Chapter 217 Pregnant
Rowane changed out of her clothes. Nathan still bought the dress regardless, but he no longer insisted on giving it to her. Rather, he held it in his hands together with the purple one. She couldn't help but ask, "Nathan, why did you buy it even though I don't want it?"
Nathan laughed and said, "Since you don't like it, I won't force you. I have a younger sister at home. I've bought it for her."
Rowane did not think much into it and she immediately believed him. She breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Then, what else do you want to buy?"
Nathan looked around and walked towards the more matured clothing aisle. He said, "I want to buy a set of clothes for my grandmother."
"Nathan, you're so filial," Rowane knew that Nathan had a grandma. She had heard from the maids who worked in the villa mention before that Nathan treated Britney very well. Clearly that seemed to be the
case.
Nathan took the opportunity to say, "My parents passed away early, and it was my grandmother who raised me and my sister. So I should be filial to her. Do you have any elderly people in your home? Do you have any memories of spending time with them?"
Rowane thought about it carefully with a frown and said, "I can't remember anything, but when I see old people, I feel very warm inside. Perhaps I used to stay with my grandparents before as well!"
In fact, Rowane's foster grandparents had died very early, and she had not spent much time with them. The reason why she felt warm towards the elderly was because she had a kind heart. She often visited the old folks home to visit the lonely older citizens there. Although she had lost her memory, her nature of caring for the elderly would not change. Hence, she would naturally feel a sense of affection when she saw them.
Nathan was overjoyed. He had hoped that Rowane would be more caring for the old. It would be better if she had experience of taking care of them. That way he would be more at ease to let her keep Britney company.
After buying a set of clothes for Britney, Nathan went to the kids' section and bought a set of boy clothes. Rowane guessed that he was buying it for Irene's son. She wanted to ask him, but since he didn't say, she took the hint to keep quiet about it. She didn't want him to think that she was too nosy.
Since there were so many things, Rowane naturally had to help him hold some. Nathan pretended to be regretful and said, "I should have called my driver over to pick me. How will I carry all these things home?"
Rowane thought for a moment and said, "I can help you carry some stuff over on a taxi. Then, I'll take the train back to the villa."
"Why don't you take a taxi with me back to the house? I won't be able to carry so many things down when I reach my house anyway. Taxis aren't allowed to go past the gate of my neighborhood area. So we still have to walk quite a bit from the gate to my house!" Of course, this was a lie. Nathan wanted to use this as an excuse to invite her home. The White Mansion was a private bungalow, not some shopping mall. There was no 'gate' that the taxis couldn't go past. After all, he was the owner of the land, he could do whatever he wanted.
"Is that so? Alright then! I'll send you home first, and then I'll take the train back to the villa," Rowane naively believed in his lie. She thought that Nathan had to be staying in a high-end neighborhood. All the residents there had to be very rich, therefore the management of the grounds would be stricter. Hence to her, it made sense that taxis would not be able to go past a certain point of the neighborhood. However she never thought about the fact that Nathan could easily call his driver or his maids to come out to help him carry all his things even if he had to get off at the gate.
"Thank you so much. You don't have to take the train later. I'll get the driver to send you back to your villa," Nathan was touched. This girl was so frugal. She would rather save money by taking the train instead of a cab.
Rowane smiled and said, "There's no need for that. I can just take the train myself. Just let me know which line I need to take."
Nathan shook his head and said, "That won't do. If you take the train, you'll also have to take the bus. And after that you also have to go through a fair bit of a walk. Since I'm troubling you so much, how could I let you go back alone?"
Rowane knew that since Nathan was being a gentleman, and there was no way he would agree to her suggestion. So, she just gave in to his idea.
The two of them left the shopping mall. Nathan hailed a cab and told the driver his address. Then off they headed to White Mansion.
Cecilia was pregnant! Although they had not been together that long, Tommy was elated beyond belief. After all, Cecilia was not young anymore and worked as a prostitute. It was a miracle that she was able to get pregnant.
Tommy felt like the child had been bestowed upon them by God. God had sent a child to them to strengthen their relationship. With the child, his mother would definitely not object to them being together. Tommy was looking forward to this child. He went online and read up on what to do during a pregnancy and how to help. For example, he found out that it was good for the mother to get some light exercise after meals to improve blood circulation. That would in turn improve the mother and the child's health. With that in mind, he volunteered to accompany Cecilia on a walk.
They strolled around like a young couple in their neighborhood. They did not care about all the staring eyes. Naturally, they did not notice that some distance away, Loraine was watching them with her mouth open in shock.
Loraine was totally stunned by her discovery! She watched as Rosa coyly called Tommy her 'darling'. She watched as Tommy kissed Rosa on the cheek and how brazen they were with displaying public affection.
Even after Tommy and Rosa had long disappeared from her sight, she still stood there, stunned. Loraine went back defeatedly to the Myers home. She felt really upset! She had never dreamed that the old woman her son had impregnated was Rosa.
Why did Rosa change her name? If it wasn't for her name change, no matter who she was, Loraine would never agree to her getting together with her son!
It was incest. It was against the natural laws of the world!
It was a long story. Loraine had been impregnated with Tommy after sleeping together with a gangster from Cat Alley. That man was Rosa's brother, Jackson. Jackson had been arrested and sent to prison. Since Loraine had no way to survive, she had sent her son to the Lewis family and left San Fetillo on her own.
For so many years, she had never thought she would have anything to do with them again. What a small world. Her own son had actually gotten together with his aunt, and had even impregnated her.
"I can't let my son get together with Rosa! But how do I tell him? I can't tell him Cecilia is his aunt Rosa. What if he can't accept the reality of it?" She thought.
Her son was so deeply in love with Cecilia. There was no way he would listen to her and break up with Rosa. What should she do?
Loraine was breaking out in a cold sweat. It was impossible for her to break her son and Rosa apart. The most important matter at hand was to get rid of the monster in Rosa's stomach, as it was a product of incest. The probability of the child being born abnormal was high. Who knew what sort of monster would come out of her? Loraine shuddered at the thought. She had to quickly sort this thing out.
Meanwhile, after so long, Margaret's condition was finally improving. The doctor said that based on her current progress, it was likely that Margaret would regain her consciousness. Edric was overjoyed at the idea. In order to prevent Marie and the rest knowing about Margaret's news, he gave strict orders to seal off all news from the hospital. Marie and the others only knew that Margaret was never waking up. After Deborah was taken away from the hospital, she had yet to return. Her phone line had been cut off as well. Lily was worried so she called Steven and asked what happened to Deborah. Steven hated Lily as well. The only reason he had not abandoned her was because she was half his flesh and bones. On the call, Steven annoyedly told her to just focus on resting well in the hospital, and that he would hire two caretakers just to look after her.
He also told her that Deborah was busy and not to worry about her. Lily wasn't a fool of course, when it came to Deborah, nothing else was more important. Her gut told her that something was off and she began to feel afraid. Could it be that Steven had uncovered their plans and was punishing them?
Lily told Marie about her worries. When Marie heard what was going on, she got a huge shock. Why would Deborah cut off her phone line just because she was busy? Something was not right, she had to find out what was going on.
Marie and Deborah had always been a team in doing all their nasty things together, so Marie never had to fight alone. Now that Deborah had suddenly disappeared, Marie was very worried. She started to ask around about Deborah, but Steven had kept the secret well. No news was leaked at all so Marie had no choice but to hire a private detective.
Right as the investigation started, Marie heard that Deborah had died in a car crash!
Apart from Steven and Lily, Deborah had no other close relatives. Hence, her death had not reached anyone's ears. Apparently, Deborah had gotten into an accident overseas. Steven had acted quickly. After confirming the body was hers, he had the body cremated. The funeral was also very lowkey.
It was Steven's personal affairs so naturally no one really cared. However, Marie could not let the matter slide. Something was very fishy about how Steven was handling the matter. There had to be something else going on that she had to find out about.
Deborah's death also surprised Edric and Irene. Irene was actually furious, because Deborah had died before Irene got the chance to take revenge. Of all the times to die, why now? Death was too easy of a punishment to her.
Edric felt the same way. That b*tch had really died in a timely manner. He was just about to set her up but she managed to escape through death.
On the other hand, Kinsey clapped her hands gleefully. Karma was indeed a b*tch. Deborah's karma had come right when she deserved it. Without Deborah's vicious planning and constant stirring up of trouble, Irene's life would be a lot better from now on. Lily would be a lot weaker on her own, especially since she was pregnant. She could not compare to her mother in terms of messing with Irene.
However, Jordan did not share the same views. He instinctively felt like there was more to the matter. Deborah's accident was too sudden. Jordan told Edric about his suspicions and Edric agreed with him. The timing of Deborah's death was too coincidental. Steven had to be hiding something.
Edric sent some men to observe Steven. Apart from his driver and Maisy, Steven had no one else close to him. Edric's men followed the two of them closely. At first, they found nothing, but after some observation, they caught the driver visiting a mental asylum.
Edric's men investigated further into the mental asylum and found out what was going on immediately. Deborah was currently being locked up inside.
