Runaway Love

Chapter Chapter Thirteen

Beep, beep, beep.

*What is that?* I asked myself. I opened my eyes and saw I was on the couch in Oliver's living room. I slowly came to, I heard voices. I went to sit up, to notice I was attached to something.

"Hey, sugar. Welcome back." Oliver said as he started detaching the monitor. "You fainted love, just from shock, but wanted to double check, because of the baby." He explained as he packed up his portable monitor. "How are feeling?" he asked, slipping under my legs.

"Thirsty." I said, trying to moisten my mouth.

"I'll grab some water." Sean said moving around the breakfast bar. Confusion marred my face, when all it suddenly came back.

"Gina!" I yelled. "I have to go back. I have to check on her." I said, trying to pull my legs from Oliver.

"Darling, she's fine. She was knocked on the head, but John is with her and the doctor isn't worried. Our best guest is he, or someone on his behalf hit her and grabbed her phone and pulled the number." Sean said as he handed me a glass of

water.

I chugged the glass and handed it back to him, asking for more. He refilled it, but before he handed it back. Oliver cut him off.

"Sugar, careful. Don't want that coming back up. Maybe sip it this time." he cautioned as I grabbed the cup from Sean. I nodded, and took a sip.

"Sam has your phone, and is trying to call the number to get a trace, but it's doubtful he still has it if he smart. He's doing his thing to see if he can find him and see if he's on the road or still back there. It's possible he reached out but still doesn't know where you are. To be safe though, we were just discussing that we should probably move you. We don't want to still be here if he has figured it out. It's beautiful, but too isolated to do anything quickly, or get someone here quickly." Sean said sitting on the other side of me on the couch."

"So where am I going?" I asked, taking another sip of water.

"We were thinking my place. I have a nice apartment above the office. It's close to the office and systems, it's secure, there's always people there and we have access to medical equipment if we need it." Olive threw out. "It's the most obvious place, but the safest and well rounded. We don't know how long we will need to be there." he added looking at Sean behind my head. He nodded his agreement and they looked to me.

"Then it sounds like I need to pack." I said, going to get up.

"I already did, and loaded up the truck." Oliver said. I looked out the window and noticed it was dark. I must have been out for a bit. "We were just waiting on you, sugar."

"Well, then let me wash my glass and we will leave." I said standing up slowly. As I walked to the kitchen, my stomach let out a growl. I heard chuckling behind me, and walked faster, my cheeks heating.

"I'll call ahead to the diner and order us some food." Sean said moving to the front door. I quickly washed the cup and dried it, putting it back in the cupboard.

As I walked to the door to put my shoes on, Oliver was waiting.

"Are you ok, sugar?" he asked, rubbing my shoulders. I nodded and put my shoes on and grabbed on of Oliver's sweatshirts from the hook by the door. He looked at me wearily, but nodded and opened the door for me. He followed me out Sean's truck. "Ride with Sean. I have to pack up my bag, and then I'll be right behind you." He said kissing my forehead and helping me into the truck. He buckled me up and give me a kiss before closing the door.

"You ok?" Sean asked as he started down the driveway.

"Yep, but if I keep getting asked I won't be." I said, anger laced my voice. His eyebrown raised as he glanced at me. "Sorry, that was rude." I said looking at my hands in my lap.

"You've been through a lot, today and the last week, hell the last years. I'd rather you be rude than hold all that anxiety, anger, fear and hurt inside. Oliver and I are big guys, we can handle a little snark. That said, don't expect that it will be punishment free." He said turning on the road.

"Oliver and you, take it he talked to you then." I said looking out the window.

"Yes, and he was right. I have feelings, and care about you. But I'm not going to rush in and push you into anything. I'll be here when you're ready." He said like he was talking about the weather.

We rode quietly to town. I suddenly felt drained. I didn't want to sleep, as we were so close.

"Oliver is grabbing the food I ordered. We'll just head to the apartment where you can relax. We'll get some food in you and you can sleep. You look like you've been awake for a week straight." He said with a bit of humor in his voice. I grunted. He was exactly wrong, this last week had been crazy and, I had slept less due to it.

He pulled into the parking lot behind their office building. I hadn't noticed that the building was so tall, but it looked like there was two stories. He pulled me off to the side where there was a second door. He unlocked it with a keypad, and then opened it and held it for me. It was a small landing, with another door on the left wall. He entered another pin, and unlocked it with a key. I just looked at him, surprised at all he had to do just to get to the stairs to his apartment. "We told you it was more secure. There's only one more door, come on." He said holding the door open for me. We made our way up the stairs and he just a regular key to open the door. He let me in and I took in his apartment. It was clean, but a little impersonal. It was modern, and open. The door opened to a little area with a table, then it opened to a living room and eat in kitchen. The kitchen was all restuarant quality appliances. It was amazing, and it was beautiful. He set his keys on the table, and ushered me inside.

"Have a seat, I'll grab some water, unless you'd rather have something else." He said pointing to couch as he walked to the fridge.

"Water is fine." I said sinking into the plush leather sofa. I moaned as it hugged my tired body. I head his footsteps stop and opened one eye to see him frozen infront of me looking shocked. "What?"

"Don't think I've ever heard a woman just moan from sitting on a couch. It's kind of sexy." He said a smile filling his face. I grinned in response and held out a hand for a water.

"Don't think I've moaned just from sitting on a couch before, but it's soft, and my body is sore and tired. It's a balancing combination." I said opening the bottle and taking a large drink.

"Do you want some motrin?" he asked already moving from the room. Before I could respond he was back infront of me holding out his cupped hand. I smiled and took the pills. He sat beside me, with his arm over the back of the couch. "Oliver should be here any minute with the food. We'll fill your belly and tuck you in so you can get some rest." He smiled, reaching for the TV remote.

Just as he flicked the TV on, the door opened and Oliver came in with his bag and a bag of food. He dropped his bag and shed his shoes as he walked in. He dropped a kiss on my head and called us to the table. We walked over, as he pulled the food out. He handed Sean a container and then me one as we sat down. I instantly knew what I had, and got excited.

"You got my favorite french toast!" I said beaming at him.

"Thank Sean, he ordered it." Oliver threw a grin to his friend.

"How did you know?" I asked surprised.

"I remember Oliver mentioning it once or twice." he said with a grin as he opened his own container. "That's why it's on the menu." Sean said taking a bite out of his BLT.

"You guys had a say in the diner?" I asked in between bites.

"Well, we kind of own the diner with Sarah." Oliver said, munching on a fry. My eyes shot to him. "What? We save a lot in the service, and the diner was struggling. Sarah's boss was retiring, so the three of us went in on it together. We are silent partners, except I wanted this on the menu. It reminded me of you." He said blushing as he took a bite of his burger. We finished our meal in silence. Sean cleaning up as we stood.

"Go to bed, Oliver knows where. He'll get you settled and then you can sleep. You're safe here, and our boys are handling the rest. They will let us know if they need us." Sean said throwing away the trash.

Oliver grabbed my hand and led me down a hall to a bedroom. He pulled back the sheets, and handed me a towel. I saw an open door and assumed it was the bathroom-I was right. I quickly showered, and came back out to the bedroom. Oliver was sitting on the bed with just his boxers on, playing on his phone. He looked up and grinned as I came out. He got up and gave me a kiss. Making sure I was settled, he told me he was going to shower, then he'd be back. I nodded as I turned on my side, facing the bathroom. Sleep already tugging me under it's veil as I heard the shower start. I snuggled deeper into the soft pillow and mattress, and let sleep take over.
