Our love

Chapter 5

(05

Alice seemed to know something. Her eyes were full of pride, probably thinking that being close to Owen gave her an advantage. “Zoey, are you okay with leaving Owen alone? Such a long night…”

Alice covered her mouth shyly, teasing Owen.

“We’re all adults, why wouldn’t I trust him? Besides, Owen is from the Morris family, who would dare to touch him?”

I mentioned the Morris family again, and Owen’s face clearly darkened.

But this time, he didn’t openly lose his temper with me. Ever since he was taken back by the Morris family, the once

good–tempered Owen had become arrogant.

Understandably, a person who went from being an orphan struggling to survive to becoming the most noble young master in Aford

City was bound to change.

That night, Owen coaxed me for a long time, hugging me from behind.

“Zoey, I didn’t consider your feelings before, but entering such a deserted area is really too dangerous. I was worried about you.” “You don’t understand; we’ve got different professions.” I retorted, and Owen’s expression turned extremely ugly.

These were his exact words to me before. He was a famous doctor in Aford City, often invited out to dinner.

Clearly, he could refuse these unimportant social engagements, but he always went, even leaving me alone on our anniversaries.

He said I didn’t understand, that this was part of his duty as a doctor.

“I can support you. With my ability, I can let you be Mrs. Morris without any worries.”

As Owen finished speaking, I was already very impatient. He truly didn’t understand me. I never wanted to be a housewife dependent on him.

Just as we were talking, a scream came from outside the door.

Owen quickly opened the door and went out.

“What happened, Alice?”

“N–nothing, Owen, I just saw a cockroach.”

Alice said it lightly, but she almost threw herself into Owen’s arms.

It was ridiculous. The villa was regularly maintained and better taken care of by the butler. How could there be cockroaches? Owen comforted Alice for a long time. I didn’t know how long it took, but by the time he returned, I was already fast asleep. In the following days, Owen personally cooked for me, but Alice stuck to him.

She also moved in.

I didn’t mind much, planning to move out once my foot fully healed. Who knew that one day Owen would surprisingly decide to

send Alice away?

“This neighborhood belongs to my family, Alice. I had the butler arrange a place for you.”

“But…”

Alice’s face turned extremely ugly. She had been flaunting herself in front of Owen all day.

I knew her intentions all too well, but I didn’t mind. I remained unmoved.

“With you here, it’s inconvenient for Zoey and me. I promised her this would be our little world.”

Hearing his words, I realized he knew all along. Owen had coaxed me into living here, saying this was our love nest where only one

woman would stay.

But later, Alice repeatedly claimed to be scared and found various excuses to move in.

“Owen, I didn’t mean to bother you, but the villa is too big. I’m really scared living alone.”

Alice continued to play the victim, but Owen made arrangements for her. “I found several maids and a butler for you. You don’t

need to be scared.”

“Well… okay.”

Reluctantly, Alice moved out. Owen proudly told me about it.

He said he wouldn’t let Alice’s issues be an obstacle in our relationship anymore.

I smiled, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.
