Chapter 97
Xyla Quest placed three of her fair, smooth fingers over her wrist before she spoke.
"Cutting refers to pressing down on the vein over here..." She said.
After that, Xyla focused on explaining the basic method of checking a patient's pulse while looking down at her wrist with a focused gaze. While she spoke, she moved her three fingers around her wrist. The way she moved and spoke was solemn.
Never at any point did she take her eyes off her wrist.
After finishing one part of the explanation, she slowly lifted her head to find that the seat across her was now empty.
Immediately, Xyla frowned slightly and turned her head around to look for Stanley.
As soon as she did so, she bumped her face against a warm body.
There was a vague scent of cigarettes and peppermint mixed into one. It was refreshing and unusual.
However, when she noticed what was in front of her, her heart instantly tightened asher face and neck turned red.
Awkward!
This was the second time she had bumped into this part of his body.
If someone had entered the room right then, they would think that she was doing something shameful.
More importantly, was he having an erection again?
"Are you preparing a special reward for me?" Stanley asked as he looked down at her playfully.
"Not at all." Xyla quickly stood up after the shock had passed. She subconsciously took one step back.
However, as she did so, she lost her balance and began to fall backward.
It happened so suddenly that her body turned cold and started to sweat.
At that moment, Stanley quickly reached out and grabbed her by the waist to prevent her from falling.
Due to inertia, Xyla's face rammed into Stanley's chest as her lips pressed against the center of his chest. Xyla's heart began to pound and her face became red and warm.
She subconsciously took in a deep breath before stepping backward and forcing herself to calm down. "Thank you," she said.
"You're welcome," Stanley replied calmly with a smile.
"About that... We... Let's continue. Why did you stand up? To be honest, it would have been fine for you to stay over there," Xyla said quickly to change the topic as she sat down. Although she tried very hard to stop herself from feeling nervous, her heart beat rate would not go down.
"I can see clearer if I'm seated nearby," Stanley said before he pulled a chair out and sat right next to her.
"Alright then..." Xyla shifted slightly away to keep a safe distance from Stanley.
After that, she pressed three of her fingers over her wrist yet again.
"Do this. Place your fingers here..." She said.
Without saying anything, Stanley placed his fingers on his wrist.
"Like so?" He asked.
"Like this... This is the most accurate position. Do you understand?" Xyla said after taking a closer look and moving his fingers around a little.
Stanley nodded as he silently looked at Xyla and waited for her instruction.
Perhaps due to what happened earlier, Xyla felt a little uncomfortable when Stanley looked at her like this.
"Look at my fingers..." Xyla said seriously.
Stanley then shifted his gaze to her fingers.
After that, Xyla continued to explain in-depth the methods of checking a patient's pulse. While she concentrated on explaining, he concentrated on listening.
