Chapter 127: Burden of Love And Legacy
Kyle's POV
"A whole lot of processes, but first you need to find her, and if you don't, then you'd know it was clearly a mistake, " Nathan commented as I opened the door leading to the inner part of my rented apartment. Stepping in, "Of course Nathan. I'll try to find her. I surely will," I said.
"But you know, not every one would clearly believe that you lost a round just because you saw a familiar face. Perhaps that fight was tough after all," he teased, settling on a sofa and stretching his legs towards a stool. I looked at him, understanding what he said and meant.
Sitting down and unbuckling my shoe, "To hell with their beliefs Nathan. They all saw the first round. My opponent was clearly no match for me. He only did what any fighter would do during the second round; take advantage and win. That's what happened and that's why he won, "I said, putting my shoe aside and relaxing my legs on another stool.
"Alright then, so what could possibly explain the time lapse during the third round?" he asked, folding his hands behind his head and smirking, closing his eyes. He clearly felt he had caught me there, for I couldn't render the same explanation I gave earlier.
"Well, you see, the third round was...... strange... that's the word... strange. The third round was quite strange, for he unbelievably learnt all my tactics and wittiness in sword fight, using them against me. Could you believe that?" I asked, raising my hands up and looking at him. He didn't open his eyes, but nodded, still wearing a mocking smile on his face.
"Yeah, I could believe that. I'm also ready to believe that he taught you a good lesson, taming your tail and showing you the art of concentration in swordsfight. He was a good match," he replied.
"No he wasn't, he just used what he learnt at the spot against me, that's all, " I said, trying to defend myself. Inwardly I respected my opponent's art of mimicry.
Nathan sat upright, looking seriously at me, "So tell me about you, Kyle. What I heard you say earlier threw a light on your past. Who's...." he made a face trying to recall the name I made mention of earlier.
"Who's who?" I asked, feigning ignorance at his incomplete question.
He squeezed his face the more as he tried to pronounce it, ".... it's the name of a ancient greek god... Zeus.... Yes...... Who's Zeus?" he asked.
"Zeus, is the present authority in moonlit pack, the pack I and my..." I paused, not knowing the name to call Ryker.
"I and the man I grew up to know as my father, he ruled, for a while, only for me to discover that Zeus was actually my father and Ryker was Lyra's father, " I said, summarizing my story into a very short sentence, hoping to keep him from asking more questions.
"Who's Lyra? You'll only know your way around this pack if you tell me all I need to know about her, Kyle. I'll help you to find her, "
He was true. For me to find Lyra, I must trust her story and description on someone that I could trust, and Nathan was the only one available at the spot, so I narrated.
"Lyra.....hmmm" I exhaled, sure that my description of her would take me a while to make. My story could take up the whole day, so I tried to make it as short as ever.
"I'll start somewhere. We grew up together in moonlit pack under the leadership of Ryker as the Alpha, I trained her to be a good fighter, discovering her werewolf abilities and hiding it from the Alpha, my father. Then a lot of bad things happened," I stopped, walked up to the cupboard and prepared local tea for both of us.
"And then what?" Nathan asked, seemingly interested in knowing the end.
"The rest is terrible history, Zeus showed up, revealing he was my father, Lyra getting heart broken that Ryker was her father and we knew it all along.... "I was interrupted. "We?" he asked, taking a gulp of the tea.
"Yeah, we.... Aria and Merida, her friends and company in the pack. One a witch and the other a sort of Queen mother, " I explained.
"
This tea's good," he said, finishing it up.
"Want some more?" I asked, offering to pour some more to his cup from the jug I brought.
"Why, of course. Never tasted such in a long while," he said, putting forth his cup towards the jug." Good companions she had if you asked me, sarcastically though," he said.
"I hope Zeus hasn't forced them to turn into trolls," I said rather jokingly." He's that kind of Alpha, "
"But, you grew up around Ryker, right?"
"Yes I did. He wasn't all you'd love to have in a father. He wasn't the father figure anyone would want. So Zeus offered to be all that Ryker wasn't, so I fell for his schemes. I failed to go after Lyra," I narrated, dropping my cup on the stool in front of me and rubbing my forehead with my left palm.
"Oh, I get how you felt. I never knew my father. I only discovered I was an Omega few months ago. My mother bore five children from five different men," he said. " So where do you think she ran out to? Lyra I mean?"
"Well, I forgot to mention that we actually mated, we had the mark, but a while after she left I woke up to a clean skin, the mark erased, "
"That means a lot if you'd ask me. She could have found another lover, or may just want to start life anew," he said, taking the second cup of my tea. " hmmm, what is it made of?" referring to my tea.
"Well it's called Zavarka, and it's made with black tea leaves, bergamot oil and jam, " I explained, quite satisfied that someone loves my tea recipe.
Nodding his head in approval and taking the last gulp of the tea, "Well, do you still love her?" he hit the bomb shell.
"Nathan, I lost a round in the tournament just because I believed I saw her from afar.. Of course I'm head over heels in love with her, and I'll fight to get her back. I was her first mate, " I replied, dropping my cup with a loud bang on the stool. "Is Ryker dead?" Nathan asked.
"Yes he is, he died once upon a time," I teased.
"So Lyra obviously has no one left with her to call family?" Nathan asked.
