Chapter 57
"No. Let's wait a little longer," Sabrina said to Abigail.
Seeing that Sabrina was well aware of the situation, Abigail did not press further.
The thought of eating pan dulce delighted her. However, thinking about the chaotic online gossip had her fuming, let alone Sabrina.
"What about you? Are you okay?"
"I don't care about him anymore. How could I possibly not be okay?" Sabrina replied with her eyebrows raised.
Abigail hugged her and chose not to say anything else.
On their way home, Sabrina asked Abigail, "Abby, do you want to act again?"
Abigail was a talented actress. At just 17, she had won the Pegasus Award for Best Actress. Whether in film or fashion, she stood out as a true trendsetter.
Abigail paused momentarily. When she quit the entertainment industry four years ago, the thought of returning never crossed her mind.
In the past few years, she had been on the sidelines of the industry with several mediocre actors. She was making ends meet but without any substantial breakthrough.
Sabrina looked at her best friend.
She pondered briefly before adding, "You just have to decide if you want to act again."
Abigail returned to her senses.
"Is there anything I need to consider?"
"For instance, what about that man?"
Sabrina glanced at her.
"Weren't you so terrified of him that you dared not act and returned to Slitton to hide?"
Abigail scoffed in response.
"Well, I'll seriously consider your suggestion."
Back at the Wyatt manor, Sabrina no longer needed to be cautious or poised. She felt much more at ease and slept until the next day.
It was almost noon, yet she lounged on the couch in her pajamas.
When Nelson arrived at the Wyatt manor, he found Sabrina upside down on the couch, reading a book with her legs draped over the backrest. He wondered if he was looking at his wife, who always dined with grace.
Sabrina assumed it was Abigail when she heard the sound of footsteps.
With her eyes glued to the book, she quipped, "Would you mind peeling an apple for me like a good servant?"
Michelle, carrying a basket of vegetables, cleared her throat and called, "Sabrina..."
"Yeah?" Sabrina responded absentmindedly.
She then lifted her head to look. Only then did she notice Nelson gazing at her with his head lowered slightly.
Sabrina immediately rolled off the couch and sat on the carpet, staring at Nelson. His hands were in his pockets, and a smirk played on his lips.
She straightened her hair before settling back onto the couch.
"W-What are you doing here?"
"I called you last night, but you didn't answer. You weren't at your place either," Nelson answered.
As he spoke, he glanced at Sabrina's pajamas. It had blue and white stripes with a large image of a goose. It seemed childish, making her look like a kid.
Nelson had never imagined she would have such a lively personality.
Abigail emerged with dessert. Her face fell the moment she saw Nelson.
"What are you doing here? You're not welcome!"
Nelson remained silent.
When Cheryl emerged from the kitchen, her gaze fell on the tall man in the living room. She turned to her daughter.
"Sabrina, why haven't you offered our guest a seat? It's rude."
"Alright, Mom. You go on ahead with your tasks."
After saying that, Sabrina ushered Nelson to the family room.
"What on earth are you doing here?" she questioned hushedly.
Nelson was displeased with her cautious demeanor.
"Are you so afraid of your mother discovering who I am?"
His words prompted Sabrina to scoff.
"We've been married for three years, and my mom has never met you once. Do you think it's necessary for her to know who you are?"
With that thought in mind, Sabrina could not help but feel that she used to be so foolish. She wondered how she could have possibly sacrificed herself and her family like this simply for the sake of love. Nelson stared at her for a moment.
"Well then, how about I formally meet my mother-in-law today?"
Sabrina immediately stood before him upon hearing that. Her stance made it seem like she was facing a formidable enemy.
"What exactly do you want?"
She was impatient and unhappy. Her face was devoid of makeup, and it looked fresh. The mole on her nose could have made her fierce. Instead, she appeared like a playful kitten extending its claws. There was no sense of menace. Nelson found it strangely adorable.
"Mr. Nash is leaving Slitton. Come with me to see him off," Nelson uttered.
"Nelson, what makes you think I'll go with you?"
After the online uproar involving him and Pamela the day before, Sabrina was not anticipating his explanation.
