Chapter 26
Brian didn’t even give her a second glance as he strode out the doors. Soon, he found Stella right by the
entrance.
She was sitting by the roadside and staring at the vase He had no idea what was running in her mind.
Nonetheless, that didn’t stop Brian from approaching her.
Stella instinctively looked up at the source of the noise
Before she could do anything, Brian had her wrist in a firm grip. He didn’t say a word as he tugged her along.
Stella couldn’t help but blink dumbly. “Brian, what are you doing?”
“We’re going home,” he said plainly before stuffing her into the car and driving to the Foley residence.
The two didn’t say a word even when they arrived at their destination. Stella remained silent as she took.
her clothes and went to the bathroom for a shower.
When she left the bathroom, she overheard Brian answering a call.
It was probably Jessica as Brian had said, “I’m not coming over.”
Stella felt her heart clench and decided to ignore it. Then, she lifted the covers and curled under the
blanket.
None of it meant anything to her.
He was no one to her. There was no need to care for him.
After a while, someone had turned off the lights. Brian ended the call and walked toward the bed. Stella could feel the bed sink under his weight as Brian removed his top to lay beside her.
Every breath she took was tinged with his refreshing scent.
Stella felt uncomfortable by their close proximity. So, she instinctively curled into herself further and slept. with her back to him.
“Joseph called earlier. He said you won 2.1 million dollars,” Brian suddenly spoke as he stared at her back.
So, Dr. Sanders was the one on the phone earlier.
Stella merely let out a hum of agreement.
Brian took his phone and said, “He gave the money to me. I’ll transfer it over to your account.”
“They’re all mine?” Although Brian had gambled in her name, he was the one who won the games. So, Stella felt rather bad to take all his winnings.
“It’s all yours.” Brian leaned closer and pressed his chiseled face against her back. It was as if he was trying to please her. “Where should I transfer it to?”

Since he was so close to her, the heady scent nearly got to her.
Stella’s back stiffened and flinched away from him out of discomfort. “Just wire 100 thousand dollars to my PayPal account.”
Brian couldn’t understand why she would only take so little.
Stella added, “I used two million dollars without your permission when I opened a studio with Yelena. Just think of it as me paying you back. So, 100 thousand dollars would suffice.”
Brian’s gaze sharpened upon hearing her words. He had a feeling she was drawing a line in the sand between them.
He said solemnly, “I’m not stopping you from starting a studio. It’s just too tiring for you. If you really want to work as a designer, you can work under Foley Groups design department.
don’t
Alas, she only shook her head and said softly, “No, thanks. Your company dabbles in architecture. What am I supposed to do there? Brian, I’m genuinely thankful for your care in the past. However, you have to worry about me from now on.”
She didn’t want to hear people criticizing her for riding on Brian’s coattails.
Then, she continued, “Yoel wants to collaborate with me. I saw his interview yesterday and he looked capable enough. He probably isn’t a scammer.

One could call her rash but she had decided to work with Yoel after tonight.
Unfortunately, Brian’s face turned stony the second he heard Yoel’s name falling from her lips.
So, he roughly manhandled her and glared at her dangerously. “I’ve already told you that there is no such thing as a free lunch. There has to be a reason behind him giving you terms that are clearly in your favor.”
“Wouldn’t it be nice if he likes me?” Stella tilted her head to look at him with a grin, “Who knows? There may come a time when I’ll be interested in romance. I can try things out with him, then.”
Brian’s expression was pitch black as he growled, “You dare?”
Brian’s gaze was flinty as he stared her down. “You can try cheating on me. Try me.”
“Didn’t you do the same?” The smile on Stella’s lips never wavered as she regarded his frosty facade.” You’ve knocked Jessica up. What right do you have to demand fidelity from me?
Brian didn’t respond to her question. Instead, he replied, “Just continue being Mrs. Foley. No one would dare to lay a hand on you.”
Stella let out a bark of laughter. “But I don’t care for it.”
Brian looked at her with a frown,
The two stared at each other under the cover of darkness.
Brian’s gaze was as deep as the ocean.
It made Stella feel as though Brian actually cared for her. So, she couldn’t help but ask, “Bri, can I ask
you
something?”
