Salute To The General

Chapter 3151

While Wolfric's expression darkened as soon as he heard that, Leopold was the first to chime in, "I agree. Mr. Cross is the best candidate indeed." "I second that!" "Me too!"

One after another, numerous Gods of War voiced their approval. Since they were on friendly terms with Eurasia, naturally, they would be happy to see Nathan become the allied forces' commander-in-chief. However, it was not long before some of the others started protesting.

The first was Eiken, Jetroina's War God. He sprang forward impatiently and shouted, "Eurasia's God of War is powerful indeed, but I don't think he's sufficiently qualified to be the commander-in-chief. No matter how I look at it, Mr. Welz is still the most suitable person." "That's right. I also agree that it should go to Mr. Welz," Tyrell, the War God from Xyperia, declared loudly, echoing Eiken's sentiments.

Subsequently, those from Frosa, Xenhall, Eagleland, Hallsbay, Ferropene, and the other countries that were on good terms with Ariarica all expressed their support for Wolfric.

Soon, there was a divide in the support from the Gods of War. Half of them thought Nathan should be the commander-in-chief, while the other half supported Wolfric. Both sides were at loggerheads.

Nathan furrowed his brows slightly while Wolfric gloated inwardly.

As for Eugene IV, he started getting worried. Why are they arguing again?

He had no choice but to try and ease the tension. "Quiet down, everyone! Quiet down! Please listen to what I have to say."

Gradually, everyone fell silent.

"Actually, whether it's Mr. Cross or Mr. Welz, or Mr. Remington for that matter, all of them are excellent choices. Even so, there can only be one commander-in-chief. Seeing that support for Mr. Cross and Mr. Welz is pretty much even, why don't we let the two men challenge each other in a sparring match, military simulation, or military combat techniques? The winner will become the commander-in-chief. How about that?" Eugene IV suggested.

All eyes turned toward Nathan and Wolfric. The former had no objections. However, the latter was unwilling to compete with him.

Wolfric was not conceited, nor was he afraid of Nathan. Nonetheless, he was aware of the latter's impressive track record. After all, Nathan had defeated Max. There were also rumors that he had killed a vampire prince. Despite how much Wolfric appeared to look down on Nathan, the former still harbored a niggling fear toward the latter deep in his heart. If he competed with Nathan and won, all would be well. If he lost, however, it would be a complete humiliation. Hence, he turned down

the suggestion immediately.

He snorted coldly and said, "Being the commander-in-chief is no child's play, so how can we rely on the results of a fight or idle theorizing over military simulation to make a decision? I won't have a sparring match with him." The crowd exchanged glances when they heard that.

Suppressing his dissatisfaction, Eugene IV asked Wolfric, "What would you suggest, then?"

"Either I become the alliance's commander-in-chief, or I'll be on my way right now," Wolfric answered in a steely voice, threatening to leave.

Eiken, Tyrell, and the others immediately made it known that they would also leave if Wolfric withdrew from the Hundred Nations Gods of War Alliance.

That caused Eugene IV to panic. If they leave, only half of the War Gods will remain. The alliance's strength will plummet drastically, and it'll be even more difficult for us to wipe out the leaders of the dark clan.

He hurriedly said in a persuasive tone, "Let's all calm down and not act rashly. We can talk things through calmly."

Wolfric gave a cold snort. "What's

there to discuss? The main battlefield for this fight against the dark clan will be in Adrune, so it's only right that I should be the commander-in-chief. How can we let it go to an Aplothian?"

That... Eugene IV turned toward Nathan with a troubled look.

Nathan liked to keep a low profile and had no interest in pursuing fame or fortune. Noticing the dilemma Eugene IV was in, he said calmly, "It's all the same to me whether or not I become the

commander-in-chief, or whoevemet

takes on the role for that matter. The outbreak of the blood virus, the vampire rampage, and the chaos and destruction committed by the werewolves all took place in Adrune. So, what am I doing here? I'm here to provide support to the countries subjected to persecution. I'm here to save lives, not make a name for myself. Just give the title of the commander-in-chief to whoever wants it."

As soon as he uttered those words, everyone was awed.

Eugene IV could not help applauding. "Your humility is truly unparalleled. How admirable."

"All of us in Adrune will forever remember your act of kindness," Hepburn piped up, her eyes shining.

Even Catherine, Eagleland's War God, gazed at Nathan with respect. "Mr. Cross, praises will surely be sung of your deeds in years to come."
