Chapter 10 The Gala Part 1
Sasha
I’m in my hotel room getting ready for the gala. I chose a long red sparkly gown for the evening. Due to wearing a dress, I would have to carry fewer weapons which sucks. This mission is dangerous and I need all the weapons I can get. Hopefully, once inside I can find more weapons. Sure security will be strapped and if it’s Aquarius’s house hopefully he is smart enough to have an armory inside.
Nonetheless, I finish getting ready and applying my red lipstick. My hair is in a side-parted messy bun. I even added a sparkly headband for decoration. I look in the mirror and I hardly recognize myself. I put on my red heels and leave out of the door.
The gala is a formal black-tie event so I paid for a limo to drive me for the night to help blend in. Supposedly lots of important people are here. Every important supernatural creature will be in attendance maybe even the Royal Council. The limo pulls into the gate of the mansion and I see how big the place is.
It's a three-story white mansion with four columns on the outside. It has a large wraparound porch. We pull up to the front and the valet opens my door to let me out.
“Ma’am.” He greets me.
“Thank you.” I stroll past him and continue inside.
I'm happy the potion I took is working. During my travels, I met up with one of Greta’s friends who is a witch. She told me about a potion that masks my scent and also helps me smell like a vampire. It also gets rid of the sound of my heart beating. The potion only works for 24 hours so I have to be far away from here by then.
I walk into the lobby. Two guards stand on each side of the double doors. They nod at me as I enter. I descend the stairs down to the main floor. The room is marvelous. A giant crystal chandelier hangs above the middle of the room. The marble floor is so polished it looks like a frozen lake. The walls have gold trimming along them. This is the most expensive place I have ever seen.
Trying to stop gawking I make my way over to the bar and order a glass of bourbon. I sit at the bar sipping my drink and scanning the room as I always do. I see couples dancing in the middle of the room. Round white tables surround both sides of the room.
A guy walks towards me with shoulder-length black hair. He smiles as he approaches. If he wasn't a vampire I might find him attractive. Of course, I was automatically attracted to- no brain don't think of him.
"Hello, gorgeous. You here alone?' His deep voice asks and I put on a flirtatious smile.
"For now. What's your name handsome?"
"Oliver. Is there a reason you are masking your scent? Witch or just a human who doesn't want to be bitten? I assure you it doesn't hurt as much as they say it does." He whispers leaning close to my ear.
"Show me then, somewhere privately, please." I smile knowing he will be my first kill of the night. Maybe he even knows where Aquarius is.
Oliver puts a hand out for me to hold. His black and white suit fits tight on his body. I stand up and only take a few steps when someone unexpectedly walks up.
"Zane?"
