Chapter Secret 3

  • Verona whirled around, her heart jumping into her throat. Oona stood there, soaked in blood, her eyes cold and unforgiving.
  • The intensity of the stare sent shivers down Verona’s spine. This wasn’t the same Oona she knew.
  • Despite her frail appearance, this Oona had just killed a mighty beast. And now here she was, with those freaky eyes.
  • “What do you want? You touch me, and Grandma won’t spare you!” Verona blurted, her voice trembling. Oona’s gaze was making her skin crawl.
  • “Relax. Just wanna have some fun with you,” Oona said with a creepy grin. Her eyes, however, hinted at a dark hunger, a madness Verona had never seen before.
  • This was not the Oona she remembered. This version was utterly deranged! How dare she threaten me like this? Didn’t she care about what grandma would do to her?
  • Forget the wimpy Oona of the past. This one? She was the freaking Grim Lord of Fort Carnage!
  • Fort Carnage was notorious for being brutal. People vanished without a trace, and it held the world’s balance in its vicious grip.
  • Even the deadliest hitmen wouldn’t survive Fort Carnage. In this savage place, Oona ruled with an iron fist.
  • Oona seized Verona by the collar, and Verona was on the verge of losing it, screaming and crying out, “Let me go! How dare you do this to me, you idiot! Get the hell away from me!”
  • “Shut the hell up!” Oona barked, a flicker of annoyance crossing her face. She ripped a chunk of Verona’s dress and shoved it in her mouth, muffling the woman’s terrified screams.
  • Pulling Verona along, Oona led her to the rooftop, where she promptly tied her limbs with rope, dangling her dangerously close to the edge.
  • Verona struggled fruitlessly, her face pale with fear. Despite her attempts, only muted whimpers could be heard, stifled by the makeshift gag.
  • Fear seized her entire body, causing it to convulse uncontrollably.
  • Once Verona was securely fastened, Oona glanced down at the view below, a satisfied grin spreading across her face, pleased with the outcome.
  • “Hold still. That rope’s about as sturdy as a wet napkin. Fall, and you’re toast.” Oona’s smile was sweeter than honey but sent shivers down Verona’s spine, worse than any horror movie.
  • Paralyzed with fear, Verona couldn’t move a muscle. Tears welled up in her eyes as she looked over the edge, contemplating the dangerous drop below. The mere thought of the height made her tremble uncontrollably.
  • “Uh oh,” Oona cooed, a mischievous glint in her eye, “someone wet herself. I should probably snap a pic for the memory book. Don’t you think?”
  • Oona grinned at her work on the rooftop before turning to leave. She was done being pushed around. Verona’s insults and control were just the warm-up for what she had planned.
  • As she closed the heavy iron door, Oona found herself face-to-face with mischievous eyes.
  • The man’s laughter was light and disarming. He teased, “Whoa there, already throwing yourself at me? So smitten already?”
