“She left?” I repeated, totally disappointed. 

“Yes,” the receptionist confirmed. 

I gnawed at myself as I processed the situation. “What an ungrateful brat she has become so daring unlike before,” 

Returning the hotel key, I made my way to my car and drove back home. The throbbing headache persisted. I took medication to numb the pain, eventually succumbing to sleep to escape the pain. 

I woke up, and my stomach rumbled, I held on and sat up on the bed when I heard the sounds of plates emanating 

from the kitchen. 

“Is that Selena?” Lasked myself, before I recall what happened in the morning, “Perhaps I’m still dreaming,” I mused as I stood up from the bed. 

I made my way to the kitchen, opening the kitchen door to see David sipping juice straight from the fridge. 

“What do you think you are doing?” I asked, starling David as he quickly turned with the juice can on his mouth. 

“What’s up, bro? I saw you sleeping when I came, so I didn’t border you”

“Your fridge is empty and I’m hungry as hell“. David turned to re–survey the empty fridge.

“Me too,” David answered, setting the juice back in its place. “How about we hit a restaurant for some food?” 

“Sure, but I need to throw some decent clothes on.” Excusing myself, I got dressed in a pair of faded jeans, a soft 

cotton T–shirt, and a stylish jacket. 

David and I pulled up in front of TD restaurant, the scent of grilled meats and spices. We parked the car, stepping out and I followed David towards the entrance of the restaurant. Selena POV 

“What? A bastard?” the man asked, taking steps to Colin. 

“Yes, a bastard,” Colin retorted, taking steps to him as well. 

“After getting my white stained, you have the guts to call me a bastard?” he yelled back. 

“If you don’t shut your mouth and apologize for yelling at her, I’ll do more,” Colin declared. 

“What’s wrong with him?” I asked Myself, quickly I intervened pushing Colin aside. 

“Sir, we are sorry,” I pleaded, closing by both palms.

Just then the restaurant’s security guards entered, “Sirs, ma’am, it would be best if you three leave this restaurant. You are disturbing the other customers,”

I turned around to see other diners looking at us, some reaching for their phone to take pictures and record what was happening, realizing that I quickly took my bag. Without hesitation, I pushed Colin forward to the door, while Jasper followed closely behind.

“Hmmm” escaped my lips and I moved my eyes from Colin, who was still smiling and Jasper, whose face now had a more serious look that wasn’t funny in any way. 

“Oh my, I forgot my bag” I Said, and ran off from their presence towards the street, waving down a taxi that was speeding by, and quickly got in. 

Settling into the backseat of the taxi, I sighed. “What did I just do? What’s wrong with me these days?” I pondered. 

Still lost in thoughts, my phone began to ring, the screen displaying Jasper’s name as the caller. I hesitated, tom between knowing Jasper’s feelings for me and the promises I had made to myself, my mom, and Lisa to keep my distance from Colin, whose past actions I still couldn’t recall. 

I couldn’t pick up and the phone kept ringing unanswered “What should I do?” I whispered to myself. Unable to bring myself to pick up, “I’m sorry, Jasper,” I whispered and quickly ended the call. 

I leaned back against the car seat, feeling so remorseful for the tangled mess I had just done.
