Chapter 232 Devoured
A big hand was rubbing her plump breast, and her mouth was blocked. It smelled bad, and there was a stabbing pain in her lower body. Something hard went into her lower body. The stabbing pain sobered Marie up all of a sudden. She opened her eyes and looked at Simon in disbelief. She had already locked the door from the inside, so how did that b*stard get in?
Naturally, she did not expect for Simon to be an expert in picking locks. The security lock did not stop him at all. Simon grew excited when touching Marie, and he kept kissing and touching her.
He was disgusting! Marie struggled desperately, trying to bite and punch him, but she was not able to fight Simon off. After being locked up in jail for so many years, how could Simon let go of an opportunity to have some fun? He pressed Marie down with his hand while continuing, and after some time, he finished inside of Marie.
Marie felt disgusted and angry at the same time, but she could not do anything. After Simon finished the deed, she went to the bathroom immediately.
Marie tried to force herself to vomit in the toilet for a long time but was not able to. She then turned on the shower and washed herself thoroughly, trying to wash away any marks that Simon had left on her body, but the shame in her heart could not be washed away along with it.
Back then, when Simon had taken advantage of her, she had no choice but to pretend to comply, but never had she thought that it would happen again this day. Marie really hated him so much! She had to find a way to kill that b*stard, Simon. She could not wait for even another minute!
After Tommy had left that day, he never went back to visit Loraine anymore. Loraine was furious. For another woman, Tommy was willing to forget about his biological mother, which disappointed her immensely.
Ever since Loraine had been injured and hospitalized, Edric had hired a caretaker to look after her in the hospital. On the surface, the caretaker was hired to take care of Loraine, but the truth was, the caretaker was hired to monitor Loraine's daily activities. Of course, Loraine had no idea about that. During that period of time when she was suffering in the hospital, no one cared about her except the caretaker.
Edric never showed up ever again either. He had only asked John, his executive assistant, to come and visit on the first day she got admitted into the hospital. Except for the driver, Hodge, the other servants in the Myers family did not visit her. Loraine got angry upon thinking of that. She did not treat the people in the Myers family that badly either, so why were those people so heartless?
The caretaker brought Loraine a piece of news, "I heard that Mrs. Myers is about to wake up!"
Loraine was so sure that Margaret would be paralyzed the rest of her life. She could not help but be shocked upon hearing what the caretaker had said, "Really?"
"I heard from others that it's only a matter of days until Mrs. Myers wakes up now. Mr. Myers is also very happy about it," the caretaker replied.
Loraine began to panic. Margaret would surely take revenge on her once she woke up. Plus, she had been in the hospital for so long that she had lost contact with the outside world. She did not know if Deborah and Marie had been notified about Margaret's status or not. In the end, she was unable to get through to Deborah's phone recently therefore she was not sure how things were going on with Deborah. Since she hadn't become the best of friends with Marie in the past, it was natural that she did not have Marie's contact. However, at this point, Loraine felt that she needed to contact Marie soon. Just as she was thinking about that, the caretaker spoke again, "I heard something just now."
"What is it?" Loraine asked absentmindedly.
"It's about Madam Cook. My friend Lucy who has been attending to an official recently heard that Madam Cook has been dead for many days," the caretaker said.
Loraine felt a sinking feeling in her heart. No wonder she wasn't able to contact Deborah recently, for she was dead. Loraine let a shout of surprise.
"You've been serving the Myers family for such a long time, and she was Mr. Myers' former fiancée. So, you must be very familiar with Madam Cook, right?" the caretaker asked.
"We just know each other briefly," Loraine answered.
"I heard that Madam Cook died in a car accident. Her funeral was very low profile. Everyone felt that the matter was very strange. Shouldn't they at least let her family and friends know about it? There wasn't even a word out. It's so weird!" the caretaker continued.
"What else have you heard?" Loraine asked.
"I heard that Madam Cook had done some bad deeds in the past. She must have been found out. It couldn't have been something good," the caretaker replied.
Loraine's heart thumped fast. Could it be that Steven had discovered what Deborah had done and dealt with her? If that was the case, her son and Marie would certainly not be spared. Loraine then immediately called her son, but no one answered.
At the thought that Margaret might wake up soon, Loraine did not dare to stay in the hospital much longer. She escaped from the hospital secretly when the caretaker was not there. Loraine went straight to Tommy's residence after leaving the hospital, but no one answered her even after she knocked on the door for a long time.
She asked the neighbor, who then told her that he hadn't seen Tommy for a few days. Loraine panicked. Could it be that something had happened to him? She did not dare to stay there any longer. Loraine then went to Marie's hospital, hoping to meet Marie to ask her about the situation. She dared not to go to meet Marie openly, so she hid near the parking lot and waited for Marie to appear. Coincidentally, she heard the security guards chatting in the parking lot. One of them said, "I saw a man looking for Dr. Walker in the parking lot when I was patrolling that day. The man looked very fierce, and I can tell that he isn't good news at first glance. How did Dr. Walker get into trouble with him?"
"This, I know about. Didn't a pregnant old lady come to visit that day? The woman almost bled to death. That woman is that man's wife. It is said that the woman had been drugged by someone to have a miscarriage. I heard that her miscarriage has something to do with Dr. Walker, so the man came to Dr. Walker for an explanation."
Hearing that, Loraine's heart skipped a beat. The person they were talking about couldn't be Tommy, could it?
"How could Dr. Walker do that? How was the matter dealt with?"
"That man asked Dr. Walker for compensation, and Dr. Walker agreed to it. He hasn't come here anymore after that, I guess they came into an agreement in private."
"Yeah," another security guard came over and said, "I live in the same neighborhood as the man. He's a gangster, and the pregnant woman was his mistress, a prostitute. They had always been wandering around the neighborhood in the past, but they're nowhere to be seen recently. I think they've run away together after receiving the money."
When Loraine heard that, she was absolutely sure that the person they were talking about was Tommy. That useless thing, how dare he blackmail Marie? Was he seeking death?
Loraine did not dare to meet Marie after that. She had to ask Tommy about the matter. If Tommy had really blackmailed Marie, she had to take him to apologize to Marie and explain the situation clearly. Loraine was now blinded in one eye, penniless, and she had nowhere to go. She could only pretend to be a beggar and sleep under the bridge during the day. At night, she would go looking for food in garbage dumps. Whenever she had time, she would go to her son's rented place and hang around, hoping to see him.
One night, she arrived at Tommy's apartment. When she saw a police car parked at her son's apartment along with a crowd, Loraine pretended to be an onlooker, and walked up to the crowd. Everyone was having a discussion. It was said that someone had found two bodies in a burnt ruin in the suburbs. The police had issued an inspection notice. A nightclub had reported that Rosa Skinner had been missing for a long time. The police then took Rosa's DNA from one of her hairs and compared it with the DNA of one of the bodies. Among the burned bodies, one of them was Rosa's. The police suspected that the other burned body was Tommy's, therefore, the police had come to Tommy's house and to take a sample of Tommy's hair to compare the DNA.
Hearing that, Loraine almost fainted. Among them, one was Rosa, then the possibility of the other being Tommy was 90 percent. Loraine did not dare to stay any longer and left the crowd in a state of panic. How could Tommy die just like that? Was it because he had blackmailed Marie? No! Tommy was her son, and she and Marie were allies. Marie would not hurt her son, would she?
Maybe that was not her son, but someone else. There was still a glimmer of hope in Loraine's heart. The police had not issued any reports yet, and she could only confirm the fact after they released the report. When Britney saw that Irene had agreed to let Jodie give birth to the child, she felt at ease. Right then, there was only one thing left for her to do, which was to persuade Jodie. Although Irene had agreed to it, i still would not be easy for her to deal with Jodie.
Jodie was an unmarried woman. What reason did she have to give birth to a child for Nathan without getting anything in return?
Britney was too embarrassed to talk to her, so Sophia volunteered herself to persuade Jodie. Britney relented.
Rowane's heart was extremely unsettled. Ever since she had returned from the hospital, she had been staying in her room. Her heart was jumbled up in a mess. What should she do? To be honest, she could not bear to give up on the child, because not only was the child from the man she liked, but also that the child was a living person. However, it was not a matter of whether she was willing to keep that child. It was a matter of whether Nathan was willing to let her give birth to the child.
Ever since the incident, Nathan had not returned for many days. She was no fool. She knew that Nathan was avoiding her, and she was very disappointed that she had not been able to see Nathan for the past few days.
She had actually been elated to find out that she was pregnant that day. Especially when she saw how happy Britney looked, she had some faint expectations in her heart that her pregnancy would change something.
Nonetheless, right when she had returned to her room to calm down, Rowane was shocked at her own thoughts. How could she be so despicable?
Nathan had saved her life. How could she have such a shameful thought? Furthermore, Nathan loved his fiancée so much. How could her pregnancy change anything? She did not want to lie to herself and hold on to such a fantasy, and she had to be more realistic. However, it was just that, the child really was her child. She really could not bear to part with the child!
