Seven Years of Marriage with Jake

Chapter 1

With a loud bang, the car rolled over and over, and I, heavily pregnant, lay in a pool of blood.

The electric car, after the violent impact, quickly started emitting plumes of white smoke.

I didn't expect to be reborn at this moment.

Reacting quickly, I used all my strength to crawl halfway out of the driver's seat.

But my lower body was stuck and couldn't move.

The pedestrians around, fearing the explosion, stayed far away.

My cries for help were drowned out by the roaring noise.

Seeing that my attempts to get help from passersby had failed, I could only tremble as I dialed 911 on my phone.

The abdominal cramps were getting worse, and cold sweat dripped down my forehead.

The person who answered the phone was Jake's colleague, whom I had met a few times.

Hearing my voice, her tone immediately turned serious.

"Mrs. Parker, Dr. Parker had something to do today. Before he left, he specifically told us that if you couldn't reach him, you might call the office. Okay, I know what you're going to ask, but I really can't tell you where he went. This call is very important, please don't waste emergency resources, I'm hanging up."

Hearing her about to hang up, I panicked completely.

As I struggled, a pile of Emily's cosmetics fell from the glove compartment and hit me.

But I didn't have time to look, and said urgently:

"Don't hang up! You misunderstood; I'm not asking about Jake. I've been in a car accident, right at the intersection in front of your hospital! The car could explode at any moment, can you quickly send someone

Before I could finish, she impatiently interrupted:

"Mrs. Parker, stop messing around, okay? Dr. Parker is not here, even if an ambulance goes there, you won't see him. Stop making a fuss, this line is for saving lives, can you please not waste public resources? I'm begging you."

"He didn't intentionally not answer your call, it's really a matter of life and death over there. You're pregnant, just stay put and wait for delivery, don't overthink it. He'll explain it to you when he's done."

After saying this, she hung up the phone.

Tears of despair streamed down my face.

I didn't expect Jake to be so heartless, not giving me a chance to live.

Before, when Emily called him away with various excuses, I did call the office to find him.

But I never lied, let alone wasted emergency resources.

Seven years of relationship, and in the end, this is the image I have in his heart.

No wonder he was so decisive and ruthless when he attacked me for Emily in my past life.

At this critical juncture, I couldn't afford to think too much.

The temperature in the car was getting higher and higher, and it was about to reach the point of explosion.

I took a few deep breaths and looked down at my bulging belly.

I tried my best to climb out of the broken window.

The glass shards cut my palms, the fragments embedded deeply in the wounds.

I managed to move another four inches out of the car.

My strength gradually drained away, and I lay on the ground gasping for air.

My skin was almost scorched by the heat inside the car, and in just two minutes, the exterior of the vehicle was covered in thick smoke.

More and more pedestrians gathered around, some kindly shouting for help, asking if there were any professional doctors nearby.

Soon, a rush of footsteps approached.

The head of Jake's department appeared in front of me.
