Chapter 25
“Bekka?” Elliot whispers. I open my eyes and sunlight is pouring through the cave entrance. It’s early morning.
“Yeah?” I whisper back, being careful not to wake the others.
“You knew Isla?” He asked. I nod in response.
“Can you tell me about her? I haven’t known her since I was nine.” Wow... Four years enslaved...
“She was lovely. A bit withdrawn. She never really liked to hang around boys. I always thought she was waiting for the right one.” As I say this, I realise that Elliot is smiling softly.
“And she never expressed her emotions, unless she was happy. She usually would be.” I say.
“Bekka. Do you think we could save her?” Elliot asks me, with a worried expression on his face, and I smile reassuringly.
“I know so.” But the truth is that I don’t know if we can save her. I don’t know if Chloe will stay. I don’t know if Hagatha’s magic will work. I don’t know anything, but that’s how I have to live. As the Red-Bred Queen. Angelica comes in at that point, and smiles.
“It’s time to find out the truth...”
