He said.

She sliced pen her palm and repeated the words. “Blood of my blood, soul of my soul, I give you this offering to make us whole. Two become one, infinite as thee. Together forever, so mote it be.”

“Well done, one last time now.” He joined hands with her over the bowl. “Say it with me.”

They chanted in unison one more time. Then Michalei took the bowl and poured it into the foundation at their feet. As the blood soaked in she could feel something had changed. Then the pain in her stomach took her to her knees.

“Not yet Kira. You must fight it.” He urged.

“I can’t,” She whimpered.

He raced to her side. “Stay with me damn it.”

Michalei kissed Kira with an intense passion. She wasn’t able to think of anything else as his desire poured through her. She put her arms around him, safe in his embrace.

“Make love to me Kira and be free from all that binds you.” He whispered in her ear.

“Yes,” She whispered in return. “Take me as yours.”

Michalei needed no further encouragement. He wrapped his arms tightly around Kira and returned them to the bedroom. As he lay her down she eagerly gave into him feeling the power wash over her like a calming wind. He exploded within her like sparks of a wild fire. She responded just as intensely as her nails dug into his spine. He fell next her breathing heavily. As she looked into his eyes he smiled at her.

“You are his no more.” He said brushing the hair from her face. “Nor are you mine. What I have taken from you I return to you. Be free Kira.”

“Michalei,” She whispered with tears in her eyes. “Thank you.”

“Anything for you my queen.” He kissed her head.

“I still don’t remember.” She wept.

“You will, give it time.” He smiled.

She nodded, “I don’t want to go.”

“But you must,” He sighed. “Remember this and all that I have told you. Most of all just stay safe.”

“I will.” She whispered and then faded away sadly.
