Chapter 21
Chapter Twenty–One: The Prenuptial Agreement
“Get off my way!” I moved past the guards as I shuffled myself in. Thomas had taken the news so well that his chance of winning was sure. He had gotten more security and invited the press for an
interview.
“Thomas!”
“Thomas!”
1 barged into the middle of the meeting.
“What’s wrong, Regina?” He played cool.
““Put the cameras away,” he announced, but the lights from the camera still flashed in my face.
“Why did you do it, Thomas?”
“What are you talking about? Regina, we can’t talk here; put the camera down!”
“You have always been so selfish…” He pulled me away before I could say my next words in an inner room free from the press.
“What are you doing, Regina? Haven’t you done enough?”
“Enough? Oh, this is just the beginning.”
“I didn’t leak your video, but sometimes I wish I did.”
“Lying has never been your thing.”
“Whose thing has it been? Look, you can think whatever you want, but I didn’t do this. Just take your plight elsewhere; as you can see, I’m with the press, and with you out of the picture, they seem to love
me.‘

“If you haven’t done this as you claimed, then who did?”
“I guess you have even more enemies than you thought you had. But I won’t blame whoever did this. Your presence irks everyone. I need to get back to my meeting; stay out of my way!” He walked out through the door, and I followed him behind. “Wait!” I called out.
“What is it, Regina?” He asked in a higher tone.
“I went to see Rick.”
“What?” Just then, the press had sighted us and rushed towards us. Thomas tried pulling me back into the room again, but I wouldn’t bulge.
“He told me everything, Thomas.”
“What’s going on here?” Catherine walked in on us. She seemed dressed for the press; maybe Thomas would be showing her off today as his bride.

“Regina is here again; that’s what’s going on here.
“Can you not sign the divorce papers already so that this bitch can leave us alone for once? Her repetition is going down, and she needs to go down alone.”
Thomas said nothing, just as I predicted.
“Tell her Thomas, or I’ll tell her myself!” 1 barked.
“Tell me what, Thomas?!”
“Catherine, it’s nothing; don’t listen to this woman; she is only bitter.”
“Oh really?” I smiled.

“Thomas, what is she talking about? Oh, I see you s
love her, right? That’s why you have refused to
sign the divorce papers. I get it now! Maybe she is right; you are such a selfish person.
“I can’t sign the divorce papers because I signed a prenuptial agreement with my father’s lawyer twenty years ago!!
As the words fell off his lips, my contentment was certain, and a wry smile crossed my lips.
“What?” Catherine was just as I was when I first heard the words from Rick that day.
!!!
“Yes, if I sign those divorce papers, I get nothing.”
“Hold, Thomas, you are the billionaire, right? You own all the companies you work for, right?”
“No, Catherine.”
“So, you aren’t the heir to the empire; Regina is.”
“Yes, her father was the founder of a multibillion–dollar company.”
I turned towards Catherine and said, “Shocked right? Yeah, I was shocked too when Rick told me everything. My father made sure Thomas signed it because he didn’t trust him. But Thomas, the man. I claimed to love, always made me feel less of myself. I was given just a portion of my wealth. How Ironic. I’m glad to say that every fucking thing, including this house and those shoes you’re wearing, belongs to me. You and Thomas can go do our love story elsewhere.”
“He won’t sign those divorce papers.”
“oh yes,
he will, because the press now has the story on air.” I giggled. Victory felt so good at this point. Thomas would be at the top of the story, and everyone would forget about the video. For once in my life, Thomas had nothing hurtful to say back to me. I saw the despair in his eyes, the same I had had for so long. He pressed down on me just to get the shine. Everyone knew Thomas Miles as the billionaire, but no one knew me; if they did, it was because I was married to him.
“You’d hear from my lawyer, Thomas, and this time you’d have to sign it.”
I shuffled through the press as they rushed to Thomas to milk the story from him. The crowd, noises, and bright light flashing from the camera all sparked in my head as I made my way out. As soon as I

closed the door of the car, they all went silent–the voices in my head that told me I couldn’t do it. self -doubt, regrets, and pessimist talk. It was mute up there, and the tranquility gave a rush of peace.
““I did it,” I muttered.
“I did it!” I screamed, which paved the way for wide laughter.
“You did it, Regina; now he will finally sign those divorce papers.” Angela commended and continued, “We should celebrate this; I’ll get us a bottle of wine.”
“Thank you.
“I can’t believe Thomas had to conceal such from you.”
“He didn’t actually conceal everything. I knew I had a great deal of wealth, but the prenuptial agreement was out of the picture.”
“Wait, you mean you knew all along that you had such money to your name and you let Thomas bully you all the time?”
“He was my husband, and I loved him; I didn’t think all those mattered.”
“Well, I guess you do now. But I’m still very proud of you, girl. Cheers to many more days of riches. and a successful divorce.”
The glass clung, and we both took a sip from it.
“What’s wrong, Regina? I thought you would be happy that you finally did this.”
“I am happy. Trust me, I am. Just a little worried.”
“What’s wrong?”
“Thomas didn’t leak that video.”
“What? He told you so.”
“Yes.”
“And you believed him?”
“I think I did.”
“Regina, you believed that lying cheated? You are so unbelievable right now.”
“There was something about his eyes that seemed to be telling the truth about that.”
“That dick lied to you for twenty years, and now you suddenly believed him because something in his eyes told you to?”
“It’s not like that. But what if someone else did it?”
“And who would this person be, Evans?”
Chapter Twenty–One: The Prenuptial Agreement
“No, maybe a kind of new enemy I don’t know about.”

“Don’t overwork your head with this. Thomas did this, and he will be punished for it. All you have to do right now is celebrate your victory and get all that is rightfully yours.
“Yeah, I need to see Evans; we weren’t on our best terms the last time I was there.”
“Maybe you should give him space.”
“Space? No, I can’t do that.”
“You suddenly love him now? Don’t tell him you are after all you said about him.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“I don’t get it.”
“Evans sent this to me last night. He said you dropped this text in his DM.”
“What text are you talking about?”
