Chapter My Toyboy 217

Chapter 217

Cynthia didn't know how to comfort Preston. She said a lot, but she knew deep down that no one could truly feel what Preston was experiencing. He had to overcome this shadow himself.

And this scene was fully captured by Whitney from a distance. Alier parting ways with Preston, Cynthia went downstairs where Jonathan was waiting for her.

This was where his villa was situated. However, Jonathan didn't live here. The Bennett residence had many courtyards, with each family branch having its compound. If they decided to return to the residence, they stayed in their courtyard.

Cynthia followed Jonathan through the elaborate gardens until they came to a peaceful courtyard. This courtyard had a different style from the rest, featuring a small ancient villa that looked both grand and beautiful.

However, what impressed Cynthia the most was the enormous sycamore tree in the yard. The tree was so huge that its branches seemed to cover the sky, towering far above the mansion's roof. Jonathan even constructed a transparent glass room nestled among the tree's branches.

Cynthia was immediately intrigued and insisted on going up to have a look. There was a wooden suspension bridge that connected the sycamore tree to the master bedroom's balcony on the third floor. Cynthia wobbled as she crossed it.

Soon, they arrived at the door of the glass room, Jonathan opened it, and Cynthia walked inside. The glass room was small, probably only big enough for one or two people. Inside, there was nothing except a bed.

Cynthia lay down immediately. The bed was white, soft, and fluffy, like a cloud of cotton. As she sank into it, Cynthia felt incredibly comfortable..

Cynthia looked at Jonathan, who was standing beside her. "You're something, Jonathan." When Cynthia was little, she read fairy tales and dreamed of having a treehouse in the forest. She didn't expect this dream to become a reality with Jonathan. Jonathan lay down next to Cynthia as well. "Do you like it here??

Cynthia nodded. "Absolutely love it."

Jonathan turned over, with a hint of mischief hidden in his brows. "Shall we stay here tonight?" Cynthia could easily see the mischief in his eyes. She reached out and playfully lifted Jonathan's chin. "Sure, it'll be perfect for stargazing tonight" Cynthia wasn't afraid at all. The place was entirely transparent, and Jonathan was very particular about his privacy. Every time they slept together, he'd draw the curtains tightly shut, even though no one could possibly see inside. Cynthia still couldn't see the stars. She almost forgot they were in the heart of Betrico's downtown. But lying there, gazing outside at the dark blue sky, it looked like an upside-down bowl. The rolling clouds were just as magnificent, endlessly beautiful A bright full moon hung just above the treetops, so close it seemed you could reach out and touch it. Its glow was so pure, like water deansing the world's sins.

Jonathan asked, "What are you thinking about?"

Cynthia was gazing at the night sky while Jonathan lay on his side, supported by an arm, watching her closely.

Cynthia sighed. Tin thinking about how lonely I am."

Jonathan asked, "Feeling homesick?"

Cynthia shook her head. "I don't have a home"

Jonathan was silent for a moment. "Aren't you planning to accept Rachel?" Jonathan thought Cynthia had already moved

past her grievances. The Jones family disappointed Cynthia deeply, leading her to cut family ties in anger.

Even though things had eased up now, it was only due to business interests. The wounds in the heart would never truly heal. Although he knew Cynthia still thought about Selena, it was impossible to return to how things used to be. Before recording the reality show, Cynthia had been staying at the Splendid Garden, living with Rachel. Jonathan thought that Cynthia had accepted her birth mother from the depths of her heart.

Cynthia looked out as the evening wind blew through the clouds, obscuring the moonlight. She calmly said, "Jon, Rachel is not my biological mother.

Jonathan sat up in bed, surprised.

He said, "What did you say?"

Cynthia explained lightly. "Rachel is not my biological mother. I did a DNA test. Maybe it wasn't just Shirley and me who were mixed up back then."

Jonathan's face turned serious, wrapped in a brief moment of shock. "How could this be?" But he quickly regained his calm and said, "Do you want to find your real parents? I can help you

Cynthia shook her head. "I still haven't figured it out." It was not that Cynthia hadn't thought about it. But that private hospital called Harmonious Maternity Hospital had been closed for almost twenty years. The area had long been torn down.

Where the hospital once stood, there was now a school. Those records from twenty years ago were unfortunately lost in a fire during the demolition, completely burned away.

Apart from knowing she was not Rachel's daughter, Cynthia had no other clues. Finding her birth parents was not an easy task. Plus, she wasn't sure if she should even try.

Maybe her birth parents and the child raised in her place were living happily together. She couldn't bear to disturb their peaceful life. Besides, she had no emotional connection with her biological parents.

Jonathan seemed to see right through Cynthia's dilemma. She was the kind of person who'd been through the storm yer still offered an umbrella to others. She'd been overwhelmed by Shirley's presence, her life turned upside down. She didn't want to become another Shirley.

Jonathan lay down and gently pulled Cynthia into his arms. Then don't think about it. Wherever I am, that's your home." Hearing this, Cynthia felt a lump in her throat. Lying in Jonathan's embrace, she somehow felt safe and secure. Yeah, from now on they were going to be family.

Cynthia took out the brocade box that Susanna had just given her. "Mrs. Bennett said this is your family's heirloom, and I should keep it safe, but it's so valuable that I'm scared I might not take good care of it, so you should hold onto it. Jonathan looked at the brocade box, his eyes darkening. "What's mine is yours. Take good care of it. Cynthia wanted to refuse, but Jonathan leaned over and kissed her. "Honey, it's late. Time to get some sleep.

Cynthia couldn't resist his passionate kiss. But when he tried to go further, she hesitated and drowsily resisted. "Hey, aren't you worried someone might see us?"

Jonathan just pulled out a small remote from under the pillow. With a gentle press, the entire transparent glass cover becaine opaque and frosted.

She was surprised. "Jonathan, you

Before she finished speaking, Jonathan's lips had already silenced her, swallowing the rest of her words.

The next day, when she woke up, the sun was already high in the sky. Cynthia felt an ache in her back and waist. But then

she realized something-surprising. She hadn't had insomnia the night before.

It was wonderful to sleep soundly until morning. When she opened her eyes, Jonathan was still sleeping. He had an arm gently draped over her waist.
