Chapter 1168 Argument
Chapter 1168 Argument
Little Bunny was left speechless by Theodore's words.
Yes, police officers didn't take things lightly and they investigated everything thoroughly. But was it possible that these people were all in cahoots with each other? Little Bunny thought to herself that maybe the police had been bought off. Of course, she didn't voice her thoughts out loud. To do so would be to contradict Theodore, who was part of the system after all.
Instead, she said, "From what I know about Addison, I'm certain he's not capable of doing something like this. That's why I hope you or your father can help me look into this matter further. Addison's agent told me that no one is willing to listen to his side of the story anymore. So my only hope lies with you."
Theodore couldn't help but sneer at her words.
"I've already looked into it and what you see now is the result." He said.
"Can results come so quickly? Or did someone just give you an answer and you decided to believe it?"
"Little Bunny, I may be a bit careless when it comes to women but when it comes down to matters like these, rest assured that fairness and justice will always prevail. Do you think I replied on the relationship between Oscar and me to get where I am?"
"Or what?" she blurted out. Indeed, it was also because of Addison that she became so anxious that she had been unable to think logically.
Theodore looked coldly at her. He knew he was nothing in her eyes, and he had gotten used to it.
"Theodore, I don't want us to argue over this matter. That's why I went to your father for help instead of coming to you. But please understand that I have doubts about whether or not you'll handle Addison's case fairly."
"Little Bunny, I'm not as worse as you thought!" Theodore couldn't control his anger anymore, being suspected by her.
He helped her with the matter of Addison since he knew that she must be worried about that guy. So, before she said anything, he investigated everything thoroughly. But the result was that she found someone else to help and she didn't believe he would handle it fairly. If Addison Chasey had any grievances, even if it was not for the sake of Little Bunny, he would be fair and just. He treated his work without favouritism.
"Theodore, I don't want to argue with you anymore. I know what I said today will make you angry, and I can't even guarantee that what I said later won't make you even more angry. So, I hope you can stay away from this matter."
"Little Bunny, I must be crazy to care about you so much, I care about your feelings. And I'm trying to please you!" Theodore was exasperated beyond his control. "Fine, it has nothing to do with me. I want to see how you gonna save him out."
"Theodore, I hope you do what you say. You can't do anything related." She confirmed again.
So did she think that he will block it anyway, right?
Hannah had told him not to get angry with Little Bunny and respect her. He felt that his current passion was extinguished by a pot of cold water from Little Bunny, leaving no spark left. Theodore turned around and left, and then he stormed out of the house directly. When he left, I slammed the door down with great force, venting his anger.
Little Bunny felt a little guilty when she saw him leave as if she truly wronged him. But she was indeed afraid now that Theodore would do something bad in this matter. So, for now, she could only use this kind of provocation to achieve her goal.
She decided to settle Addison's issue first and apologize to Theodore.
The phone rang at this moment.
"Little Bunny, I just had someone give me a preliminary understanding of the situation with Addison Chasey, and it may differ greatly from what you told me. I have already instructed them to question the witnesses again to see what the results will be. I am worried that there may be some shady dealings involved in this matter, so I have also sent some people whom I trust the most to assist in handling it." "Mr Wold, thank you very much."
"No problems. You are Nicholas's mother, and we will still be relatives in the future."
Little Bunny didn't know how to express her gratitude.
"I will call you when there is news."
"Okay."
With that said, she hung up the phone. Laird had made it clear that there was a discrepancy between what she had said and what happened. And then she remembered what Theodore had said earlier, that the police weren't pushovers. But she didn't believe that Addison would do drugs. He was such an upstanding man, he couldn't have made such a mistake. She felt like Addison was being set up.
Little Bunny sat on her couch at home, waiting for four hours. It was already late at night and she didn't know where Theodore went after he left. He never came back.
But she didn't feel like calling Theodore. She knew they would probably argue if they met now and she didn't want to continue their conflict any longer.
Suddenly, the phone rang again.
She felt sorry to let Laird stay up so late with her since he was much older than her. But with all the media attention on Addison's case growing by the minute, time was of the essence in clearing his name as soon as possible.
She answered the phone quickly.
"Little Bunny, our investigation results are similar to what I told you earlier. There is evidence that shows Addison actively using drugs..."
"But..." Little Bunny bit down hard on her lip.
She wasn't sure whether or not she truly believed in Addison or if it was just too difficult for her to accept this outcome.
"I know you can't accept it right now but we're still investigating whether there's anything fishy going on here. I've arranged for someone to pick you up so you can meet with Addison face-to-face and ask him about his situation directly. After getting all your questions answered clearly, we'll figure out how we can minimize his charges."
Little Bunny agreed without hesitation. She indeed wanted to meet Addison herself. Besides asking about his situation, she also wanted to see how he was doing inside prison.
She just couldn't let go of him. Deep down inside, she still held onto a place for him. Therefore, it was hard for her just sit idly by.
