Chapter For Sanctuary
The resistance watched as drones began descending from the new Dreadnought that had appeared from the sky.
"GET THESE PEOPLE OFF THE STREETS NOW!" Celeste shouted to Anya and Wes.
"Right!" Anya nodded, as she turned to a crowd of civilians. "Everybody! Follow me, you will be safer if you move in a calm and orderly manner!" She announced to the large crowd of people, before heading down a nearby alleyway toward a sewers entrance.
Syl and Dex were stood at the vanguard as the drones began making their way toward them.
"This doesn't look like it's gonna end well for us, Syl" Dex sighed.
"Hey, don't talk like that, you got the number one Luna fighter here by your side!" Syl laughed, before turning to the drones and fighting them off.
Celeste looked in the opposite direction to see more drones approaching, Ashe and several of the Droids from Disceath stood ready. Then, the lights cut.
"Flares!" Celeste commanded, as the dim light from Ishtall illuminated the streets slightly. The click of several white flares could be heard, and the street was illuminated in a bright white light. A roar could be heard from the new Dreadnought in the sky.
Celeste frowned, as she climbed onto a nearby vehicle and summoned her Celestial Weapon, the Celestial Gravispear.
"FOR SANCTUARY!" She yelled, as she dove from the vehicle, into a crowd of drones, as she made an impact, the drones flew into the air, the resistance carried on fighting for over three hours, as the light from Ishtall grew darker, signalling nightfall.
The fighters had begun to lose energy as the near endless horde kept approaching. Celeste sighed as she got cut.
"Retreat!" Celeste yelled, the group made their way backwards into a nearby building, as they fought off the drones. As everyone made it inside, Syl closed the door and locked it.
Outside, Roisin and Keegan began carving their way through the endless hordes of drones.
"Where did all the citizens go?" Roisin asked.
"Maybe the resistance got them out?" Keegan asked, as he stabbed a drone in its chest, before ripping the sword out.
"I hope so... this is madness" Roisin nodded. Soon they fought their way to the outside of the building. Dex ran up to the window as he spotted Roisin and Keegan slowly getting overwhelmed, in surprise, Roisin span around to face the window and got stabbed through her shoulder.
"Roisin!" Keegan yelled.
Dex watched in horror, as his eyes began to glow orange, suddenly he fell to his knees.
"Argh!" Dex grunted as he looked at the orange energy pulsing through his veins. "ROISIN!" He yelled, as he ran outside. He summoned two Flaming Scimitars in his hands as an energy over took his body. Dex began spinning around, slicing dozens of drones at once, the fire of his blames seemed to illuminate the streets as he cut them all down. He roared in pain as he fell to his knees once more.
"What's happening to him?" Roisin said, holding the wound on his shoulder. She looked at Keegan, but he wasn't looking at Dex, his eyes were fixated on the sky. Roisin followed his gaze, to see the dark miasma slowly dissipating in the heavens above.
"Daylight?" Roisin asked, as she looked at the orange sky.
"No... sunset" Keegan said, as he turned and smiled at Roisin. Roisin smiled back, before running toward Dex, who was now on his knees panting, Roisin ran over and fell to her knees beside Dex, hugging him tightly.
"Dex!" She cried.
"Roisin... you're... okay?" He smiled, as he held her face in his hands.
"It's just a scratch" Roisin smiled, before she kissed Dex.
Dex smiled at Roisin and looked at her shoulder, to see the wound was sealing itself.
"Roisin... your injury..." He said, as he ran his finger along where the wound had been. Roisin however, was more focused on her synthetic arm, which had ceased functioning.
"My arm... it's malfunctioning" She grunted, as she whacked the false arm on the floor, however she jumped back, as her synthetic arm fell to the floor.
"What the..." Syl gasped, as he looked at Roisin.
"What?" Roisin asked, looking confused at his sudden shock. "It was a crappy piece of Crystech, it was bound to fail eventually, she shrugged as she rested back on her arms. She turned to Dex, who looked equally surprised.
"Roisin... your arm" Dex pointed.
"Yeah, I told you it was fake" Roisin raised her eyebrow.
"Oh for the sake of the gods!" Keegan laughed. "Roisin, look at your arms" He smiled. Roisin sat forward and looked at her hands.
"I don't get what's so specia..." She began, before noticing she had two arms and two hands. Her eyes widened as she rubbed her hands against each other. "How...?" She said, as she looked at Dex.
"Was it me?" Dex asked, looking at his hands. He scanned the few people watching, then spotted a scar on Keegan's hand. "Keegan... come here a sec" He said, as Keegan made his way over. "Hold out your hand" He smiled.
Keegan held out his hand, and Dex grasped it for a moment, before letting go, when Keegan looked back at his hand the scar was gone.
"Whoa..." Keegan said, rubbing where the scar had once been. Dex looked back at Roisin and grinned.
"This must have been what Mizu meant!" He cheered.
"Mizu?" Roisin asked.
"Of course! The sky! That's how she protected Inchaya!" Dex smiled. Roisin looked at Dex curiously, then shrugged as she hugged him once more, under the orange skies.
