Once Rejected My Alpha Stepbrother Wants Me Back Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Josie.
I felt so grumbling endlessly, showing just how much hungry I was.
uncomfortable all the while I sat here. My stomach was
No one had paid me a visit. Not even my father. It only meant his decision would stand.
Maybe by dawn or as the moon sits perfectly on the night sky, they’d come for me. And that’d be the moment my fate would be sealed.
Could I die with this baby inside me?
The thought of my unborn child made my wolf to start pacing. Lady thrashed inside me, wanting to get out. She wanted to claw and paw at those seeking to end our life.
Who could have done this to me?
Was it my stepmother?
Questions reeled in my mind but I found no answer. I’m only left blank.
I can’t let my child die. I can’t, I said to my wolf and she stirred. I could feel her rage.
Never in a million years did I think this would be the way my life would end. I never knew the hatred the pack members had for me reached the level where they’d want me dead.
I’ve a father, but I was nothing but a bastard to him.
He gave me life but it was only a life of torture.
However, tonight he’d found out it was about time he cut it short. About time I die.
If only I was given the chance to speak properly. If only he had held me like a father and asked why
I did such.
He was never close to me. I was only a slave to him and a punching bag to the pack members.
I’m a broken princess.
If it were in other cases, I’d say it was about time I died. I’d be happy.
But it wasn’t.
I clutched my belly and rubbed it firmly. Sitting right inside me was a life. A life I hadn’t given a chance to breathe and see the light of day.
I chuckled bitterly, knowing my father wouldn’t even know he was about to have a grandchild.
Chapter 5
Spurred by hatred, I swore on my life tonight, none of the pack members would ever bear a pup if they ended my life as well as my child.
I looked to the moon, wanting to seal my curse.
Yellow Rivers pack would never hear the cry of a newborn pup in this land if I’m killed.
I heard the lightning of thunder outside. My heart shook but within me, I knew just as quickly that the moon goddess had heard my vows.
I crumbled on my feet, drew my legs together over my chest, and rested my arms on it. I felt cold yet happy.
Even if I die, my death would not be in vain.
The force of nature came and I succumbed to it, closing my eyes, I dozed off.
Several hums of conversations pulled me away from sleep and I rose to my feet.
“Where are the noises coming from?” I wondered, wanting to climb the window and sneak a look.
I reached over the broken chair and perched it over the wall and then I tried to clamber on it.
Oops….
I screamed as I fell shamefully on the floor.
“Ouch…” I belted out in pain, rubbing my ass.
“Haha…you didn’t know you were too short or what?” My wolf taunted me and pouted.
“Lady, you don’t have to remind me. Thankfully, the fall already did so.” I snorted at her.
She snickered inside and I blocked her off.
My only strategy of finding out the truth had crashed and I just buried my ass on the floor and continued sleeping.
Even though I tried to hurry back and sleep, it didn’t come. The noises seeping in from outside gave me no reprieve.
“Ughhh…” I grumbled, allowing my wolf to come forward again.
I’d rather have her speak to me, maybe taunt me than hear the screeches from outside without

knowing what was actually being said.
In the middle of my banter with my wolf, I heard the clomping of footsteps. Is someone coming towards the basement?
I rushed to my feet, hoping I was about to be saved.
Only, it was my father, two council members, and a bodyguard.
Fear melted inside me and raced down my spine.
“Open it up!” He ordered the guard.
The door was flung open and the guard stumbled inside.
My brows arched when I saw him holding a collar.
What’s that for? My wolf asked.
I shrugged, dread consuming me as the guard neared me.
“Lock her up.” Came the voice of one of the councilmen.
I tried to leap away but the guard blocked me.
Instantly, my wolf came forward as the sounds of resetting bones were heard.
I dropped on my fours quickly and lunged at the guard.
Being a lycan wolf, he didn’t need full transformation. He only half turned and defended himself from my attacks.
“Stop this minute!” My father roared and my wolf paused, unmoving.
It breathed heavily, her eyes dimming as her body shook with rage.
I heard footsteps coming over and appearing before me was my own father.
He released the guard from his alpha order. Then my wolf watched tentatively as he clutched the collar from the guard and pranced over to me.
“Today. I alpha Incas of the Yellow Rivers pack reject you as my daughter…”
My wolf thrashed. He was declaring me a rogue?
Oh, he’d rather kill me as a rogue than as his daughter?
A drop of tears escaped my eyes at that revelation.
My wolf’s hind legs swept over the floor in submission.

And my father used that opportunity to clamp the collar around my neck.
As he stepped away, I turned back into my human form, my shoulders shuddering as I wailed, crying out.
I gasped, sitting up from the floor as a summoning howl was made. The alpha was calling on all members of the pack to gather.
In that instant, I knew it was about time.
I readied myself as I stood up.
One thing I promised myself was that I’d never shed a single tear as I was about to be executed.
One last time, I rubbed my belly, feeling the precious life inside of me.
Just then, pounding footsteps on the floor told me they were coming.
Of course, this time I could not shift because the collar they shackled me with had Silver and wolf wolfbane in it.
The guards tugged the basement doors open, stepped inside, and arrested my biceps.
We took the hallway, walking several long steps before we emerged before the murmuring crowd.
My body was drenched with humiliation as everyone looked at me, some with disgust, others with mockery.
Not wanting that, I looked at the ground.
I was led up to the platform where the guillotine sat.
My heart sank as I imagined how the sharp edge of the saw would cut through my neck.
It brought tears in my eyes but I vowed not to let it out.
Then, my father stood before the pack.
“The lady before you committed a felony. And as you all know, such acts were only punishable by death. However, I’m glad to bring to your notice, that Josie would die as a rogue rather than as a pack member.”
Turning on his heels, he looked over at me and dropped the words. “I hereby declare her death!”
Chapter 5
The guards clutched my hands quickly, releasing the collar and chains to put me under the sharp edges of the guillotine but some noise rose in the crowd.
Everyone tensed as someone involuntarily turned into her wolf.
Startled, I looked confusingly at the crowd but then someone tugged my hand.
“Follow me, Josie. Now.”
Surprisingly. I looked behind and saw the head servant, Amber.
In my state of shock, I silently sidled away from the platform and followed her.
In record time, we found ourselves in the woods, running as fast and far as I could.
“We have to turn!” She told me.
“I can’t.” I bellowed.
The silver and wolfbane’s effect still lingered, making it impossible for me to shift.
“Oh, dear…” She cried out.
We heard my father’s warriors howling as they chased after us.
Before long, Amber crouched on the ground and transformed into a mottled brown wolf.
She gestured for me to climb on her back and I did so.
And we took off, running until we got to the roadside.
She paused and I got off, allowing her to transform back into her human form.
“My job here is done. You need to run.” She told me, breathing heavily.
I didn’t have the time to question her, I only nodded, thanked her, and turned on my heels as I continued running.

When I came out onto the road without looking, a car crashed into me.
“Shit!” I heard when the driver cursed and

got outside.
“Please, help me. They’re coming for me.” I cried out.
“Who are they?” He asked but the howls coming through the woods told him what he needed to
know.
Instantly, the stranger took me to his car and sped off into the city.

A place I’ve never been to before.
But I knew at that moment, the moon goddess had allowed me the opportunity to start a new life.
One that would not include Ashton.
I swore on my life, that not even Ashton would ever see me or my child.
