Chapter Once You Fell
We walk around asking to be loved. Wanting to fall in love so effortlessly with every stranger we get to know. But are too terrified of who will hurt us next. We are over-protective of our hearts. Too worried about the next heart break to come your way. Or who will play with your heart like it was on a string only to be controlled by the puppeteer. But even in our worst amount of pain from heartbreak, we still go looking for the simplest thing of in life which is that of love. We are not so blinded by the moments of our past which we have used to guard our hearts.
You once fell for a boy, who was so handsome he could blind you with that smile. He was so kind, so mysterious, so different. He made you believe that he would never hurt you. Or he was always going to be there for you. He was that first love you heard so much about but never thought you would see at this young of age. You let yourself become susceptible to that pain, you would not see until the hourglass stopped dropping the sand. You once fell for a boy, not knowing the what was to come.
He was that incubus you could not resist. Dragging you down the what felt like death, but only to take your soul away for that time being. He was so handsome, so different, so luring, but so much trouble.
You once fell for a girl, so lost in her own world. She was a magical creature, alike those mermaids you would read about. You had the time of your life, swimming in her waters. Not a care to give, because she was the most beautiful person you had encountered. But while you were falling and losing touch with reality, there were the signs of pain approaching.
She was lost in her own world. She would not care if she left yours broken. As time flew by, she was dragged down to an unbreakable period of her life. Lost in such a pain you would not be able to bare. Never realizing the broken heart, she had left behind her storm. She became a creature of myth. A siren singing her song of destruction to break every man she encountered.
But as time has changed, she has changed. Now, she cannot hurt a soul like she has done in her past. She was something else when she found her soul once again. She was lost for so long, that no one believed she was the kindest person who changed. We look for the worst in people when seeing who they are. But she was no different than that boy you once fell for. She was in another world, just as he was. He was damaged by the love he lost, just as she was.
Once you become heart broken, you end up putting a wall up. You become afraid to love so you play a game until you finally meet someone who makes you want to give that us. You do not lose. You do not belittle yourself. You become happy. You become reasonable. You become someone new. But people will judge your past. You are not a siren, not an incubus. You are much more than just your past.
We get lost in our moments that caused us our most pain. Those lost moments affect us all in a different. But those exact lost moments turned me around. They made me realize love was much more that ‘I love you’. They showed me it was the simple things in life. Like the way someone speaks to you which an amount of respect and trust. Or like how they look at you and just think you are the best-looking person on this planet. It showed me that love was like the first day of spring, so hopeful and blossoming. It showed me it was the moment the sun sets and rises. It showed me that love was when summer turns to fall and fall turns to winter. It showed me that it was rain and good books. Or simple movies you enjoy. It showed me love is so much greater than being pulled on a string controlled by a puppeteer. It has pain involved, but it has growth in it more.
There is not a moment in this world where we get used to the pain brought to us by the ones we have loved. You once fell for a boy, who was not your person. He was not meant for you that is why he destroyed you. You once for a girl, unlike anyone you ever met. The ways she talked drew you in like a siren normally would. But she was not yours. She was another’s priceless moment in happiness for their lifetime. Heartbreak followed you, but it is there to show that love is beautiful and meant to have an obstacle. But only obstacles to show that you two are worth more than the pain for each other.
We walk around asking to be loved. Wanting to fall in love so effortlessly with every stranger we meet. In hopes that we will find our one. But the moment we do, it will be the simple things that make us happy to be around them. Keep that in mind. We walk around asking to be loved, but never asking to be seen by the one we were meant for.
