Saving Kinsley

Chapter Detrimental Thoughts

Kinsley's P.O.V

"Look, We've already had this conversation and honestly I'm tired of repeating myself. Let me go. I don't want to be here, and clearly your Mate doesn't want me here either." I said as I stepped over Danielle, holding his gaze.

His fingers brushed against my cheek, sending light sparks across my skin. " I'll never let you go again Kinsley, you belong here."

Rolling my eyes, I pushed his hand from my face. " No, I never belonged here. We all know that. Do you need me to show you how this pack treated me the last time I was here?" I sarcastically suggested. He knew, they all did.

The area fell silent at my implications of their behavior. Stepping forward I meant to push past Dakota, but his hand gripped my upper arm like a vice stopping me from moving further. "Where do you think you're going Kinsley?"

Looking into his eyes, "For a run, sorry did I need your permission?" I said with an eye roll.

"You don't go anywhere unless Noah or myself is there." He said through a growl.

"I'm not a child Dakota, I can take care of my self. Just because we are, by the grace of a fucked up miracle Mates again, does not give you the right to order me around. I will never accept you as my Mate." I said as I ripped my arm from his grip. Noah's door came open and he stepped out before my anger could escalate further. "Don't let her out of your sight." Dakota said coldly.

Noah looked at me, ignoring Dakota as he passed. "Let's go, I know a cool spot." His expression lightened as he spoke to me.

Stepping outside, I was shocked to see melting snow on the ground. Winter at it’s final stages. Right, I was forced to remain in wolf form for an entire year. I wonder, why that is? Turning my gaze to Noah "What did I do to be forced in wolf form for an entire year?" Noah's gaze dropped to the ground with a sigh.

"You really don't remember anything huh?" He asked. Shaking my head "No, I mean Vivi told me my wolf was protecting me from him marking and mating another. But why an entire year?" I scrunched my eyebrows as I looked at him.

"You attacked her, in front of the pack at their ceremony. You were made an example." His voice whispered as he looked away from me. Laughter bubbled from my chest, Goddess maybe I was truly losing my mind now. " You mean, I attacked Danielle? Good she deserved it then!" I said wiping a tear from the corner of my eye from the laughter. "Not even mad, I just wish I was there to see it."

Noah cracked a half smile "Alright let's shift, I have to run patrol tonight."

His smile vanished as he shifted flawlessly into a dark Grey wolf. Noah yipped, encouraging me to shift, 'Alright girl, ready for a run?' I coaxed Ember.

I felt the fur sprout along my body, and then I was standing on all fours. Looking up my vision was crystal clear, but something was different this time.

Not only was everything clear, But as the day grew into night I was seeing heat signatures. It was as if my vision clicked over to night as well. Huh. Weird.

Noah and I ran for what seemed like hours before we made our way back to what I assumed to be the pack house. Noah shifted back first, "You go ahead, Dakota is expecting you. I'll see you in the morning." His naked muscled form retreated into the woods.

If I didn't feel a pull to Dakota, I'd probably be drooling right about now. With a huff, I pictured my human form, shifting instantly. I lazily walked to my pile of clothes throwing my clothes on, I finally realized how baggy everything felt. Looking down, it was like looking at a completely different body. Maybe that's why Dakota looked at me the way he had.

Stepping into the pack house, I nodded courteously at the wolves in the kitchen as I made my way through.

Passing doors in the hallway, I heard hushed voices coming from one. One I recognized, Alpha.

"She can't find out, at least not until he marks her."

The conversation sounded one sided, maybe he was on the phone? Shrugging I took a step, "Kinsley Marshall, the one from the Graceland pack."

My movements stilled. Marshall? But my last name is Hart, there is no way he had me mixed up with someone else. I was the only survivor from the attack on my home pack.

Marshall.

His scent hit me before any sounds. "Where have you been? I've been waiting for you." His voice snapped me form my stupor. Rolling my eyes at him as I continued to walk "Don't get your panties all twisted, I just got back."

Was that why I was still mates with him? The last name? I'd have to ask the one person I trusted here the most. Vivi.

Walking silently next to Dakota, I processed the new information. Maybe this was my way out, Goddess please.

Opening my door I looked over my shoulder at Dakota " I'm not sorry for breaking her hand if that's what you're waiting for. She deserved it." I could see his lips pull upwards at the corner before he schooled his features. "Didn't want an apology, I just wanted to make sure you're alright." That must be the mate pull talking, laughing humorlessly "Yeah I'm fine, nothing better then being forced to stay here against your own will." I didn't wait for his response, Instead I closed the door on him.

I could hear him sigh before his foot steps went to the right and the door clicked.

'Ember.'

'I'm here.' Her reply came immediately.

'We might have a way out of here.' I couldn't help the smile that spread across my face. I'm really hoping on this, it might be our only chance. If I remained here, I'd die here.
