Once Rejected My Alpha Stepbrother Wants Me Back Chapter 9

Chapter 9

Ashton’s POV.

How was that even possible? I kept asking myself as I ran through the halls, wanting to reach Josie.

Damn, I had believed she was already dead hours ago, only for fate to give me a little twist.

My heart squeezed in my chest at the first sight of her.

She looked different. Not the neglected stepsister I knew before but she looked full in all the right places, even though I hadn’t gotten a better look.

Damn all the consequences, I’d love to see her. Hold her and explain the shit that went down years.

ago.

As I thought about that, my feet hammered harder on the floor as I chased Josie.

I didn’t mind the confused and curious looks I was getting from my employees. I only focused on not letting her step out of my sight again.

I wondered what actually brought her to my office.

I knew I was waiting for those language teachers but right this minute, getting to Josie mattered the

most.

And…

A loud thud hit my ears and I perked up, only to see that Josie had tripped just before the elevator.

 !

Cursing, I increased my pace and rushed to her side. Crouching down, I placed my hands on her biceps.

“Are you okay?” I pressured her with questions.

But Josie was only busy trying to get my hands off of her body.

“Thanks. Please…” She struggled to get up but I held…partly to feel her soft skin and partly to help her.

She stood to her feet quickly and snapped my hands off her body.

Just as she turned, I saw her face very clearly and my knees went weak.

She didn’t look completely elegant but the difference was clear.

Her skin color had enriched, looking completely like olive skin. Her mop of brown hair was fluffy. Damn, it was making me have the strong urge to send my fingers through it.

Chapter 9

Accidentally, my eyes narrowed at her lips…

I felt my wolf rise, wagging its tail while my cock suddenly rose, pitching a tent over my pants.

Her plump lips looked  and knowing that she was biting on it made me want to eat it

 …Josie…

up

all.

I wanted to question her about her disappearance, about her changes but instead, I asked, referring to her lip–biting.

“You do that often?”

Oh, my voice was raw just as I grew hard at the sight of her.

“What? No. I was in the wrong office.” She said, not very aware of how hard she made me feel. “I’m sorry, excuse me.”

She muttered and hopped into the elevator.

The hell! Was I going to leave her to walk away?

Can’t let that happen. Not after bounty–hunting for her for years.

“What brought you here…?” I probed as she turned into the elevator.

Josie ignored me, punching the panel to lock the door on me as I tried to jump in.

“Wait…Josie…” I called out, wanting to put my hands on the doors of the elevator and stop it from moving but the door shut quickly.

“Dammit!” I cursed, my fingers running through my

hair.

My blood was running harshly through my veins and I knew I would get to the end of this.

My teeth clenched as I thought of one other option to get to her faster….

And that happened to be the stairs.

, 100 stairs would be what would lead me to the down floor.

My determination seethed and I braced myself for the run.

But as I tried to hasten towards the stairs, I saw a flyer on the floor.

“The Almac language experts.” Was boldly written on top of the flyer.

Does that mean Josie was the one sent by the company to meet with me?

Cussing. I ran down the hallway and took the stairs, three at a time.

Chapter 9

My heart pounded heavily.

My breath cut with every step I took but I knew I couldn’t let her disappear from my life.

Not anymore.

Josie’s POV

I guess luc

luck was not on my side. If it had been I wouldn’t have met him. My number one enemy!

Now, he was the only client who would determine if I would continue working at Almac or if I’d be fired.

I hate him so much. I hate the fact that I felt something swirl inside me when he held my arms out

there.

His hand sent sparks through my body and I hated it.

He looked more mature than before.

Did I go about sizing him up?

Oh, I’m such a pervert! I howled inside me as my heart raced.

It was so embarrassing when I fell down. But what was more embarrassing was that I wanted his touch on me again.

How could I? After the shits, he did to me?

After he rejected me for my best friend?

Oh, I’m not so foolish.

The thought of that steeled my heart again and I held myself together.

Great, I escaped him. I’ve got to find other means around this. I’ve got to talk to my boss. I can’t work for Ashton Creed.

Once the elevator dinged on the down floor, I paced out of it. Adjusting my plaid skirt, I swallowed

and headed for the exit.

But just as I was about to flutter the door open. I heard someone calling out…

“Wait, Josie!”

Chapter 9

Oh, goddess. Not again. Had he followed me down here? Gosh

I didn’t glimpse his way as I kept my head forward, matching outside.

“Josie wait…” He said huskily and that was when I felt his hand around my wrist. He quickly brought my movement to a halt.

“You can’t just run off.” He stated.

I quickly retracted my hand from his and bared my teeth, my wolf snarling.

I didn’t want him to touch me again.

“That was wrong of me to be there…” I said, only for him to cut me off.

“Was this wrong?” He lifted my company’s flyer, waving it in front of me.

I could get lost in those titanium gray eyes of his but I refuse to.

The way he was sweating told me he ran down the flight of stairs. And the looks he was getting from the passersby on the sidewalk showed he was popular around here.

“Yes. Wrong. I have to go.” I snapped, clutching my bag tightly around me.

“Josie…”

“My name is Rose, please, Mr.” I scowled as I used the honorifics.

Ashton’s brows twitched in confusion but I didn’t care.

“Rose? Is that what you changed your name into?” He asked but I only ignored him.

He had no right to ask such.

“That’s…uh…strange.” His gaze dragged through my body and I felt so conscious. Damn, hell!

“If you’ll excuse…”

“Listen, Jo…Rose. I need a language teacher and from the looks of it, you were the one they sent to

me.”

“I can’t it.” I bit out, hating the look of surprise he was giving me.

“I’m afraid, Ms. Rose, you’re the one I deem fit for the job and I’m calling your boss to seal the deal.”

“You can’t call him. I’m out of here!” I hissed, angry at the whole situation.

He had such power over me before and now it was happening again?

Chapter 9

Goddess no.

Without a second thought, I turned on my heels and ran off.

Working for Ashton would never happen.

I couldn’t let my past thrust into my life now. I have a daughter to take care of…

A secret I’d never let him know about.  Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the FɪndNovᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.
