Chapter 6
“What? What do you want?” He says with a scowl plastered on his face. His eyes are narrowed at Chloe, but as his eyes land on me, his expression softens.
“We have a situation.” Chloe says and Elliot glances at Chloe briefly before returning to me.
“I see. What’s it got to do with me?” He snaps, but his eyes show warmth, not leaving mine.
“How would you like to influence the world by speaking for the Reds?” Chloe asks in desperation to grab his attention. It works. His head snaps towards her in surprise and his face crumples into another scowl.
“Why should I trust you?” He spits. I step forward.
“Because I am the heir to the throne and I want you to help me.” I say. He blinks. Just once.
“I thought you...” He started.
“So did I. For fourteen years of my life, I thought I was younger than my sister. I thought I was a Red. But apparently I’m older than my twin and I’m a Silver. And the one true queen. And I’m supposed to have advisors, so I’m having on Silver.” I say indicating to Chloe, “And one Red.” I say, looking into his eyes. I can tell what he’s thinking. He’s debating on it. But he doesn’t take long to reply.
“Riiight.” He says. A short response.
“Will you accept the position?” Chloe asks and Elliot refuses to look at Chloe and Queen Leah.
“We understand you are opposed to Lord Warrick Barslow?” Queen Leah asks.
“Yeah, her brother. The one who wants to destroy the world.” He spits, finally looking into Chloe’s eyes and she shivers. Even I feel the harsh, cold glare as an awkward silence arises.
“I promise you, I... I’m not on his side.” Chloe finally says and Elliot scoffs, returning his attention to me. He curtly nods his head to Queen Leah, before kneeling on one knee in front of me.
“You have my services, Lady...?” He hesitates. “They haven’t changed your name from Bekka, have they?” He asks.
“You remembered my name?” I ask in surprise.
“Of course. It’s hard to forget a girl like y... a girl with a name like yours.” He stutters, correcting his words. A hint of a blush forms on his cheeks, but it fades just as quickly as it came.
“I see.” I say with a playful smile. I notice Chloe looking at me and she frowns slightly.
“Yes. Her name is now Lady Olivia Lewis.” Chloe interrupts quickly, trying to keep a blank face. Elliot takes a quick glance at Chloe and a small hint of a smile forms on his face.
“You have my services, Lady Olivia.” I nod in gratitude and he stands up straight.
“You’ll always be Bekka to me.” He smiles, about to take a step forward, but Chloe takes my hand very suddenly and starts to lead me out of the room. “Come, Bekka. We have a lot to do.” She says, quickening her pace as she reaches Elliot. Elliot raises his right eyebrow as I pass him and chuckles. “Bye Bekka.” He says. “Bye E...” I start to say before Chloe rushes me away...
