Revenge Against My Ex-husband

Chapter 210 The Truth

Irene had returned to the country for a few months already. Nathan initially thought that his factory's affairs would be resolved within a few days, and he could keep her company back in Haverland. However, the factory affairs became even more severe than he expected. Later, he was sued to court by one of his factory workers and could not go abroad at all. So, he had no choice but to stay in Mencodia. Irene had suffered loads of troubles during her days of coming back to her country. Jordan was kind enough to call Nathan to update him about Irene daily. Nathan missed Irene every day and blamed himself for not being able to split himself into two selves to accompany her. Fortunately, Jordan took care of Irene for him, so he felt somewhat relieved.

Now that the factory's affairs were basically handled, he planned to return to the country in a few days.

After work that day, Nathan did not return home. Instead, he went to a villa at the countryside.

Nathan had bought that villa last year. He intended to let Irene and Eden stay here since it was situated at the countryside. The air was clean and refreshing at the villa, so it was suitable for Eden to recuperate here.

When Nathan had initially bought the villa, Britney had not agreed to his marriage with Irene. He had thought that Irene and him could never be together, so he had purchased this villa solely for Irene and Eden to settle down. Now that Britney had agreed to their wedding, he was ecstatic and immediately renovated the villa as their future home.

Now, the villa had already been renovated. There were many flowers in the garden and there was a large field of roses. Nathan planned to propose to her in the rose garden when Irene returned.

The purpose of Nathan's visit was to look at the roses. He had also planned to bid farewell to Tammy Wood, who took care of the garden for him.

A few months ago, Nathan had rescued Rowane. She was hospitalized for almost a month. The wounds on her body were healed, but her memories were still lost in the wind.

As Rowane's purses and personal documents had been stolen when she was unconscious from the accident, no one could confirm her identity. She could not remember her name, so Nathan had no choice but to temporarily put her in his company's staff dormitory.

After a casual chat, Nathan came to know that Rowane was fond of nature. He remembered that his villa had grown plenty of flowers and trees, so he wished to let Rowane move there for a short stay. He hoped that she could hang out with the gardener and watch over the garden. A beautiful place like that could help to regain her memories back.

When Nathan arrived at the villa, he saw Rowane watering the flowers in the garden.

The sunset shone on the land and filled the sky with a beautiful multi-hued glow. Rowane was wearing a long, peach dress. She stood in the middle of the flower garden as the sunshine reflected on her silky black hair and dress, appearing as a golden glow. The scene was breathtaking, like she was an elegant fairy in the paintings.

Nathan was stunned to witness everything as he stood by the fence. He was star-struck and didn't recover for a solid one minute.

If it weren't because he knew that Irene was not in the country, he would have reckoned that beautiful fairy in the flower garden was her.

This woman who had lost her memory really resembled Irene!

Just as he was in a daze, Rowane raised her head towards him and smiled, "Nathan, you're here!"

"Yes, I came here to take a look," Nathan came back to his senses and pushed the door open before entering.

Rowane put down the watering can and approached him. She pointed at a rose plant and chuckled, "You came just in time. The rainbow roses are blooming. Look at how beautiful they are!"

Nathan looked in the direction of where her finger was pointing and saw two flowers blooming on the rose plant. The flower's colors were unique, consisting of a mix of the seven colors on the rainbow.

The species of this rose was called the rainbow rose, it was also known as the seven-colored rose, or the rose of happiness. The flower held romantic intent in the language of flowers, dreams, happiness, joy, beauty, and elegance. Besides its gorgeous color, it also emitted a sweet fragrant. This species of rose was rare, and Nathan had specially requested the gardener to cultivate it well. He planned to use it to express his affection to Irene and wanted to show her his sincerity.

Seeing the peculiar color of the rainbow rose, Nathan walked over excitedly and bent down to smell it. He sighed and said, "It really lives up to its reputation. This rose is lovely."

Rowane smiled as she looked at Nathan's handsome face. She suddenly felt a little downcast because she remembered what the gardener had told her before. Nathan had a fiancée, so he grew this rose plan as a gift to his fiancée to show his affection. She really admired this woman. Nathan was manly, intelligent, and kind. It would be a blessing to be able to marry him!

"Jodie, thank you," Nathan stood up and thanked Rowane with gratitude. Nathan gave Rowane the nickname, 'Jodie' for convenience's sake. He chose this nickname because she was wearing a jade pendant, so Nathan conveniently gave her said name.

"Nathan, you're too nice. This flower was cultivated by Gentro. I was just helping him to water it," Rowane blushed slightly. She felt embarrassed for her loss of composure just now.

How would Nathan know what Rowane was thinking? He thought that she was a shy person for blushing upon his compliment, so he developed a better impression of her. It was rare to find girls who blushed easily.

Thinking of this, he couldn't help saying, "Jodie, you really look like someone."

"Really? Who is she?"

"My fiancée," Nathan felt happy upon mentioning Irene. His face was filled with elation.

Rowane was somewhat taken aback, "Your fiancée?"

Nathan laughed and said, "Yes, her name is Irene Nelson. Your eyes and lips look a lot like hers, but she's a few years older than you."

"Irene Nelson?" Rowane frowned. She felt that she had heard of the name somewhere.

Nathan noticed Rowane's abnormal behavior and asked, "Jodie, what's wrong with you?"

Rowane hesitated for a moment and said, "I seem to be very familiar with this name."

"It's not surprising. Gentro must have told you about her before!" Nathan did not expect Rowane to know Irene personally. He thought that one of the villa's servants had told her since they had been transferred from the White Mansion. Everyone knew Irene, so it would not be strange for them to tell Rowane about her.

"Perhaps," Rowane knew that the people here had never mentioned Nathan's fiancée's name to her. However, she did not think that it would be possible for her to know Nathan's fiancée on a personal level for it would be too big of a coincidence, and she did not bother about it.

Nathan admired the roses again for a while. He watered the plants together with Rowane for a while before entering the villa with her. They sat on the sofa together in the living room. Nathan told Rowane abou his plans to return to Haverland and took his phone out. He said to her, "Jodie, sit properly. I'll take a photo of you."

Rowane felt that he was being weird, "Why do you want to take a photo of me for no reason?"

"I plan to share your photo with my friend and get his help to check around to see if he can identify you. Also, I'm going back to Haverland, and it'd be convenient for me to take a look around," Nathan had beer busy with the factory's affairs these days, so he could not help investigate Rowane's identity. Since he was going back to the country, he planned to share Rowane's photo with Jordan to get him to find out real identity.

Rowane was overjoyed. She quickly groomed her hair and clothes and sat up straight for Nathan to take photos of her.

Nathan raised his phone and took two close shots of her. After chatting with her for a while, he went back to the White Mansion.

After returning home, Nathan decided to make a phone call to Irene and tell her that he was going back to the country.

Irene's voice sounded slightly tired from the other end of the line. Nathan felt his heart race and picked up on it immediately, "Irene, are you feeling unwell?"

Irene chuckled, "No, I'm completely fine."

"You have to pay more attention to your health. Now that you're pregnant and you have to take care of Eden, you mustn't tire yourself out," Nathan's heart ached when he thought of the hardships that Irene was going through now. He gave her a few reminders before hanging up.

Nathan did not feel assured from his phone call with Irene and hurriedly called Jordan to ask about Irene's situation.

"I was just about to call and report to you!" Jordan shared in a serious tone about Margaret's accident and that she was in a coma. He added that Loraine had also accused Irene of the culprit.

Nathan was shocked, "How could this happen? Irene couldn't have done that."

Jordan replied, "I believe Irene too. She's kind-hearted, and no matter how much she hates someone, she would never lay a finger on them. She must have been framed."

"Does Edric trust her?" Nathan was somewhat anxious that Edric would vent his anger on Irene as Edric was a filial son in his impression.

"Edric and Irene used to be husband and wife, so he understands Irene better than any of us. It's only natural that he trusts her," Although he never had a good impression of Edric, he had seen how much trust Edric had in Irene. Jordan was impressed with him and no longer despised Edric as much as before.

Nathan thought that Jordan's words made sense. If Edric did not know Irene well, then those years as her husband would go to waste.

Jordan added, "Edric is getting people to investigate this matter. I'm assisting in the investigation too, and things are getting interesting."

Nathan breathed a sigh of relief and said, "That's good. I'll be back in Haverland in a few days, and I'll look into it with you. We must prove Irene's innocence."

"Okay, we'll talk about it when you come back."

Nathan shared his decision to return to Haverland with Britney over dinner. He also told her about Margaret's injuries and comatose state. However, he did not tell her about Irene being set up because he was afraid that Britney would overly worry.

"Sigh, what a pity," Britney had always been merciful. Although she disliked Margaret for coming to Mencodia to bring Eden away, she immediately forgot about her wrongdoings in the past the moment she heard that Margaret's life was in danger. She sympathized with Margaret deeply.

Instead, Joanne grew angry as she listened from the side, "There is no need to pity someone like that. This is karma since she had mistreated Irene and snatched Eden away despite his poor health. She deserves this."

Britney glared at her discontentedly, "What are you talking about? She's already in such a terrible state, yet you're still taking pleasure in her misfortune."

"Madam Britney, I'm just trying to defend Irene!" Joanne pursed her lips and did not dare to say anything more.

She had already heard about the matter from Lily and knew that Edric was suspecting Irene as the culprit. She also knew that he despised Irene for her actions. So, Nathan's urgency to return to the country was definitely because of this matter.

Previously, she had heard from Lily that Edric and Irene had an argument. Joanne was over the clouds upon knowing that both of them could not ever get back together. She hoped that Edric would never forgive Irene. However, she felt slightly worried amidst her ecstasy.

She hated Irene to the core and wanted Irene to be gone from the Earth's surface. So, she naturally did not want her to have a happy ending with Edric. However, if Irene and Edric were quarrelling, Irene would more likely return to Nathan's side. That would be even harder for her to accept.

Nathan was going back to Haverland to visit Irene this time. She felt even more anxious thinking about it. Dinner was tasteless as her mind kept thinking of ways to stop him from returning.
