Chapter 14
Chapter 14
Night had fallen by the time Brian returned home.
Yvonne walked up to him and said, “Mr. Brian, you received a call from Mr. Alfred’s secretary. He requests
your presence with your wife this Saturday evening.”
“I understand. Has Mrs. Foley had her dinner?”
Yvonne replied wit
Yvonne replied with a perplexed look, “Mrs. Foley hasn’t returned since she departed this evening.”
Stunned, Brian hurried up the
stairs. Upon noticing the documents on her desk and the clothes from her
wardrobe had disappeared, his chiseled features hardened with displeasure.
Stella and Yelena dined together in the studio. The latter had bought two dozen bottles of alcohol.
Amidst sips of the drinks, they started discussing the Nas Group.
“Are you serious? Nas Group is the leading brand in the luxury industry. Are they really thinking of collaborating with us?” Yelena said in disbelief.
“I can’t shake the feeling that this is all too smooth,” Stella confessed.
Yelena echoed her concern. “Perhaps, we should be patient and observe a while longer.”
“Agreed,” Stella concurred. After all, it was better to be prudent.
As Yelena glanced at her phone, she gasped in disbelief. “I can’t believe this! That scoundrel, Brian, is making headlines again. The scandal this time is even more atrocious!”
Stella seized the phone and saw a series of blurry images capturing her and Brian from that afternoon.
Feeling speechless, she said, “Are these people crazy? Why are they making up news?”
“How do you know the news is made up?” Yelena asked.
“Because I’m the woman in the car.”
Yelena opened her mouth in shock. “Stellie, what’s happening? How did you get tangled up with that jerk
again?”
“It’s not what you think. I just happened to be in the car at the time. Those paparazzi went berserk chasing us, and we had to dodge them the whole way.”
Yelena absorbed the explanation in silence. “These paparazzi are experts at spinning rumors.” They could conjure a story based on a few blurry pictures.
“Exactly.” That’s why Brian had to keep Stella hidden. He feared that her life would inadvertently be affected if she was revealed to the public.
The internet was abuzz with gossip. Rumors were flying that rich men couldn’t stay faithful, and Brian’s
reputation as a devoted lover had taken a hit. Jessica’s social media was bombarded with comments. Some people mocked her, while others sympathized
Suddenly, Jessica posted on Twitter that she was the woman in Brian’s car. They had just finished dinner and were leaving together, so fans should stop speculating
Her post quickly went viral, and the online commentaries shifted. Suddenly, everyone was offering their congratulations.
“They look so good together! I knew it. Brian waited for Jessica for ten years. There’s no way he’d move on so quickly. I can’t wait for them to officially announce that they’re a couple!”
Official announcement?
Yelena was livid when she saw the statement. She downed a bottle of alcohol and ranted to Stella,” Jessica is disgusting. She claims she was the woman in Brian’s car, and now everyone believes her and is congratulating them.”
“Netizens just love drama. Stella took a sip of her drink, not wanting to get involved, but feeling a bit upset nonetheless.
Yelena, with her fiery temper, couldn’t let it go. She went online and started arguing with the netizens.
“Yelena, stop arguing with those people,” Stella urged, trying to calm her down.
“I just can’t stand that homewrecker’s smug face!” Yelena, visibly drunk, slurred her words as she ranted
online. She called Jessica a mistress and insisted that Brian was married to someone else.
The netizens didn’t believe her and bombarded her with insults and curses. Stella tried to intervene, but
Yelena had already passed out. She slumped over the coffee table, completely unconscious.
Feeling helpless, Stella sighed and grabbed her phone to call Yelena’s boyfriend, Caleb Gough, asking him to come and take her home. Next, she sat on the couch and continued her drink.
Just then, her phone rang. Stella answered, “Hello?”
“Stella, it’s me. I need to ask you something.” Jessica’s gentle voice came through the line.
“What is it?”
“I was wondering, which brand of condoms does Brian usually use?”
Stella was stunned. “What?”
“You used to spend a lot of time with Brian, didn’t you? Don’t you know what brand he uses? He’s staying over tonight, and I want to be prepared, but I wasn’t sure which kind he prefers. So, I thought I’d ask you.”
The purpose of the call was clear–Jessica was asserting her dominance. Stella felt a pang of bitterness. and downed a bottle of alcohol.
Seeing Stella’s lack of response, Jessica continued, “Stella, why aren’t you saying anything? Did my question upset you? But didn’t you always say that you and Brian had no feelings for each other?”
Stella remained silent and ended the call with Jessica. She downed another bottle of alcohol as tears
rolled down her cheeks and stained her dress
As the night progressed and alcohol flowed, bitterness and resentment consumed her. Stella couldn’t stand the thought of Brian being happy. With determination fueled by intoxication, she deleted his number from her block list and called him. She was prepared to unleash her fury.
The call connected swiftly, and Brian answered, “Stella?”
“You worthless scoundrel!” Stella yelled.
Brian’s brow furrowed as he replied, “Have you been drinking?”
“You’re going to have a good time with your mistress tonight, aren’t you, Brian?”
Brian’s expression darkened. “Where are you?”
“What does it matter to you where I am? A deceitful man like you deserves to be castrated!” Fueled by alcohol, she continued her threats.
Brian, perplexed, was in his study. “What are you talking about?”
Growing impatient by Stella’s silence, Brian demanded, “Stella?”
After a pause, a man’s voice broke through the silence, Hello, Mr. Brian, I’m Caleb Gough. I’m here to pick up Yelena. She and Stella got drunk. Do you need assistance in getting your wife home?”
Brian asked, “Where were they drinking?”
“At the studio.”
Brian felt relieved; at least it wasn’t somewhere chaotic “Please take her to Yolvencrest Estate.”
“Certainly.” With that, Caleb hung up.
Half an hour later, Caleb arrived at Yolvencrest Estate, Brian stood in the yard waiting. When the car approached, he glanced inside to find Yelena and Stella, both unconscious in the back seat, leaning against each other.
“Thank you,” Brian said to Caleb. He then opened the car door and carried Stella out. She seemed fragile, light as a feather in his arms. Brian entered the house, ascended the stairs, and gently laid her on the bed.
Stella landed on the bed, feeling dizzy. Just as she tried to turn over, Brian pinned her down, lifting her skirt and delivering a sharp slap to her bottom. “Who gave you permission to drink so much?” he
demanded.
He had always forbidden her from drinking. What if she ran into someone dangerous while she was out this drunk? She could have been taken advantage of.
Determined to make his point, Brian gave her a few more firm smacks. Stella winced in pain and hissed,”
What are you doing?”
“You need to be taught a lesson,” Brian said, his face dark with anger. He raised his hand to strike her again, but she caught his wrist, swiftly turning to face him.
Stella’s eyes, clouded with drunkenness but still beautiful, looked up at him as she mumbled, “Bri?”
Brian was taken aback. It had been a long time since he’d heard her call him that.
