Saving Kinsley

Chapter Devise

Kinsley's P.O.V

The run in with Dakota definitely soured my mood for the evening. What did I expect from him? Honesty? Complete transparency? That's a god damn joke, after all he rejected me and then kidnapped me dragging me back here to be his damn mistress. This mate shit was really fucking with my head.

I should have moved to the other side of the world, maybe I'd be living life to the fullest, free.

Slamming the door shut, I vaguely remember someone offering me food as I passed through the kitchen. Did I grunt? Did I even say anything? This anger was clouding my every thought. I felt seconds away from blowing a damn gasket.

Maybe a bath would help?

Walking into the bathroom I fixed the faucet mindlessly, hot water streaming through filling the tub now.

Removing the borrowed clothing, I sank into the water. The hot water soothing the fury in my blood. How was I going to escape this?

A distraction? That would have to be one hell of a distraction to pull the packs attention one way, while I rejected Dakota.

No, there were so many uncontrolled variables in that. anything could go wrong. I needed a sure plan that would guarantee mine and Vivi's safety.

Ugh, my head is throbbing from all of this. Why couldn't things be simple? Just one little break, that's all I'm asking for.

Break. Jobs have breaks. I need something to distract my mind, I hate being idle.

Noah. I remember him briefly mentioning he had a patrol run the other evening.

What if somehow I managed to worm my way into patrols? I could learn the safest route out, and learn the ins and outs of this pack. When would be the best time, and who to avoid.

Was he patrolling tonight?

Sitting up in the bath I pulled myself up immediately to get out and dress. With Dakotas odd behavior lately, I needed to form a plan and set it in motion.

Walking out of the house, the night was silent until I could hear hollers of voices off in the distance breaking the temporary tranquility. Were those party cheers?

Alright, guess that's where I'm headed. Hindsight, probably wasn't the brightest idea. 'A girl wanders into the darkness, following unknown voices.' I chuckled to myself. What could honestly happen?

A lot. A lot could happen. Red cups were being filled to the brim, some even sloshing over from being over filled. People were laughing, and sharing jokes. Girls huddled in together, smiling at the guys as they pushed each other back and forth.

Why wasn't I invited to the bonfire? I loved Parties. Not really, there was always drama. Right on cue, Two big burly guys had started shoving each other. Something about a girl? By now I was already in the middle of the crowd, searching for Noah's familiar face. Maybe he would be out here? I don't know.

Somehow I had ended up at the very front of the crowd, sure enough. I found Noah. He was one of the two guys about to fight. The other guy had thrown a punch at Noah, one could assume he had been drinking a little to much because the aim was way off. Was he aiming for his shoulder?

Noah stepped to the side, like casually stepped to the side. He was totally messing with this guy. Okay seriously I had enough of the testosterone display "I hate to interrupt what ever this is-" I gestured a hand between the two, "But I need to talk to you." I wasn't dumb stepping between two guys, squaring off. I kept my eyes open from every angle.

Rule number one, Always watch your back.

"Who the hell are you?" The guys words were incredibly slurred, I'm surprised he was even standing up right still. Rolling my eyes, I knew he couldn't see. Why did they always ask that? Like did it even matter?

Noah stepped towards me quickly, just as the rando guys hand landed on my shoulder. We'll call him Rando from here on out.

His firm grip was digging into my shoulder making my muscles ache. "I suggest you remove your hand before I do." Calm.

I was calm.

"Or what bitch?" Rando sneered.

Slapping my hand over his on my shoulder I bent it away from my body quickly turning to face him head on. Twisting his hand, had him shifting to the left as he winced, "I warned you. Why does no one ever listen? Is it my size, or because I'm a female that no one takes me seriously?" I cocked my head, Twisting further I brought my leg up and landed a kick to his mid section sending him flying to the ground.

"Next time think twice who you're man handling, Bitch." Rando groaned from the ground.

"That was a sick move Kinsley, where'd you learn that?" Noah asked with a proud smile.

"Took a few self defense classes, and someone taught me how to protect my self." I shrugged. Ol' Ben was always worried about me after they found me. Back in his day he served in the army or something, needless to say he had literal kick-ass hand to hand combat skills.

"You should be an enforcer, you've got a lot of fight in ya, might be able to show the others that." Noah joked. Bingo, exactly what I wanted to hear. My eyes lit up as the words left his mouth.

"Actually that's what I came to find you for. I want to be an enforcer, I can fight and I'm a lot stronger than I look." The joking smile slipped from his face after I said that.

"It was a joke Kinsley. Sure you did one cool move just now, but against a sober grown shifter? Not going to happen." His tone was serious.

"Just give me one chance, please. I need a distraction. If I have to be stuck here I want to be useful."

'Trust no one Kinz.' Vivi's voice was in my head, replaying the words she spoke to me just hours ago. I could trust Noah right?

I mean after all, he found me in the wake of Dakota's rejection. Came to my defense. Even after being dragged back to this shit hole he's been on my side. But at the same time he's also Dakota's Beta. How much could I trust him with?
