Chapter • Lunch •
It’s in the middle of the school day now, which means it’s lunch time for me. My 5th period was always the time when I felt hungriest too. It so happened that Alexis and both of her sisters have the same lunch period as I do. She texted me that she’ll see me at the end of the day at gym class. Since we figured out we have gym class together.
She told me that her and her sister make sure to have a good meal during lunch, which takes up two periods. I wouldn’t say I don’t understand how they could have received two lunch periods, but I am not that naive anymore.
Even though they were away, Alexis would still constantly text me. She was very interested in getting to know me and making sure that I can show them around town. I texted my mom but haven’t heard a response yet. I need my mom to let me do as they asked, I don’t know if they’ll still want to be friends with me if I don’t. Even worse, they might come after me. Not sure how that would come down to that but I don’t know anything about them. So I am unsure what to predict.
Alexis: Is there any crazy places we’ll get to see after school? I’m super excited to see this wonderful town. I heard there’s a creepy mansion somewhere in town?
Was she meaning the Saltzman Mansion? I figured they were trying to get me to show them around town so they knew where Tony was. How were they going to act if I did show them? If I did tell them where it was. My hands started to become clammy and shaky.
Me: Yes! I was going to have us pass by the creepy mansion. You can’t see it from the street but the woods surrounding the house are pretty creepy. Making you wonder how creepy the mansion probably looks. It’s been told that there is a really old man that lives there. People think he’s fit for the property on how creepy he looks.
Alexis: No way! That’s pretty crazy! Can’t wait to see! Hopefully he comes outside or something. Would love to chat with him.
Did I say too much? Did I now just jeopardize Anxillion’s life? I can’t imagine them wanting a serious conversation with him. I wasn’t one for religious beliefs or praying. At that moment, in a lunch room full of students eating, I held my hands together so hard. Praying that he wasn’t out of the property, visable from the street. Since fall was settling the leaves I’m sure he wants to make the lawn look nice. Today, shouldn’t be the day he did it. Maybe he could leave the leaves alone. His body had to be too fragile to be constantly doing that stuff too.
Me: I would love to know his story, about his mansion and everything. He does have a decently sized gate boarding the property from what I know.
Alexis: I don’t want to get on the property, I just want to know his story. Just like you do.
I couldn’t stop my hands from shaking. I almost spelled a few words wrong and had to delete and retype them again. I’m sure if I was talking to some normal person, I would think another second about what she said. Since she’s a vampire, nothing she said sounded slightly okay. I wanted to text Tony and warn him but I could feel myself being forbidden to do so.
I could text Tiffany. Maybe she’ll bring light to it and warn them. I began a message to her.
Me: Tiffany! I think I’ve might of said too much to Alexis. We’re really hitting it off and she asked about the mansion. And then I talked about the ‘old man’ that lives there. She said that she wanted to have a chat with him. I don’t think that’s what she meant. I’m scared for him. Please, warn them! Don’t have Anxillion out on the property by the street. Please!
I successfully sent it to Tiffany and she quickly responded.
Tiffany: I’ll take care of it. FYI: delete these messages immediate after sending and receiving. Alright?
Me: Thanks for the reminder!
I did as said, deleted every message that she sent and I sent to one another. As if I never talked to her. It gave me instant relief to know she would take care of it.
I then texted back to Tiffany, so she wouldn’t think I had forgotten about her.
Me: Is there any where else you three want to see? There’s a Halloween festival this weekend. We could probably swing by there and see what going on. Maybe this Saturday?
Alexis: That sounds like fun? Have you gone to one before? How are they like?
Me: There are usually a few haunted houses posted close together and they set up a festival in between it all. I heard they filled all three of the houses so we could visit all 3 of the houses. I’m not usually one that gets scared of them but I like seeing other people reactions.
Alexis: People’s reactions are definitely the best part. Sure! Not sure if my other sister will want to go, but I’m sure we could beg them enough.
She texted quickly after the next one. Making me delete my own text.
Alexis: I’ll see you in gym class. I’ve gotta leave my phone for a bit. See ya later!
Me: See you later!
I couldn’t believe that this was going so well. How was it this easy? Alexis seemed very much like a normal teenager. At the same time, the way she talked seem a bit sassy at times. Good thing at gym class, I still was able to sit on the side lines. Since I’m still excused from my rib injury, even though it feels completely better.
Sitting at lunch table by myself, per usual. Sitting in front of me was a plate full of soggy nachos, a carton of chocolate milk, and a fork. I picked the toppings for the nachos and it was ready to eat. I’m a sucker for either Mexican or Italian inspired foods. Of course, it wasn’t the best plate of nachos I’ve ever had. Compared to all the other options in the cafeteria, this was the top of the food chain.
~
It was finally gym class and right before the class I received a text message from my mom giving me the okay to hangout after school. I told her it was a new girl in school and she just wants to get to know the town. Which wasn’t false. My mom said as long as I came home before 8. Since it’s a school night and I’m sure to have plenty of late assignments. Which that was true. I did as much as I could during my study hall period right before gym. I just didn’t have enough time. Especially since I missed a few days work of school assignments.Alexis didn’t text me until I got into the large gymnasium across from the locker rooms.
Alexis: Where are you? I thought you said you had gym class with me?
Right after reading, I saw her walk into the gymnasium. Dressed in the the gray gym t-shirt that she had already tied together in the side since it was too large on her. Fastened with a hair tie. Which revealed her perfectly sculptured stomach, but less revealing as the crop top she had on earlier. She also rolled the waist band of the blue gym shorts until they could no longer roll. Making the shorts appear as if they were booty shorts. The shoes she had on were black and slim. Almost similar to cheerleading shoes except not white.
She started jogging to me as she say I was sitting on the unopened bleachers. Which always stuck out a few rows to sit. Giving me a seat to pretty much watch everyone participate in class.
“Why aren’t you dressed up for class?” She seemed concerned.
“Too cool for gym class.” I tried to sound cool, which ended up sounding like I was trying to hide the real facts.
“Funny. Seriously though?” She slightly giggled.
“Last week, I got into a fight with some chick and she kicked me in the ribs pretty badly. Excused me from participating in gym for a few weeks. Next week I’ll be back.”
“Oh wow! Badass! Who won the battle?”
“Well. She’s no longer alive so.” I shrugged my shoulders and her eyes lit up. I wasn’t lying but at the same time, it wasn’t me who killed her. Misty was the won who clearly won the battle. Since she blinded me with her body spray. Which the smell could easily send me into post traumatic anxiety.
“Oh! Who?”
“Her name was Misty.”
Her eyes squinted in judgement.
“The one who died in the car accident? I heard about her in my last class.” She was staring at me heavily. Yet it didn’t look like her eyes were fluctuating. “So, you’re lying to me.”
“Yeah.” I exhaled. “Sorry, I just want to seem cooler than I am. She really beat me up. It was so unprovoked that she broke a few of my ribs.” I couldn’t bare to lie anymore.
She genuinely laughed.
“Thanks for trying to be cooler, but I already think you’re pretty cool. My sisters on the other hand are skeptical of everyone here so far. Especially you. They don’t understand why you dress so differently than everyone. I told them it makes you unique. Which makes you cool in my books.” She smiled in a way that made me start to question her sexuality.
I’m sure I could feed into it but I wasn’t one to try and experiment my sexuality. Alexis was no doubt very attractive, but the way I felt my legs quiver around attractive guys made me sure I was in fact heterosexual.
Especially Tony, his face is one unlike any I’ve seen. You could tell he has a hint of Italian or Arabic decendent in him from her lightly darken complexion. The way his face was sculptured seemed like ones that would be carved my master stone carvers. Even his body had the perfect ‘V’ shape. His arms were clearly muscular. His forearms were perfectly hairy and the way it flexed when he grabbed things. I could already feel my lower region pulsate thinking about him and his physical appearance.
“Thanks, Alexis. I knew when I first saw you that you were cool. I could only aspire to dress like you. The only problem is my mom would probably have a heart attack.”
We both laughed as if were best friends already. I could see that happen if I didn’t know anything about her. The female teacher rallies everyone into a huddle and calls out who has shown up for class and who hasn’t.
“Well, gotta go to class.” She giggled and walked towards the uneven circle around the teacher. Adding herself to it. The teacher already saw me on the bleachers before she counted. Even before Alexis came into the gymnasium. We made eye contact and I could she took a mental note of my attendance. Just so I didn’t have to get up and yell ‘here’ when she would called my name.
I looked at the class. All I could notice was Alexis continually look back at me every chance she got. Either she really like me as a friend or she really liked me as more than a friend. Either way, I was beginning to feel awkward with her eyes looking at me so much. I did my best to not look her way. Avoiding eye contact.
I ended up using the time to do my unfinished homework. I turned around to the wall the use the bleachers behind me as a table. Which ended up working very well. For my homework and to avoid Alexis’ consistent starring from afar.
