Chapter Rush 30

Chapter 30

Alicia was puzzled at Dalton’s sudden threat. She was stumped for a moment, but then Dalton quickly headed toward the dining room. “He’s crazy Alicia sighed in relief and hurried away.

At 6 PM, Alicia got out of the car and stepped into Golden Bar. Just then, Charles called. “Hey Alicia,

I got into a car accident on the way, and now the road is closed. I’m stuck here. You go in first, I’ll

get there as soon as I can.” Charles’s anxious voice came through.

It was Alicia’s first time meeting an investor alone, and she felt a bit nervous.

The room had been reserved by Mr. D in advance. A server showed her the way to the reserved room. At the door, the server left. Alicia took a deep breath to calm her nerves and pushed the door

open.

The room was brightly lit, and to her surprise, Mr. D was in there. Buhen she saw Dalton, sitting in his wheelchair under the dim light, and her body tensed up. She t imed in silence, ‘Dalton?! What the heck! Could Dalton actually be Mr. D?‘ Alicia’s mind was spinning out of control. ‘How could that be possible? Last night, Mr, D transferred 3 million dollars to me. Dalton isn’t a fan of mine; there is no way he’d give me that kind of money. But if he wasn’t Mr. D, why is he here?

Alicia was flabbergasted. She thought back to Dalton’s bizarre words when she was about to leave earlier. Her eyes widened in realization, and she suddenly gasped. It hit her–she lied to him and had been caught red–handed! Remembering her previous confinement experience, Alicia felt her hands and feet turn icy cold. She instinctively wanted to flee, but the door had already shut behind her.

“What are you doing here?” Dalton swirled a glass of red wine in his hand, his deep eyes radiating coldness. “This is a place where men come to drink and have fun. Don’t tell me you just walked into the wrong place.”

He seemed calm, but Alicia knew better. He was anything but calm. He hated it when she drank. Last time, she hadn’t even drunk but only smelled like alcohol, and he had humiliated her. The memory still scared her. Trying to pull herself together, Alicia forced a facade of calm. “It’s a class reunion. I didn’t know you’d be here. If I had known, I wouldn’t have come… I’m going to find them now.”

“Stop lying,” Dalton’s cold, indifferent voice broke the silence. He took a sip of wine, his Adam’s apple bobbing. “Alicia, have you just been ignoring everything I’ve ever told you?”

“I haven’t!” Alicia said immediately, trying not to provoke him. But she couldn’t shake her curiosity. She desperately wanted to know if he was Mr. D. Since the room had been reserved by Mr. D and now Dalton was here–was it just a coincidence or proof that he was Mr. D? But she dared not ask directly.

Dalton emptied his glass, his cheeks slightly flushed. “Come over here.” He set the glass down, his piercing gaze fixed on Alicia.

Alicia’s heart raced. “Dalton, what do you want?” she asked, her voice trembling.

What else do wonten come to places like this for? Alicia, do you not get it, or are you just playing dumby?” Dalton’s deep eyes burned into her, his lips forming two ominous words, “Serve drinks.

“I don’t drink, and I definitely don’t serve drinks!” She exclaimed, scrambling to open the door and escape. But no matter how hard she tried, the door wouldn’t budge.

Thinking of rumming?” Dalton’s voice was ice–cold.

The next moment, Alicia saw him rise from his wheelchair. ‘Jesus! His legs are fine? How is this possible?!” She shook her head. “Dalton, what are you doing? Let me out!” Alicia banged on the door, panic coursing through her. She prayed someone outside might hear and rescue her.

Dalton walked slowly but resolutely, his voice chillingly calm. “Did I say you could leave?

Ahhh! I admit it, Dalton!” Alicia was in a cold sweat! “I lied earlier. I’m h › meet an investor. He wants to invest in my mom’s company. We were supposed to meet hereght!”

“Who are you supposed to meet?” Dalton pressed.

Alicia froze. The truth was, she didn’t know who it was! “I–I don’t know who he is.”

“You came here without knowing the man’s identity?” he sneered.

“Not just me! Charles is on his way! You can ask him when he arrives!” Alicia said in desperation.

Dalton stepped closer, now only inches away. He loomed over Alicia, his eyes scrutinizing. In the next second, he gripped her jaw firmly, his tone dangerously low. “Do you think I still believe you?”
