I woke up wide awake. Alert and ready to tackle the day ahead. I wasn’t sure if today would be the day I would meet the sisters, but I felt deep down that it was in fact going to be the day.

I decided to wear my black and gray checkered tights and my fitted black dress that carried webbed like lace on the wrists and neck. My black waved hair made most of the lace around my neck disappear from its length, except for the cleavage area. Which showed great womanhood. The only dress I had that showed any cleavage whatsoever. Around the waist I placed a blood red fabric corset that was tightened by black laces in the front. Making it easier to tighten as well and making sure it clentched tightly around my waist.

Even though my waist was small to begin with, it really extenuated my hourglass figure. I really wanted to impress these sisters and make them want to be friends with me. I just wasn’t sure what kind of style they persuade. As long as I looked my best, I’m sure they would be on board. At least I hoped.

I put on my black flats that looked business casual, while also being extremely comfortable. I even decided to also spend a little extra time with my makeup. Really blending out the black eyeshadow to make it look perfect. I wore enough mascara to the length that was enough to be visual through the gradient of the eyeshadow. My lips were plumped with a deep dark red lipstick. Opacity was thick and made my skin appear even paler than before. I decided to not wear a chocker today, but I did touch up my black nail polish. Since it was chipping just a little bit at the tips of my nails.

Today, the wind was super gusty. The tree that’s located right outside was wacking it’s branches at the window. The fall wind was brutal at times and the tree was always there to warn me about it. The dress might have not been the best idea to wear today. Which made the tights crucial for the outfit.

As I had just finished getting ready for school, almost immediately, our mom yells into the house’s air for us to go downstairs. I didn’t have my backpack so I was going to have to feel naked going downstairs without it being on my back. The same feeling of having no seatbelt on while in a car.

I opened then closed my bedroom door behind me. Casually walking down the stairs and then I felt the buzz from the phone in my hand.

I knew it was Tiffany, but I called her Andrew H. in my phone. I never talked to my brother on my phone so I wouldn’t think it’s him when she texts me. Plus, my brother’s name was Andrew Hanson in my phone. Not just the ‘H’ on it’s own. It was the full last name for him. Just in case he does call or text me. I won’t get confused.

As any usual morning, our mom opened the door for us as we all headed for the car. She always locked the door behind us to make sure it was secure. Our mom’s vehicle was a normal silver 2012 Honda Accord sedan. I remember the year so well since my mom bought it new two years before our dad died. Almost, exactly two years.

I head for the seat behind the drivers seat. In my opinion, it had the better views while traveling to school. Plus, since Halloween is only a week away, it’s the side that had the best decorations for any holidays, especially Halloween.

Andrew always sat in the front seat, Kevin sits in the seat right behind him, while Melissa sits right in the middle of Kevin and I. Since Melissa isn’t tall enough yet, she still continues to sit in a booster seat. Which only gives us enough room for us to sit, but not always comfortably.

When our mom gets in the car she immediately turns on the ignition and off we go. Since it wasn’t super cold outside yet, she didn’t need to warm up the car or keep it running for a little to warm up the engine. It was in the high 70’s, so it was quite pleasant outside. The wind made the air feel colder than that but not by a whole lot.

I can hear Andrew and Kevin talking to one other about school. Andrew usually bugs at Kevin about how he literally only has one friend, which he was going now. Which was always so odd to me since I carried to relationship with anyone at school. Tony was the first one I ever hung out with outside of school. Or even carried a long conversation with to be honest. Andrew always suggested Kevin to be gay, little does he know he actually is. Kevin’s friend Nathan was actually his boyfriend. There had been one time I walked into his room while they were kissing. I never mentioned it and neither has Kevin. Deep down I already knew he was but that confirmed it. My introverted self wasn’t capable of telling him my acceptance of him. I loved him no matter what. Andrew on the other hand always made fun of him, with his accusations of it. Would he change his mind if he really was? If he knew? Would he be loving and accepting?

Andrew was normally a real jerk and it fit his stereotype of a football player. Yet he never had a girlfriend and his only true best friends were his friends that were twins. They also only lived a few houses down from us. He was lucky with that. Kevin’s friend Nathan lived closer to Tony. In the more wealthier neighborhood.

Melissa, I didn’t really know much about her and her friends. She had play dates once in awhile with different little girls. Too many to keep track. Melissa was usually bossy when it came to playing with her toys, which probably made it hard for her to keep friends. Her passion for dance was always coherent and filled most of her time. She wasn’t really interested in friends.

Oddly, as different as we all are as siblings, we all similar in the aspect of our friendships. We didn’t cling onto many, and if we did have friends they were true and long term. As if it was hard for us to trust easily and it was hard for us to get along with others.

Looking outside, the closer we got to the school. The more I saw student walking to the school. It never took very long to get to school and it always went by so fast when I was in deep though. Our mom drove in the turnabout parking lot of the school. Dropping us off right in front of the school’s enterance doors.

As usual, I waited until my brothers left the car before creating my exit. I shuffled the phone in my hand and as I did so I received another text message.

Tiffany: Come to the nurse’s office before heading to your class. I brought your backpack since you left it at our home.

Sweet, she brought my backpack. It carried all the assignments that I hadn’t given to my other classes. I’m sure the teachers might give me a strange look for having missed so much of their class. I knew I was going to be able to catch up quickly. Yet I know don’t how quickly since I have a task to perform that held high priority. Even over school crazy enough.

“Bye, Melissa.” I tapped on her head with my palm, “Bye, mom.” Then I waved at her through the rear view mirror.

“Bye.” They both said at the same time. I was in a better mood than normally and smiled with them saying bye to me. I got out of the car and shut the car as quietly as I could without having to shut it again. Then I was off to the nurse’s office. Once I entered the school’s door I made a right turn that led to the gymnastiums and as well as the nurse’s office.

As I walked to the nurse’s office, I noticed that people didn’t really care to look at me. I didn’t standout you them as I did before. Before Misty’s death. I wondered if she was still living or if Tony had her in a coma still. The endless feeding was probably nice for him. Or is it possible he turned his frustration out on her and made her suffer. Even though he didn’t seem like someone who would do that, I didn’t really know him all that well to rule that out. He is a vampire. From all the books I’ve read and all the movies I’ve seen about them. It could be possible that he would do something like that. What happens if he did other thing? Like take advantage of her. Raping her? The thought made me kind of queasy and I try to distract my mind to something else.

When I arrived to the nurse’s office. Tiffany was already attending to another student. A girl who looked younger than me with circle glasses and an overall dress made of burnt orange corduroy with a peterpan white blouse. Her outfit screamed fall vibes and almost made me want to attend to a pumpkin patch farm. Especially matched with her wavy locks and brown knee high boots.

“I’ll be right with you. Go ahead of sit on one of the chairs over there.” She pointed to a pair of chairs settled next to the door.

I sat down and waited for her to be done. Tiffany was wearing a long dress with a deep v-neck.The pattern was floral with blacks and red along side some simple pinks and browns. It didn’t look dark at all and made for a very casual attire. Her hair was beautifully waved as it was yesterday. The gradient of her hair made her look so young and the dress flattered her body as well. It seemed a bit inappropriate for a nurse as a high school but I’m sure if someone had a problem she would compel someone otherwise. She seemed like such a gentle soul at school and played it very well. When I met the true Tiffany, she in a dirty mouth with a sassy attitude. Someone would clearly call her a bitch, which seemed to fit her quite well. At the same time, she doesn’t seem like a lady who would care.

The girl she was currently helping seemed to not be feeling good due to her time of the month. I could see the secret exchange of Tiffany passing a few pads and tampons to the young student. It was awkwardly obvious, even if it was meant to be as secretly as possible. I’m a girl as well and there was no one else in the office. Seemed a little unnecessary to act such a way.

After the exchange happen, the girl walked out of the office and then it was only Tiffany and I. She reached under her desk and settled the backpack on top of it. Awaiting for me to grab it.

“Thanks for bringing it. I would have if I could.” I head over to grab it. “Did I do a good job getting out of the situation?” Asking as if I needed to approval from her. As if I was her disciples and she was my master. And that description only felt right.

“You actually did an amazing job. I’m very proud of you. I know it might hard being away from him but you need to do this for him. Figuring out there plan and gearing them away will give us more time and protect him.” He nodded her head in gratification. “You need to make sure that you’re invited to their house today. You need to become friends with them as quick as possible. Just as I asked. The way you’re dressed today will make it very easy. You strangely dress very similar to the three of them.”

“Well, that works in my favor.” I smiled. She smiled back.

“Yes, it does. Make sure that you don’t say too much about yourself. They prefer talking about themselves. They’re very self-centered. Which will also work in your favor since you will have to keep asking about them. I’m sure you won’t have a problem with that, right?”

“Certainly not, I’m not one to talk about myself to begin with. Especially since my life isn’t very entertaining at all.”

“Great job, that’ll benefit you. Let them entertain your life. Compliment them as much as possible. Also refrain from texting me or anyone while you are with them. They like being the center of attention. Plus, if you bring you attention to your phone they will expect to to tell them what is going on.” She drew herself a little closer and began talking quietly, “Also, if their eyes look like this.”

Her eyes waved strangely at the pupils. They shrunk and dilated in a way that wasn’t normal at all. As if the light was going in and out and creating fluctuation in her pupils. It was something I couldn’t unsee.

“That’s when they’re trying to compel you. You need to do your best and act and pretend as if you are being compelled. Every word they say speaks very true in your mind. Just like how I did to you yesterday. Your eyes have to be glued to theirs the whole time when they do it. You can blink but your eyes need to stay glued. I will bring you vervain infused water everyday to make sure you don’t get compelled by them. That’ll ruin the plan to shambles. We can’t have that.”

“Alright. I got it.” I nodded my head vigorously.

She pulled the metal drawer from her desk and gave me a water bottle.

“Here you go. Make sure to finish it before your first class. It’ll stay in your system for at least a few days. On Friday, you need to make sure to grab a water bottle from me before you leave school. To make sure you can take it the next day. It’s okay if you miss a dose on Sunday, but I won’t have you chance more than one day of missing it. Some bodies dilute vervain differently. Especially depending on the level of concentration. The vervain I use has been soaking for over a month. We keep large gallons of them in the basement when needed. The strength is high so you should be good for definitely two days.” I began chugging the bottle quickly. “Also, make sure they don’t make you food. Vervain is poison to vampires and will make us extremely sick. If you can do you’re best not to piss them off or want you as supper. If they ask what blood type you are, say your O negative. That’s to save you from being eaten from if they have a craving.”

“Why would that help?” I was curious.

“O negative is the least preferred since it really doesn’t have much to it. It’s the most bland tasting blood their is. It’ll do the trick if we’re thirsty and need a quick feed. We don’t seek out that blood and especially don’t prefer it. Have you know, AB positive is the most desirable. It’s got the juiciest taste and feel like a thanksgiving meal to us, vampires. It also holds more value and will keep us satiated longer. Which is very valuable.”

I gulped in fear, “I am AB posititve.” I stared at her in blank, scared expression.

“Yeah, make sure you let them know differently if they ask. Call yourself dead if you tell them the truth. AB blood type can be hard to come by. Even at hospitals. The negative taste just as good but doesn’t have the fulfillment with it like the positive types does”

“Alright, good to know.” I began placing the backpack on my back adjusting it to fit comfortably on me. “Also, my mom told me you stopped by the house. Why did you do that?”

Tiffany took a deep breath and turned away from me.

“To fix her honestly. She was compelled by someone else to act rudely to you.”

I gasped and couldn’t believe what she had told me. Her facial expression didn’t seem to be deceiving and she looked like she almost felt bad for me. She couldn’t give me any eye contact either.

The first bell rang, letting me know I only have 5 mintues to get to class.

“Who did it? When?”

“I can’t answer that right now. You need to go to class.” Tiffany got up from the office chair she was sitting in and led me to the door.

“Did Tony do it?” I said seriously. Tiffany was still trying to lead me out the door and on my way.

“I said, I can’t answer that right now. Now go before you miss your class. I know you have your first class is on the second floor and across the whole building. If you don’t go now. You’ll be tardy.” I was finally out the office and in the hallway. “It’s time for you to act. Especially since the first class has two of the sisters. Don’t ruin this, okay?”

My eyes widened and I could believe I was already expected to do my job. School wasn’t it. It was to befriend the girls who made a part of me jealous. They wanted Tony as bad as I did. Maybe even more. I was scared that I might not be able to do this. I began walking as Tiffany waved goodbye.

How was I going to be able to fool these complete strangers into wanting to be friends with me. Three girls that wanted the same guy as me. I had to pretend as if I barely knew him. Barely knew his family. Actually, I needed to pretend that I know nothing. I needed to lead these girls out of town. Right after being friends with them. Deep down, I felt weak and didn’t think that this was going to be able to do this. Yet another part of me needed it to be possible. That it was going to be possible. The confidence was driven through my appearance, since I felt like I looked really good. I even walked a little more flirtatious.

It didn’t seemed to beam too much to make others look at me but that didn’t quite matter to me. All I needed to do was use this confidence to my advantage. Use it to make the girls want to be friends with me. I wasn’t too sure on how I was going to make it possible. All I knew was I was going to think it into existence. If it didn’t happen, I don’t know if I’ll be able to confront Tiffany about it. Letting her down almost made me go crazy. I couldn’t let her down. That was not an option.

I lead myself to the stairs that were closest to the classroom. When traveling up the stairs, the classroom would be located on the left hand side. Since the academic side of the school carried as two horizontal main hallways branched together by two smaller hallways. Each hallways had a staircase sitting at the end of each of them, with a exit door sitting on the first floor to the outside.

I went up the stairs and as always the teacher was outside of the classroom. Welcoming students as they walked in. Walking closer made him look at me. All he did was smile and gesture me inside.

I almost didn’t want to go in. In fear that they would already be inside. Knowing that there were only Misty and Tony’s spot available to sit. The insides started to feel like they were twisting and swirling inside of me. Like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. My guts turning and turning, which started to make me sick thinking about it.

When I walked in, there the two were. The two spots close to my seat. One of them sat where Tony was. Her bright blonde hair with highlights and lowlights that was cut to her shoulders. The style of it was sharp and edgy. Her button nose and perfect natural makeup. Her plumped lips looked perfect. The clothes she wore was something I would indeed buy but seemed to show more skin than I would have liked. She was wearing a black sheet crop top that was almost sheer enough to see that she wasn’t wearing a bra underneath. Wearing a black leather jacket that was fitted and as short as the crop top underneath. Which showed plenty of her muscular fit abs. It seemed almost fake but the closer I got it looked undesirably real. The jeans she was wearing were black as well and had so many rips in them that you could see almost all of her leg. The shoes she wore as well were tall pumps that looked to be made of black leather. It fit her slim foot. Overall, she was drop dead gorgeous.

The other sister couldn’t compare to her amazing looks. Yet she was gorgeous as well. She had a pair of cat eye clear glasses with the top of the frames solid black. Her hair was just as blonde as her sister’s, yet not as blinding. Her hair was long and in a side braid. Not a style I see a lot of people doing. I could tell she was wearing a dress similar to mine. But it had more of a Wednesday Addams vibe to it. The collar wasn’t white though, it was a very dark royal purple. From what I could see she either didn’t have any makeup on or a minimal amount. Either way, it was hard to tell with the glasses she had on her face.

The more attractive sister was sitting in the spot that Tony should have been in. The othe sister was in the spot right behind her, where Misty used to sit. They were in the perfect spot for me to befriend them, yet it felt completely intimidating. I walked on the right side of the lab tables in the middle of the room. Which led to my seat. As I walked closer, they both noticed me and watched me like a hawk. I didn’t like being watched by them yet I did my best to pretend as if they didn’t exist. At least for that moment.

“Woah, who the heck are you?” The more attractive spoke out as I began to sit in my stool.

“Who, me?” I responded innocently.

“Umm, yeah.” She relaxed her shoulder and her sister behind her leaned forward to be apart of the upcoming conversation. “You are the first person I’ve seen who dresses almost as cool as me.”

“Oh no, you look amazing. I can’t compare to what you’ve got on.” I needed to make sure to compliment. Just like Tiffany said. If compliments came my way, I needed to make sure reflect it back but better.

“Oh, why thank you.” She looked over to her sister. “She thinks I look like a slut. Do you agree with her?” Then she looked back. I didn’t see her eyes adjust or do anything that would make me think she was trying to compel me. She wanted my honestly. Really, I didn’t think she looked like that. It fit her style she was presenting which seemed only rockstar-like.

“Oh goodness, no! You look like you’re a rockstar. If not that, you look like you are very confident in your skin and dress to flatter it as much as possible.”

We both smiled at each other and I could tell that she was really starting to like the impression of me.

“Hell yeah. That response makes me feel amazing. I can also tell the guys at this school are almost scared to look at me. As if they’re afraid to be rejected by me.”

“I’m sure you could get any guy you wanted here, even a senior.”

“Ehh, I’ve already got a boyfriend. But thanks though.”

Her sister giggled. As if what she said was funny.

“What is it, Amelia? What’s so funny.”

“You don’t have a boyfriend, idiot.” Amelia still continued to chuckled quietly.

“Sorry your just jealous. That he likes me more than you.

“Sure, whatever you say.” Still giggling.

The school bell rang and class started. Everything Mr.Greenwood was talking about didn’t seem unfamiliar. Since I wasn’t behind in his class. When I go to the other classes, I was either going to be a bit confused or have to struggle to catch up.

As Mr.Greenwood continues to talk to the class, the sister next to me leans to me and whispers.

“My name is Alexis Huntington. What’s your name, girlfriend?”

“Oh, my name is Becca Hanson.”

“I can tell we’re gonna be great friends.” Alexis said with a courageous grin. “And if you haven’t guessed, Amelia is my twin sister. She’s super annoyingly smart. We also have an older sister name Anastasia. She’s just as pretty as I am. But obviously not as gorgeous as me.”

We exchanged a smiled and Mr.Greenwood raised his voice.

“Am I disturbing you guys?” Alexis and I both look at him at the same time. “Or do you guys need to take this conversation to the dean’s office?”

“Nah, I think you’re disturbing us.” I gasped quietly at the disrespect she had just bestowed.

“Well, I suppose you’re right. Please. Proceed.”

At that moment I knew what she had done. In front of everyone.

She compelled Mr.Greenwood.

I tried not to make a big deal of it. I deviously giggled with Alexis as if we were trouble makers getting our way. When really, I felt weird doing that exact thing. It didn’t matter though. I needed to befriend her. She seemed the leader of the bunch.
