Secret Scion

Chapter 104 -

"Asher!" When Dove saw Asher walk out of the private room, she gasped in surprise. "What a coincidence! I didn't expect to see you here!"

It was certainly something to feel happy about when one was able to encounter a familiar face when traveling, not to mention that Asher was someone that she had feelings for. She was so happy that she ran toward him like a little girl and asked, "When did you come back to the Capital City? I was going to give you a call tomorrow."

Griffin could only gawk. "You know her, Boss?"

Asher nodded and said, "She's my friend's younger sister from Rollinsford."

"Is that really how you're going to introduce me, Asher?" Dove pursed her lips together and said glumly. "Why must you involve my brother even when we share a close relationship?" Asher could not help but frown.

Dove then said with a smile, "Nice to meet you. I'm Dove Yaeger. Thank you for your help just

now."

Griffin scratched his nose and grinned. "You're welcome, Ms. Yaeger. Since you're my boss's friend, that makes you my friend too. If you're ever in any trouble in Alexandrius, just come look for me or use the name Griffin Quinn. It still has some use around here. Haha!"

"Thank you for your help, Mr. Quinn. I'll be sure to remember that," Dove replied with a smile. "You don't have to call me Mr. Quinn. That sounds so formal. Just call me by my name," Griffin said cheerfully. "Speaking of which, why are you together with trash like Tristan? He stirs up all sorts of trouble just because his family has some money in their bank. The only reason why I haven't dealt with him yet is because we've never crossed paths. If not, I would've snapped his leg in half already!"

When Griffin said that, Asher glanced at him with interest. This was the first time after so many years that he had seen Griffin being so passionate about a woman. Could it be that it was love at

first sight?

Asher scratched his nose before saying, "Let's continue inside."

"Oh, right. Let's continue inside our private room," Griffin agreed.

When the three of them were inside the private room, Griffin's attention had always been on Dove. While Asher saw everything, he did not comment anything on his friend's intention. He filled the glasses and asked, "Don't tell me you came to the Capital City alone? Where's Castor? Is he not with you?"

"I came with my brother. We're having a meal with a few of his friends, and we encountered Tristan because they were eating there as well. After that, Tristan came over and harassed me, so Castor fought with them. Unfortunately, Tristan had a lot more men, which led to Castor's loss. When Tristan left, he took me with him as well. That was how I ended up here. Oh, right! I have to speak with Castor!"

With that, Dove took out her phone and gave Castor a call. "Castor, I'm all right. I'm now with Asher and this guy called Griffin Quinn. Don't worry."

"Master Asher saved you? That's a relief," Castor said as he heaved a heavy sigh.

Dove quietly glanced at Asher before muttering a yes.

After Dove hung up on her brother, Griffin then began to complain in righteous fury, "That

bastard! If I ever see Tristan again, I'm going to beat him until he loses all his teeth!"

As his closest friend, Asher knew what Griffin was trying to do. He was sure that Griffin had fallen for Dove.

In all honesty, Dove was pretty decent. She was beautiful and quite well-mannered. If the two of them did end up together in the future, he would be pretty happy as well. He then said, "Dove, since you just came to the Capital City, maybe you've never heard of Griffin. However, your brother should know who he is. Let's put it this way. If there's something that he can't solve, then no one in the entirety of Alexandrius can."

Griffin quickly waved his hands in a rare moment of embarrassment and said, "Boss, stop teasing me. We're bros, right?"

Asher then replied in a sincere tone, "I'm simply telling the truth."

Sometimes, Asher would think that if Griffin would properly use the resources that his household had, the saying "Male Sebastian" would not even have existed. Unfortunately, he was so unenterprising that all he did was to follow him around.

Dove did not expect that Griffin's backer was so powerful, which made her re-evaluate him. She then said with a smile, "I knew it already. My brother said that Tristan is someone that he cannot afford to upset. If it wasn't because of me, my brother would never have acted against him. However, when Tristan saw Griffin, it was like a mouse encountering a cat. Tristan had no choice but to accept defeat. That alone meant Griffin must be quite powerful."

"Don't say that! That's nothing special," Griffin said with a red face.

Dove instinctively glanced at Asher. If someone with such a powerful backer still called Asher boss, it meant that Asher was even better, right?

Originally, Griffin wanted to drink with Asher freely. However, after encountering Dove, Griffin gave up on that thought. He could not leave a bad impression the first time they met, right? When it was about ten o'clock at night, they finally left the bar.

"Fa- Griffin, I think I drank a bit too much. Can you send Dove home?" Asher requested. It was obvious that he wanted to create some opportunities for Griffin.

Griffin naturally knew what Asher meant. He nodded and said, "I'll make sure that it's done properly. Dove, where do you live? I'll send you home."

Dove glanced at Asher from the corner of her eye with a slight disappointment on her face and said, "Maybe you can send me instead, Asher. It seems like my brother has something he wants to discuss with you, not to mention that... we haven't met each other for quite a long time as well. I have quite a bit to tell you too."

"If that's the case, let me send both of you over." Griffin did not know that Dove liked Asher. Dove then said with a smile, "Griffin, you drank quite a few bottles as well, so you shouldn't drive as well. Even if you were to drive, I'm not bold enough to sit in the car too. My place isn't far from here, so we can walk over. You don't have to drive me back."

Griffin still wanted to say something but Dove did not give him any chance. She then said to Asher, "Asher, let's go." With that, she led the way.

Only at this time did Griffin realize that Dove did not have the same feelings for him as he did for her. He then asked with some disappointment, "Boss, is Dove in love with someone else?"

"Huh?" Asher was shocked by the question. "Probably not. I'm not that close with her, to be honest with you. I'm not that sure either."

"That's good. All right, I'm leaving. I'll look for you guys again when I'm free." With that, Griffin drove away.

Dove stopped after she had made some distance, as if she was waiting for Asher. After a moment

of indecision, Asher then walked over. He did not know what to say, so he continued walking onward in silence.

The atmosphere was also becoming somewhat awkward. In the end, Dove was the one that

broke the silence with a question. "Asher, why didn't you tell Griffin that I like you?"

Dove was the Yaegers' beloved daughter. While the Yaegers could not be considered as a large

family in the Capital City, they still wielded considerable influence in Rollinsford.

It was a known fact that Dove was a beauty with great familial support, and that made Dove

quite prideful. Even when she had plenty of suitors, her heart remained unmoved. However, that did not mean that Dove did not desire love. She simply had yet to find a man that was worthy of her.

Only after Asher had revealed his true identity and a close understanding of him did Dove realize that she was deeply infatuated with this man that she falsely believed to be a freeloader. Love.

It was something that could happen in the flash of a moment. Perhaps it was that one extra glimpse. Perhaps it was that one simple act.

Dove was someone courteous and restrained, but when it came to love, this seemingly weak woman would not keep anything hidden. She believed that love was something that needed to be shared with the other person even if she would be rejected in the end.

This part of her personality was demonstrated during the time when she and Noelle bought clothes.

Dove kept on staring at Asher. Only then did he suddenly realize that even he was capable of feeling embarrassed at times. Luckily this happened at night, so the expression on his face was not that obvious.

"You know that's not possible, so why must you force it?" Asher told her directly. After a pause, he then added, "There's someone I love."

"Noelle or the lady owner?" Dove asked.

"Noelle," Asher answered without any hesitation.

Dove smiled faintly and said, "As expected. It seems like you two managed to grow very fond of each other during the two years you're married together. That proves the idiom familiarity breeds fondness. Do you know why I'm here in the Capital City?"

Asher shook his head.

"That's because I know you're coming back to the Capital City. I came here for you. If the love between you and Noelle can be fostered, then I believe I can do it as well." Before Asher could say anything, Dove increased her pacing.

Castor did well in the Capital City for the past two years and got to know some second and third- rate scions. He invested in a few hotels, and could earn about a million dollars every year. As he wanted to expand in the Capital City, he bought a house there. He chose a good location in a high-class neighborhood.
