Chapter 224 Kicked Out Of Home
Seeing how Nathan had been so anxious over the past few days and had not mentioned about returning to Haverland, Joanne was overjoyed. She knew exactly what kind of person her brother was. When something like that had happened to him, he would definitely feel ashamed to face Irene. If Irene were to find out that her brother had an affair, then the relationship between them would be completely ruined. Thinking about what had happened that day, Joanne felt proud of her plan.
After knowing Rowane's true identity, Joanne was so excited that she could not sleep the whole night. The next morning, she felt a little dizzy when she was woken up by the alarm clock, but she still groggily got up. Then, she accompanied Britney to have breakfast.
These days, she did not dare to live her life lazily in fear of annoying Britney again, and causing Britney's hate towards her to grow even more.
During breakfast, Joanne pretended to be enthusiastic and asked Nathan if he had decided to invite Rowane to come home for dinner. If he did, she would like to prepare the meals in advance. Nathan said that he would go back to Haverland in a few days' time. He would arrange for Rowane to come and accompany Britney within the next two days.
Joanne secretly rejoiced. She asked for Rowane's food preferences, and ordered the housekeeper of the White Mansion, Bache Lewis, to personally send people out to purchase some fresh ingredients and prepare a scrumptious dinner.
Britney and Nathan were both elated to see Joanne so concerned about Rowane's visit. Nathan, in particular, for the way he looked at her was much more gentle than before. He had even apologized for troubling her.
After Nathan went off to work, Joanne accompanied Britney to the garden. She read the newspapers to Britney for a moment before realizing that it was time to prepare lunch. Then, she asked Bache, the housekeeper, if he had bought the ingredients for dinner.
Bache was incredibly efficient. He had already bought the ingredients and was in the kitchen ordering the chef to arrange them properly. When he saw Joanne come in, he hurried to invite her to have a look. Joanne checked the ingredients one by one and nodded in satisfaction. She then told the chef how to cook them and reminded him to cook up the feast with utmost sincerity.
At noon, Nathan did not return home to eat lunch. After Joanne accompanied Britney to have lunch, she took Britney to have her usual afternoon nap. After Britney fell asleep, Joanne went back to her room, picked up her phone and made a call. Then, she went downstairs and sat in the gazebo in the garden.
After a while, a young man clad in black walked over and handed Joanne a small box. He said, "Miss White, this is the item that you want."
Joanne took the box and opened it. She asked nervously, "Shawn, are you sure it works?"
A smug smile appeared on Shawn's face, "Don't worry, Miss White, I've tried it on someone, and it absolutely works fine."
Joanne nodded with satisfaction in mind and said, "Okay, I will reward you well if it works."
"Miss White is too nice. It is my honor to be able to serve you," Shawn looked at Joanne passionately, "If you need any help in the future, just seek me, and I'll take care of it properly."
"Thank you. Please take your leave first!" Joanne pretended not to see the sparks in his eyes and waved him away with a smile.
Shawn looked at her with a hint of reluctance in his eyes and turned to leave.
Joanne watched Shawn as he disappeared between the plants, and sneered, "Huh, don't you ever dare fall in love with me! You are no match for me. If it weren't for your usefulness, I would have ordered someone to gauge out those lustful eyes of yours!"
Shawn was a bodyguard of the White family. He had been working for the White family for several years. When he had first seen Joanne, he had fallen in love with her and always looked for opportunities to please her. Joanne sensed Shawn's intentions and saw that he was intelligent and sharp, so she had taken the opportunity to take him under her wing and had asked him to help her with some troubling matters. Last time, when Margaret had come to Mencodia to take Eden, she had gotten Shawn to secretly assist her. Now, she wanted to stop Nathan from returning to Haverland, so she had to ask him for help again.
After making a phone call to Lily the previous night, Joanne had called Shawn up and asked him to get something for her. Shawn had promised her without any hesitation that he would get it done by that morning.
Joanne was joyful to have received it. Now all she had to do was wait for nightfall.
Back in her room, Joanne locked the box in the cabinet and went to take a nap. Since she had not slept well the previous night, she had to take advantage of Britney's nap time to make up for her lack of sleep so that she could have enough energy to put on a good show at night.
In the evening, Nathan brought Rowane back. Britney was overjoyed when she saw Rowane. Joanne had also called her parents over. The entire family began to have a scrumptious dinner together. Joanne kept persuading everyone to drink more alcohol. Joanne's parents also supported her. Nathan was in a practically good mood because he would soon be reunited with Irene and Eden, hence he agreed and drank quite a lot.
After drinking, Nathan did not feel well and proceeded to take a rest in one of the rooms. Britney felt sorry for Nathan, hence she ordered for the chef to prepare a bowl of hangover soup for him. Joanne saw the opportunity and also ordered the chef to prepare a bowl for her too with the excuse that she was drunk too. Then, she went back to her room.
Joanne's parents soon went home after dinner. Joanne had deliberately gotten her parents to send Sophia away. The people in the kitchen would send someone upstairs after they made the hangover soup. Normally, they would send Sophia to do so, however, that night, Sophia had been sent away and no else dared to enter Nathan's room. Rowane on the other hand, had not touched any alcohol. She would definitely send the hangover soup to Nathan when she heard the people in the kitchen calling for Sophia.
As Joanne's room was right next to Nathan, Rowane would definitely bring the soup to her room first before going to Nathan's.
Soon enough, there came voices from the kitchen calling for Sophia, and they startled Rowane. Rowane went down and offered to deliver the soup to both Joanne and Nathan. She first delivered it to Joanne and Joanne lied to her that she would like to have some yogurt. After she left to get it, Joanne then took the opportunity to put the medicine into Nathan's soup.
After Nathan drank the soup with the medicine, Rowane exited his room. Joanne then approached Rowane and said she would like some water to drink.
Since Nathan had drunk a lot of wine, Rowane was also worried that he might need water, so she re-entered his room. Indeed, Nathan who had already taken the drugged hangover soup, was feeling uncomfortable in his chest and was wanting a glass of water, so she proceeded to help him to his bed and then went downstairs to get some water for him.
When Rowane returned to Nathan's room with the water, the effect of the medicine had reached its peak, and hence they did the deed.
In the past few days, Nathan's trouble expressions told her that he had not figured out that she was the one who plotted against him. Thinking of how Irene would react to the news about Nathan and Rowane's affair, Joanne smiled.
Joanne was immersed in her own joy when the door was suddenly pushed open. Nathan appeared at the door with a sullen face. Upon seeing Nathan, Joanne's heart skipped a beat. She asked, "Nathan, why are you here?"
"What have you done now?!" Nathan clenched his jaw. With a murderous look on his handsome face, he slapped something on her face, "Why are you buying this kind of stuff?"
Joanne picked it up and looked at it. She was shocked and said, "Nathan, I didn't buy this!"
"No? Shawn has confessed everything. Do you think there is any use in denying this anymore?" "Nathan! Don't believe Shawn! He's framing me!"
"Framing you?" Nathan sneered, "Why would he choose to frame you instead of other people?"
"I don't know either. Shawn is not such a simple person. He often looks at me lasciviously. He had even tried to get physical with me a few days ago. He must have wanted to get back at me after I had scolded him," Joanne lied desperately.
Nathan snorted, "Save it. Shawn has confessed to me how you had ordered him to assist you and Margaret to take Eden away last time. Do you think that you can be let off easily this time? You'd better behave yourself. Tell me, what's the purpose behind you doing all this?"
"I...Nathan! Forgive me! I'm also doing this for your own good! I-I just don't want you to be together with Irene! She already has two children with another man. She doesn't deserve you!"
Nathan was shaking with anger, "B*stard! How dare you try to paint it as a deed of kindness after doing such evil things! I must have been blind to view you as my little sister!"
"This shameless b*tch! How dare you frame her own brother! Throw her out at once!" A voice could be heard from the entrance of the room. Joanne looked up and saw Britney walking in with a face full of rage "Please forgive me, Grandma! Don't kick me out!" Joanne was shocked upon seeing Britney. Before Britney had appeared, she had hoped that Nathan would forgive her after her crying and pleading. After all, Nathan had always doted on her as she was his younger sister.
However, when she saw Britney, she knew in her heart that things would not be easy. Britney hated people framing her family, and Joanne had done exactly just that, so it would be impossible for Britney to forgive her anymore.
"Save your breath. Someone, throw her out now! From now onwards, I do not want to see her in my home!" With that, Britney turned and left.
"Grandma, please..." Joanne pleaded and looked at Nathan, "Nathan, I know I'm in the wrong now!"
Nathan looked at her in disgust and said, "Quit acting. All of that is useless. From now on, you are no longer my sister!"
With that, Nathan turned and left the room.
