Chapter 9
Chapter9
Before Howard could get back to the Logan Family Estate, he received a call from Grace. She’d located Rina in the Gallon
Park area.
With this new information, he instructed Alex to drive in that direction.
Once he stepped out of the car, he instantly spotted Sally hurrying by. His pupils darkened as his eyes narrowed. His already sullen expression became more pronounced.
What’s Howard doing here?
Sally was equally shocked by his appearance, her heart thumping faster and faster.
The mere thought of his violent attitude upon learning that she had children did nothing to calm her down.
He already despised both her and himself. If he saw Micah and Kara, he’d realize that she’d been pregnant with someone‘ s children before their wedding.
Would that resentment get translated over to when he bumped into Micah and Kara?

“Sally, hm…” he snorted derisively. A slight sneer graced his lips as he approached her.
His eyes were like two dark pools of water, frigid and unforgiving. The sheer power in them threatened to drown anyone who crossed him.
Sally froze. She simply stared at the man in front of her. Her love, which had taken six years to bury deep in her heart, instantly rose to the surface in this single moment.
Her previously calm heart was now battling wave after wave.
Howard continued to get closer to her, the distance between them shrinking by the second.
“You haven’t changed at all. You’re still a little stalker.”
His voice washed over her like an icy bucket of water, drenching her from head to toe. It pulled her from her thoughts and back into reality.
She automatically stepped backward, trying to put more space between them.
“We just happened to bump into each other, Mr. Logan.”
“Just like that?” He leered. “What a coincidence.”

The three children had been obliviously talking and giggling when Micah’s eyes landed on Sally. She hadn’t been too far from them, and he shouted in surprise.
Rina and Kara were just as shocked.
“Mommy?”
The three of them were laughing and talking when Micah saw Sally standing not far away and shouted out in surprise.
Rina and Kara were also quite surprised.
They instinctively ducked behind the play structure.
Upon hearing a sound, Sally swiveled around in their direction. However, she couldn’t see anyone.
I could’ve sworn that I’d heard Micah just now.
Could it be that she was just hearing things?
Noticing that Sally’s attention was elsewhere, a wall of anger slammed into Howard.
“Sally, just stop it. Do you really want to pretend that the past

Hearing him mention how long it had been caused her heart to wrench.
“Do Mommy and Rina’s daddy know each other?” Kara exclaimed in surprise from afar.
Rina was just as startled by this discovery.
Micah studied Howard and was instantly fond of him. “That’s Rina’s daddy?”
“So it’s possible that her daddy really is ours,” Kara stated with strengthened certainty.
The three children allowed their eyes to wander between Sally and Howard.
Micah, who was the first to calm down from the excitement, spoke up in a mature tone, “Whether he’s our daddy or not, we need to find out for sure before saying so.”
Rina stared at Micah with a puzzled expression.
“Yeah!” Kara, however, nodded along. Just like Micah, she was much more reasonable for her age.

many things to find out. Why didn’t he want to stay with us? And why’s he still with that mean woman? We need to know all this for sure. If he really doesn’t want to be with Mommy, I don’t even want to think about him anymore.”
Although Kara liked this Mr. Handsome, her mommy was the most important person in her heart.
Micah nodded in agreement.
Rina opened her mouth to say something, but in the end, she ended up staying silent.
Sally attempted to calm down before raising her eyes to meet Howard’s. She said coolly, “Don’t misunderstand my reasons, Mr. Logan. I never meant to follow you. I still have some things to do right now, so I’ll be heading out first then.”
“Sally…!” Howard glowered at her indifference and felt his blood boil. It felt like he was getting crushed by a boulder, knocking all of the air from his chest.
“Mommy!”
Just as he stomped forward to pull back Sally, Micah ran forward, taking giant strides for someone so small.

Howard flinched as he suddenly found a child in front of him. The little boy seemed to be about four or five years old. The moment he saw him, a funny feeling rose up inside him.
This was Sally’s son?
He was much older than Howard expected.
Micah regarded the man with an admiring look before frowning at his cold gaze.
If he wasn’t mistaken, it felt like this man was viewing him in an unkind manner.
Was it because he didn’t like him and Kara? Did he not want to be with them and Mommy?
The thought sent a pang of pain in Micah’s heart.
Sally protectively hugged him. “Micah, what’re you doing on your own? Where’s Kara?”
“Kara’s playing over there.” He pointed in the direction of the little wooden bridge he’d come from.
As Sally felt her heart unclench, she was suddenly struck by a chill.
She glanced up to find a frosty look on Howard’s face. His

sharp eyes glinted with hostility.
She pushed Micah behind her, instinctively wanting to shield him. She cast a wary look. “We’ve got somewhere to be, Mr. Logan, so we’ll be leaving now.”
Was she afraid that he would hurt her child?
Was he such a despicable person in her eyes?
Howard’s chest tightened. Just as he began to take a step toward Sally, Alex appeared and whispered in his ear, “Sir, Miss Rina has been found.”
Howard paused, silently looking in the direction that Sally and Micah had left. His eyes narrowed until they were slits,
causing his vision to blur.
“Where is she?” He finally withdrew his piercing gaze.
“Just over there by the playground.”
Howard spun around, traveling in the opposite direction of Sally.
“Howard!” Grace rushed over, her face filled with worry.
Cindy was close behind her, also wearing a look of concern.

“Howard, how’s Rina? Have you found her?”
Alex answered from his place on the side, “Don’t worry, Ms. Brown. Miss Rina was found playing on the playground over there.”
“That’s good.” Grace steadied her breathing, finally feeling that she could let her heart relax.
Howard said nothing and marched away toward the play
structure.
Alex and Cindy quickly followed after him.
Just as Grace was about to turn and join them, she spotted a familiar figure not far away.
Sally?
She narrowed her eyes, but the distance was too far for her to confirm her suspicions.
The woman seemed to be hugging two children, one on each side.
No, there’s no way that they could be Sally.
That coward had long been abandoned by the Brown family. Even if she did have the guts, she still wouldn’t dare to return.

With this in mind, Grace released her concerns and chased after Howard.
Once the two of them reached the edge of the playground, they found Kara playing on the slide.
As Howard watched her happy smile, he didn’t have the heart to interrupt her fun.
Now that he thought about it, he’d never even made the effort to take her to the amusement park nearby.
Guilt welled up inside him.
Grace released a deep breath. “Luckily Rina looks fine. Cindy, what were you even doing while taking care of her? I’ve only been away for a day, and you already went and lost her.”
She mercilessly scolded Cindy, blaming her for everything that had happened.
Cindy bowed her head apologetically. She felt wronged but didn’t dare to talk back.
It was true that Rina had gotten lost while she was in charge.
“Howard, Cindy’s getting too old. You should let me come back and take her place. I’m just worried about leaving Rina
