Runaway Wolf (Blue Moon Series) (Book 3)

Chapter 11

~Levi~

“Excuse me, hello, can I get my Mint Mojito?!” an irritated voice asked. I glanced up to find some girl in a skimpy dress, her arms crossed and her face pinched in annoyance as she looked at me.

“Oh I’m sorry, yeah coming right up” quickly I grabbed a tall glass and started making the drink but my mind was nowhere near this drink or this club it was on Kyle and how he totally lost it tonight. I was just trying to be nice and invite him to dinner with a few friends so he wasn’t alone at home all the time like usual but I was stupid to forget who he was and how he’d react to Matt touching me when I’ve noticed the changes in him over the last few weeks.

Like the way his eyes world darken whenever I would bring Matt into a conversation or how he would growl though he never realized it when I would walk around without my shirt. That was one of the reasons why I’ve been keeping my distance from the house. I know it was mean to leave him all alone in my place but it wasn’t just him that was experiencing these behaviors. My wolf was become more active by the day, pushing me to be with his mate; our mate but I tried to resist it the best I could but the full moon was coming I knew what that meant.

The further I tried to get away from Kyle the more I was dragged closer. There was no escaping the pull between us and I knew the mating would be completed; it was inevitable. And in some sick masochistic way I wanted it to be completed; I wanted to be whole again to be with him. I wanted to feel that eternal love and connection with my destined mate but then I thought about how it wasn’t really Kyle, how he would kill me if I took advantage of his vulnerable state and I loved him too much to betray him that way. Sighing I continued to make drinks, I would noticed Eli give me concerned glances as we worked. I couldn’t blame him; I was acting out of character. My happy go lucky attitude nowhere to be seen but then again it was always slightly an act.

I was never entirely fine even when Caleb took as much away from me, I still had a hole in my heart this whole time.

“What’s with the long face sugar?” a familiar voiced asked and a smile finally surfaced on my face. Glancing up I saw Lola sitting at one of the stools in front of me. Her long hair was down and dyed blonde this time. Though she was really a guy he wanted to be called a she and I respected that.

“Lola where have you been all this time?” I asked.

“Oh you know honey this and that” her hand waving in the air as she spoke “What about you, why do you look so down sexy?” I gave her a sad smile.

“My life is quickly running away from me.” I said handing some guy the drink he order then made Lola’s original order which was an old fashioned. Once I finished it I handed it to her, wiping the counter and then leaned over it on my elbows as she took a sip and winked at me.

“You’re so good to me Levi” she smiled. Shrugging I looked out on to the dance floor crowded by hot sweaty bodies.

“Well you know I love you” I said turning back to her. She had a thoughtful look on her face before she placed her drink down and leaned closer to me too.

“Tell me why you think your life’s running away.” I sighed dropping my head down forward.

“It’s complicated Lola”

“All of us have complications its best to let it out hun” should I tell her? I felt Lola’s hand running though my hair comfortingly. I closed my eyes and spilled to her.

“An old love of mine has popped back into my life.” I confessed. Her hands never stopped there light caressing.

“And your worried about Matt right, since you undoubtedly still have feeling for this person.” I nodded.

“He was the one I never got over, he’s the one that brought me here in the first place” that caused a pausing the soft petting of my hair.

“Oh man, the one who broke your heart?” I nodded again. She reached under to lift my chin to look at her.

“I don’t know what to do, he’s staying at my house, he’s lost his memory so he has no idea what he’s done to me and I’m too pathetic to just let be how he was because I’m still so much in love with him it hurts me to think about it and I don’t know that to do.” I cried whimpering at the overload of emotions wracking though my body I wanted to collapse.

“Oh, Levi’ I saw the sympathy in her sapphire eyes. Taking a gulp of her drink she hopped off the stool and held her hand toward me, “Come one you need a damn brake.” I stared at her like she was crazy I was in the middle of work.

“Lola I’m working.” I said glancing around for my boss.

“No, you best come with me or I’m going behind there and dragging you out.” She warned, her eyes narrowed dangerously at me. I turned towards Eli who shrugged and gestured with his head for me to go.

“I got you covered.” He said like the great friend he was and I sighed in defeat threw the towel on the counter before jumping over it cleanly and took her hand. A huge grin spread on her beautiful face as she pulled towards the dance floor.

Lola was one of those men who looked so petite and beautiful that you would swear he was a female. She was constantly teased back at her home town for looking so feminine that she would stay at home all the time and never come out. She knew she was different, that being in a boy’s body wasn’t right for her so she decided to move and start a whole new life as who she wanted to be, who she knew she was; as Lola. She hung around people who accepted her and believed in her like my friends and I. She didn’t take shit from anyone anymore, she could hold her own.

Once on the floor she pulled me close as Lofticries by Purity Ring came on. Lola turned her back to me and pressed her bottom in my crouch and I laughed wrapping my arms around her small frame as she began to grind into me. Her hips were moving in a circular motion and her arm was raised and wrapped around the back of my neck pulling me closer to her as we dance. I needed this, a break and release from the constant stress roller-coaster home was bringing.

Lola was a graceful dancer every movement was sensual and airy like a ballerina. Her skin was a creamy white she smelt like roses and clean clear days. A perfect get away. She slowly turned in my arms looking up at me; she was close to my 6’2 but about an inch or so shorter so our faces were very close. Lola wrapped her long arms around my neck and I slid mine around her waist as we danced.

Her body slide down mine as he dropped low and back up. I smiled as her hands dug in my hair when she came back up to stare me straight in the eyes.

“You feel better?” she asked and I nodded.

“Much better.” I whispered in her ear.

The song ended and was quickly followed by Tyga -Lap dance. We both laughed and bust out with our crazy dance moves. This went on for another hour or so till I couldn’t move anymore and Lola was dead weight in my arms so I carried us both out to the sidewalk.

“IM SO BEAT!” Lola cried out in the night and I laughed. She was beyond drunk as I watched her stumble around.

“Did you bring your car?” I asked and she nodded.

“Yep” she slurred with a smile. I reached in her pockets to bring out her keys and walked her to her car that was parked on the sides of the club. I gently say her in the back and slid into the driver’s seat. The night was empty mostly as I drove through the dark streets. I glanced down at the cars built in clock; it was almost four in the morning. Well no wonder no one was out everyone’s asleep and so should I, I was dead on my feet almost.

At her house I walked to the backseat and reached in for her. I carried her inside and to her bed and tucked her in. Lola’s house was only a two room house with one bathroom but she lived alone so I guess it worked out for her. Sighing I walked out the front and locked it behind me.

Great how am I going to get home? Lola and I lived nowhere near each other. I glanced around me thinking of how to get back to my apartment when I felt my wolf whine clawing at me deeply. It caused me to wince and double over with a cry. I scanned the area but saw no danger so why was he acting like this. Again he clawed at my insides and I was brought to my knees.

“F*ck” I grunted hurriedly crawling behind Lola’s house in her backyard. My skin began to blister with heat and I knew what was happening. Brown fur was sprouting through my skin, my clothes stretching and ripping as my bones changed to accommodate my wolf’s form. I fell to my hands and knees; the sound of tearing was loud in my ears as my senses heightened. Fire spread throughout my whole body till I was standing on all fours, my wolf’s head lifted towards the nearly full moon and howled his glee and excitement for being free after three years of entrapment.

I could feel his desperation to run and we took off, it was like I was in the backseat as he took the reins of my body or should I say his in this form. We took off out of Lola’s backyard and down the street of the quiet neighborhood. There were no woodsy areas around for us so we just ran down streets and the main roads to get home.

There were only two words in my wolf’s head.

Run

Mate

People screamed as I rushed across the street using the crosswalk, they jumped out of the way or gasped as I ran by. I could just imagine what they were thinking, werewolves weren’t your regular sized wolves; we were huge furry beast about two time bigger than a regular wolf. I passed by the club and knew I was minutes away from home and I could already smell Kyle’s masculine musky scent and it drove me over the edge I barley had the power to control my wolf from bursting through the damn door and taking Kyle right of that blasted couch.

I found myself in front of my door anyway and shifted to my human form but my wolf still fighting me for control. Opening the door I notice Kyle on the couch with his head in his hands, he looked up at me in shock.

“Levi?!” he shot from the couch and stared at me. I was standing there completely naked his eyes roaming all over me and I snapped. I marched over to him pushing him down roughly.

“Why did you have to show up again Kyle!” I yelled at his confused face.

“What are you talking about?” I growled loudly and forced my hand on his chest pushing him back in the couch as he tried to sit back up.

“I was fine without you, I was finally getting back on my feet, I have a guy that really likes and I him and then you just had to go and ruin it by showing you f*cking face!” the rage in me was coming from a place that I kept locked away, pent up for so long. Kyle stared up at me with those clueless gray eyes and it just made it worse.

“I have no idea what your say Levi!”

“That’s what makes this such a f*cked up situation! You don’t know me, you don’t know what you did to me!” I say something flash cross his eyes for a moment and then I found myself on the floor with Kyle’s bigger body blanketing mine.

“You lied” he growled.

“What?” I glared up at him.

“You said we were just acquaintances but we were so much more weren’t we?” his eyes curious and angry all at the same time.

“No because you never let it be!” I snarled my canines extending as I punched him in the chest. “You were a coward!” he snatched my wrists in his hands and held them above my head. His eyes were focused on my mouth for a long while in shock before looking back up to meet my blazing brown glare.

“You’ve been hiding everything from me!” he growled furiously his eyes growing darker and darker every second a sure sign his wolf was taking over. “I don’t know what’s going on with you right now but I’m warning you,”

“Oh what you going to do hit me again?” I egged him on sneering.

“I never hit you” he voiced appalled.

“That you know of” I snarled in his face nearly snapping my canines in his face.

We glared at one another, I was going through an emotional roller-coaster, everything was going up and down and I could tell it was happening to him as well. We were both heaving angrily till I shot my hand out snatching my wrist from his hold, gripped his hair in my hand so tightly he hissed and smashed his lips to mine.

Just like that all the anger and hurt feelings I held were quickly replaced. His lips were so damn soft I was lost in them insanely. His body dropped on mine with a groan as he grabbed my face between his large warm hands, they were so gentle but rough at the same time. I moaned in his mouth lifting my hips into his.

This was our first kiss ever and it was amazing. Sparked flew across our lips as they moved in there sensual dance. But some part of me wished he was the real Kyle, the one who rejected me so I knew he was finally accepting me.

“Levi” he moaned.

His arousal waver up to my nose and a strong hint of cinnamon hit me strongly and I practically rolled my body all over him. A purr rumbled in my throat as he plunged his tongue in my offering mouth exploring all he could. His tongue was smooth and so wet I couldn’t stop from sucking on it for a moment but doing that really got him going. I snatched his shirt off breaking our kiss for a moment, the feel of his hot naked chest touched mine spread a wild fire of sparks to ignite between us that we both gasped.

“What is this?” he asked huskily against my lips.

“You wouldn’t believe me if I told you” I whimpered.

He pulled me back into a mind numbing kiss; rough caresses as we pet each other’s skin and discarded of his irritating clothes till he was just left in his boxers. My wolf howled impatiently wanting to feel all of Kyle while I wanted to wait. For some reason I didn’t want him to be fully naked, I felt like I was betraying Kyle somehow if I violated his body this way. Ugh why was this so complicated.

His lips caressed down my jaw to my neck and unconsciously I tilted my head back giving him more access, moaning softly as I felt his tongue lick at my skin slowly. He growled softly leaning down more to kiss my shoulder, his lengthened canines gently scraped across my smooth skin and a delicious shiver ran down my spine.

“Kyle” I whimpered in yearning, wanting his bite so badly I began to sweat with need. Like an addict my body shook waiting for it as his teeth began to sink in to my skin, my wolf yelped in anticipation and excitement.

But it all stopped when I heard an abnormal clicking sound. My body froze along with Kyle.

“Get off him dog” a cold disgusted voice spoke from the open door way. I lay with wide eyes as I started up at Kyle who glanced up to see who it was. I didn’t have to though, I knew exactly who it was and my heart sank. Gulping nervously I sat up as Kyle stood up slowly with a shocked expression. Turning slowly as I got to my feet I came face to face with Matt pointing a gun straight at Kyle.

“What are you doing?” I asked softly unable to make my voice work correctly. This wasn’t really happening was it?

“I’m saving you from this vermin.” He raised his hand towards me beckoning me to come to him.

“Get away from him Levi, come here” he never once looked away from Kyle, his once gentle black eyes were hard and emotionless now. I shook my head.

“Why do you have a gun Matt?” please don’t be what I think you are.

“I save the world from his kind Levi now get away from him, he’s dangerous!” he exasperated at me.

“The only danger I see is you! Put the gun away” I wanted to scream at him but he never lowered the gun from Kyle. My heart was beating a tattoo in my chest as dread seeped into my bones; he was going to shoot my mate. I suppressed the growl rumbling in my chest and stood in front of Kyle like a shield.

“Levi move!” he yelled through clenched teeth. I cringed at the angry tone he’d never used with me before.

What do I do?

I examined Matt as I stood in front of Kyle; he had the standard issue uniform of a hunter. Black cargo pants, black shirt and vest with black army boots. The way he held the gun I could tell he was very well trained in how to use it. I spotted Lakota crouched by the door against the wall eyes solely on Matt ready to attack at any moment.

“I’m trying to save you from the dog behind you baby. I need you to trust me and come to me now” he was talking to me like I was a child. So he thought only Kyle was the wolf here.

“Why are you doing this? If this is about what I did to you in the restaurant I’m sorry Matt, I really didn’t mean it.” Kyle finally spoke.

“Shut the f*ck up mutt no one’s talking to you!” he yelled venomously which caused Kyle to growled loudly at him baring his sharp teeth. I closed my eyes in defeat.

“You see Levi; he’s a monster who is only going to end up killing you. You can’t trust him he’s an abomination.” His words broke my heart because I knew there was no talking him down from this. He was hell bent on killing Kyle and I knew I would never let that happen.

Slowly I rose my hands in surrender and walked forwards but Kyle snatched me back by my arm.

“What the hell are you doing.” He whisper-yelled at me. I met his darkened grey eyes with my own sorrowful ones.

“There’s nothing we can do, he’s trained to kill us Kyle but he doesn’t know that I’m like so I’m going to distract him and I want you to run ok” I whispered so low I knew only Kyle understood me.

“Get your filthy hands off him!” Matt roared making us both flinch. I stepped closer towards Matt while Kyle whined.

“No, Levi don’t” he demanded but I had to save him somehow. I was standing right in front of my boyfriend now; he reached over and snagged me behind him.

“Go to my car Levi and wait there.” He ordered. I glanced at Kyle’s desperate eyes as he met my gaze.

‘Run’ I mouthed but he shook his head. I sighed frustrated.

Damnit Kyle!

“Matt let’s talk about this ok, no one’s trying to hurt anyone. I’m sorry about earlier but that’s no reason to come barging in here with a gun pointed at me.” Kyle said slowly.

“No, that’s a perfect reason because you showed me what you really are kyle, you’re a monster who was attaching Levi just now and I’ll make sure you never hurt anyone ever again. Your killing days are over dog!” he spat lifting his gun higher. I didn’t even know what I was doing as I jumped into him but once I heard the shot ring I reached out with a speed I didn’t even know I had seized Matt’s head between my hands and gave it a hard twist as a shriek of panic left my lips.

His body dropped at my feet as I stood motionless. I looked up at Kyle who was standing in the same spot as before with a stunned expression. I noticed he was unharmed since the bullet missed him when I jumped into him.

Gulping I glanced down at my boyfriend’s body who lay lifeless with his eyes staring out vacantly. And I crumpled, falling to my knees over him.

“Oh my god” I whispered softly in disbelief. With shaky hands I reached over and shook him he didn’t move. I snapped my head up at Kyle.

“Oh my god!” I exclaimed in hysteria my body going in shock at what I had just done.

“I didn’t-” a sob left my lips and I began to shake.

Kyle finally got out of his own shock and rushed to me. He wrapped his arm around me tightly and dragged my resisting shaking form me away from Matt’s body. My throat closed at the title wave of emotions bombarding me.

“I killed him… I killed him!”
