Paranormal Agency BOOK 2 : THE FUNERAL HOME.

chapter 25

The days went by slowly in the mental institution. She felt sad thinking that nothing could make this ability go away.

Alison could remember the last thing she saw before passing out for the last time was a ghost banging its head against the wall and crying out “THE BLESSED ARE DEAD. THEY”RE DEAD.” Whatever that was supposed to mean.

That was when she spoke it. The magical words. “But you’re dead. Dead after all,” She screamed to the figure banging its head against the wall and frightening her.

The ghost stopped and looked at her. “Dead?” he asked carefully. She squeezed her eyes shut, scared that he might attack her. When nothing happened, she opened them again. “I’m dead.” He asked, his voice becoming peaceful again.

“Yes,” she cried, tears welling up in her eyes. “You’re dead so go to heaven and leave me be.”

That was the magical word apparently. “You’re dead. Now go to heaven.”

The ghosts face turned from green to a golden glowing color. The sky opened and the ghosts disappeared little by little, ascending to heaven naturally and safely.

Alison realized now that she didn’t just have the power to see ghosts, but the power to save them. That meant something to her and she felt a fullness in her chest she had never felt before. She watched as all the spirits in the room were exorcised and ascended to heaven and the room took on a golden hue, having been purified by Alison’s natural powers.

She closed her eyes and passed out.

Days passed. Weeks even.

Alison felt a little better as the months turned to years. When she was eighteen, she was released from the institution and declared sane again. She had simply told them she was better now and the ghosts were gone and obviously a delusion of her own making. Yeah right.

She felt better knowing that she was free of the crazy place.

She headed out of the place, her first day of freedom, her head clearer and her heart set on moving on. Two years. She had survived two years as a patient and now she was free to discover herself as a new Alison. A new person that could overcome and deal with her newfound power as a psychic and find happiness.

Happy.

Because that was what she wanted.

To be happy.

She finished high school. Studied business in college. Then she opened her business. A secret little company she liked to call McCarthy’s Paranormal agency. Why the hell not? She had become an expert by then. The voices no longer bothered her as she had become used to them. The images of the dead no longer tore at her because they were just people after all trying to go to heaven.

She had a fresh perspective on the world and that perspective had saved her from killing herself or hurting herself somehow.

Happiness?

Was it possible to find?

For her?
