Our Journey Back To Love

Chapter 169

Chapter 169

Stella’s heart sank when she heard this. The reversal for the plagiarism case hit a dead end with Alice’s death. The 500–thousand–dollar compensation for Nas Group would fall on her shoulders alone.

Stella sat there speechless and frozen. Bernard comforted her, “Sorry, I’ve tried my best. In the end, things turned out this way. Stella, how about I pay Nas Group the 500 thousand for you?”

In a daze, Stella heard Bernard offer her 500 thousand. How could she accept it? Bernard fancied her.

There was no such thing as a free lunch. If she accepted it, would she, in turn, become Bernard’s woman? Eventually, she declined, “No need, thanks.”

At 8:30 pm, Stella exited the studio. She stepped into the strong wind blankly, treading through the street of fallen leaves.

Meanwhile, Brian was meeting a client at the clubhouse. Receiving news about Alice, Mike walked into the private room and whispered in Brian’s ear, “Mr. Foley, Alice is dead.”

Brian’s eyes darkened. “Did Stella return to Yolvencrest Estate?”  Sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ Findɴovel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Mrs. Foley didn’t go there.”

Brian thought Stella should be back in the apartment. She had to be feeling down at this time

Distracted, Brian could no longer focus on the meeting. With an apology to his client, he left the

clubhouse in a hurry.

“Mike, to Stella’s apartment,” Brian instructed first thing in the car.

“Okay!”

The car started and soon reached Stella’s apartment. At a distance, Brian glanced at the third floor, only to find Stella’s unit unlit. In a panic, he ran up the third floor and banged on the door.

“Stella, open the door!”

There was no response. Brian called the locksmith straight away. The locksmith arrived before long and

unlocked the door.

Brian hurried in, only to find nobody inside. Did Stella not come back?

Judging by the windy weather, it was bound to rain heavily tonight. Where on earth did she go?

With a frown, Brian told Mike to make a trip to Stella’s studio.

“Mr. Foley, no one is in Mrs. Foley’s studio, Mike reported upon his return. Floor–to–ceiling windows were all around Stella’s studio. Everything was in plain view.

Brian’s face darkened. “Go and check! Find her no matter where she is!” He showed rare impatience.

Where exactly did Stella go? She wouldn’t commit suicide out of despair, would she? Brian was on edge with a lingering fear.

Mike mobilized the national surveillance network to investigate Stella’s whereabouts. Half an hour later,

he hurriedly marched to the car, where Brian sat with a gloomy, chilling look.

“Mr. Foley, Mrs. Foley is found,” Mike reported.

Brian enquired anxiously, “Where’s she?”

“Tarovian Terrace.”

Shocked, Brian clenched his fists. Stella had gone to Tarovian Terrace, where he had its gate chained up.

When they arrived at Tarovian Terrace, the gate remained chained.

Brian asked, “She’s here?”

“Yes.” Mike replied cautiously, “Mrs. Foley got in by climbing over the gate.”
