Chapter 61
Sabrina had never called Nelson that in their three years of marriage.
In the past, his attitude intimidated her so much that she dared not address him so intimately.
Now, she wasn't afraid anymore.
When drunk, she became listless and sounded gentler than usual. He found it seductive.
"What did you call me?"
Nelson wrapped his arms around her waist.
"Hubby! Aren't we married?" Sabrina said as she rested her face in the crook of his neck and smiled with satisfaction.
Nelson looked down at her. She wore the same smile she had when they had gotten married.
After putting her coat on, he carried her out of the private room.
The cold night wind relieved Sabrina's dizziness a little.
Upon opening her eyes, she saw Nelson's tense jawline, which looked sharp.
She felt that it was a similar scene to when they had just gotten married.
Her mind was fuzzy, and her eyes hurt. She finally felt better after shutting her eyes.
After they got into the car, Nelson pinned her against the car door and kissed her. Sabrina felt suffocated under his weight. She tried to push his face away.
However, he grabbed her wrist.
"Get off me, you rotten apple!"
Nelson found her amusing.
She couldn't move, so she could only glare at him. It excited him even more.
He held her neck and forcefully tried to kiss her again.
Sabrina gritted her teeth and twisted her body in resistance.
"Sabrina, is this how you behave?"
She had flirted with him while drunk and denied it after that.
The lights outside the window flickered across her face. Her gaze appeared dazed, like an innocent fawn in the forest.
This reminded Nelson of the first time he saw her at home when she asked his parents' permission to have him.
Her eyes had sparkled the same way.
"Didn't you say you wanted me?" Nelson asked.
Sabrina became confused again.
"Like that?"
"Yes..."
The driver glanced at the rearview mirror. Nelson was leaning over Sabrina aggressively as if he was already kissing her.
The driver dared not look any longer and sighed.
He thought that Nelson was shameless for deceiving Sabrina like this.
The faint smell of alcohol grew more intense as Nelson and Sabrina kissed. Sabrina was utterly disoriented as she clung to his neck.
Suddenly, a buzzing phone call made Nelson tense up and stop.
Sabrina tilted her head back unhappily and looked at him in confusion.
"Let's go home," Nelson said.
He brushed his thumb across her alluring red lips. Then, he straightened his clothes and embraced her.
Sabrina's phone rang again in her bag.
Nelson pulled it out and answered, "Sabrina can't answer right now. She won't be going home tonight."
Abigail fumed when she heard Nelson's voice.
"You jerk! Let Sabrina answer the phone! Who are you to say that she won't be coming home?"
Nelson was at a loss for words.
At the sight of Sabrina smiling at him, he handed her the phone.
"Hi, Abby."
"Sabrina, did you drink hard liquor?"
"I got married today, so no drinking."
Abigail was rendered speechless.
Whenever Sabrina drank alcohol, she would behave as though not a drop of liquor had passed her lips. However, she would even mistake a dog for Abigail. Thus, Abigail wouldn't be surprised if Sabrina thought she was getting married.
"Nelson, I'm warning you. Don't touch her while she's drunk, or I'll make you pay."
After letting out a chuckle, Nelson hung up the phone.
He was overwhelmed by her teasing. How could he not touch her?
But when they got home, Sabrina fell asleep in his lap.
Still guilty about the brooch incident, he decided not to disturb her. He simply cleaned her up and let her sleep.
Joanna made some hangover soup and brought it up to them. She saw Nelson sitting on the couch, watching Sabrina as she slept in the bed.
Sabrina's long hair cascaded over her fair back, exposing only one shoulder. Even so, Joanna could still imagine her pure and delicate beauty. She understood why Nelson was so captivated by Sabrina that he had even forgotten to dry his hair.
Joanna had anticipated things turning out this way and genuinely felt happy for Sabrina.
She left with the hangover soup and closed the door on her way out.
When Sabrina woke up the following day, it was already daylight. Nelson's arm was wrapped around her waist, which made her frown. She saw Nelson sleeping beside her, with herself in his arms.
Moreover, she wasn't wearing any clothes.
She wondered how it ended up like this.
She seemed to remember clinging to his neck and kissing him passionately. She could vaguely feel him touching her as well.
With a sigh, she turned over and got out of bed.
She draped her underwear over her arm. Without thinking twice, she knew it was Nelson's doing. He wondered why he couldn't have changed her into pajamas.
She tried to fasten the bra on her own. But she was so angry that she struggled with it.
The clasp was fastened as she felt Nelson accidentally brush his fingers across her back.
Sabrina grabbed a pillow to cover herself and glared at him.
While resting his head on his arm, Nelson looked at her waist. It was fair and slim, with visible abdominal muscles. Her legs were long and slender.
Nelson's gaze darkened.
Sabrina shot him a glare and ran to the dressing room.
He sighed. He had no choice but to take a shower.
As Sabrina was having her breakfast, Nelson approached and stood before her.
She frowned when his position blocked the light from her view. Thus, she left the eggs on her plate and got up to leave.
Nelson grabbed her arm.
"Let's talk."
"About our divorce?"
Sabrina turned to look at him.
"Last night, you were calling me hubby with every breath."
Nelson raised his eyebrow teasingly.
"After drinking hard liquor, I would even call a pig my husband. In college, I once hugged a dog on our campus and called it Abby."
If he believed her, he'd be an idiot.
Nelson was struck speechless.
"I didn't know the brooch was your father's keepsake."
Sabrina paused and finally looked at him solemnly. The injuries on his face were barely noticeable now. His features were striking and well-defined.
His expression was sincere, and he didn't appear to be lying.
However, Sabrina was puzzled about how Pamela knew about it if Nelson didn't know the brooch was Sabrina's father's keepsake.
"Sabrina, I'm not cruel enough to intentionally trouble you with that..." he continued.
"I'm sorry for hurting you."
Sabrina felt a pang in her chest.
She looked at Nelson and retorted, "Even if you knew about it and despised me, would you still have given me the brooch if Pamela requested it?"
Nelson simply looked at her without saying a single word.
Sabrina smiled, understanding his silence. She knew that his answer was no.
