Once Rejected My Alpha Stepbrother Wants Me Back Chapter 33
Chapter 33
Ashton’s POV
I drove away from the hospital, letting other doctors take over and I made my way to Hell’s
Kitchen.
Parking my car outside, I went in through the back door.
Indeed, they were short–staffed.
I know my mother had five chefs but only one was there, already looking tired.
“Good day, alpha.” She greeted and I nodded in response, moving into my mom’s office.
Yikes, everywhere was in tatters.
Flour littered the floor, chunks of butter were over the cabinet, and vegetables were kept in a bowl. by the corner.
My mother was seated behind her desk, roaming her eyes over the cookbook before her.
Hearing my footfalls, she raised her head and locked her eyes on me.
“Oh. Ashton. You’re a savior, my boy.” She grinned. Standing up, she fluttered her arms around me, hugging me tightly.
“Why is everywhere messed up?” I asked with an arched brow,
“Where do I begin?” She hummed, clamping her hands over her waist. “I have about twenty reservations and I’m also preparing meals for an alpha who has a business meeting with his foreign. clients here. You see? Too much work.”
I took pity on her. But then asked again. “So what happened to the rest of the staff?”
“Flu broke out, and they all contacted it except, Emma.” She stated abruptly.
“That sucks.” I rolled my eyes.
“Sure, it does. Can you go to the kitchen and help Emma with the dishes, son?” She said, gesturing
toward the kitchen.
Before I left though, I leaned close to her and asked. “Any news about him?”
Her sharp eyes shot up and pinned on me. “Ashton. I wouldn’t want to discuss that. Not now.” She
waved me off.
With a grit to my teeth, I got on my feet and rolled up my sleeves. It had been a while ae saw the last alpha and it made me wonder if Josie had ever spoken with her father.
Chapter 33
I don’t know why my mother refuses to speak about him. Don’t know the secret she was hiding. I’m just concerned if Josie had reconciled with him which made me leave the pack when he did.
My hand cupped the doorknob about to twist it open when my mother’s voice sounded.
“Lena is worried about you. Have why you called?”
I gave her back her own words. “I wouldn’t want to discuss it. Not now.” I stepped outside and slammed the door shut.
In the kitchen, I helped Emma with the dishes that never seemed to end. It made me annoyed though.
As the dishes were about to finish, my mother stepped outside.
I left the baked chicken in the oven. I’m sure it must have done by now.” She said to no one in particular, bringing out the baked chicken from the oven.
I watched her plate it along with other orders when she turned to me and said.
“Ashton please, table ten.” She grinned, handing it to me.
“Wait, I’m going to serve too?” I snarled.
“Sure, boy. That’s
what this is about.”
With a pout to my lips, I took the tray from her and hightailed outside…
***Josie’s POV***
I got to Hell’s Kitchen right on time and there, I saw Jane sitting in one of the booths, sipping her
milkshakes.
“Hey, Rose. Thanks for coming, huh.” She piped up, rubbing my back as we hugged.
She looked pensive and kept tapping her feet on the floor. Her eyes continued an inward and outward movement around the restaurant and outside of it.
I grew worried and clasped her hand with mine.
“Jane, what’s wrong?” I asked, turning my voice down,

She visibly exhaled a long breath. Then. “It’s a long story, Rose. I don’t think you’d believe me.” She whispered.
“What happened? Did you do something?” I asked.
Instead of asking, her eyes dropped on the ring sitting on my finger.
“Wait. you’re wearing the ring?” She blurted.
I had actually forgotten about it. I considered lying or going for the truth. The latter was already at the tip of my tongue, so I let it out.
“Yeah, I used it to deceive someone today.” I let out.
Jane’s brow creased in curiosity. “Who was that?”
I relaxed back on the seat and whispered. “Ashton.” I blinked and she did too, as if finding it hard to
assimilate the words she said.
“You mean, the hot doctor?”
I nodded and she hummed lightly under her breath.
“That says something.” She crossed her fingers together on the table and asked. “Are you guys trying something out?”
“What? No!” I nearly screamed, to her surprise. I threw a look around and found out no one was looking at us. I tuned my voice and said.
“That’s not it, okay.”
“Then what?” She probed, looking serious.
“Ashton’s just trying to work his way back into my life…” I bit out.
Jane rolled her eyes and spat. “That definitely says something. So the playboy wants you back, now?” she smirked.
“That’s what you and Tessa thought about when you handed me those ‘ me dresses, is it not?” I intoned, lowly.
“You won’t blame girls wanting to look out for their single friend, will you?”
I scoff with an eye roll.
“Enough about me, now. Tell me what happened?”
While Jane readied herself to speak, a chef came out from the kitchen to take our order.
It surprised me that a chef was taking orders. Come to think of it, the restaurant looked short-

staffed. The famous Hell’s Kitchen was brimmed with workers, what was happening now?
I ordered baked chicken and spicy stew whereas Jane went for Knafe. I haven’t tried that but most people on this side of the town love eating that Middle Eastern cuisine.
When the chef went away, we started discussing.
“Well, I’ve been hooking up
up with my
boss.”
My eyes went owl–wide at her admission and I asked.
“For how long?
“For….a year, now…” She pouted, feeling ashamed.
“That’s new to me,” I said casually and she continued.
“So, three months ago, things escalated with him spilling that he loves me. That same night, Rose, he proposed. Of course, I said yes. I mean that’s what every girl wanted right?”
I nodded.
“Well, it turned out a different story when I heard the truth two weeks ago that he’s already mated and has five children. I felt so hurt, Rose.” Jane’s eyes began to water.
My heart went out to her and I got on my feet and went to hold her hand. “It’s okay. Don’t beat yourself up, girl.” I hummed, wanting to placate her.
“I called off the engagement and told him I was done. But I wanted to keep the ring, Rose because I still love him. I just…” Now she was crying, making me squeeze her arms, rubbing circles at the small of her back.
“He’s not worth your tears, Jane.” I crooned.
“You don’t get it, Rose. I still love him no matter what…”
“Trust me I do,” I whisper, caressing her quaking shoulders.
I sure understand
what she felt because I’m equally in that same shoes. Look at me still feeling things for Ashton after what he did to me those years ago.
Today, I let him feel me. Let him put his head between my legs, a place no other man had ever sniffed for
years.
I told myself I hated him, everything about him but I couldn’t help wanting him to touch me again
To hold me.
For real, I could relate to Jane’s story and feelings, because that’s

me and my ex–inate.
I swore oll men but did that include Ashton?
, even whispering his name in my head pull at my chest. My feelings for him pull me to him. like the gravity. It is magnate,
“But be asked that I return his ring if I can’t be his second mate
I frown at the rude words of the man. He didn’t even feel sorry for the pain he caused her.
Men!!!!
In my state of anger, I blurt. “If I were you, Jane? I’ll never return to him again!!”
Just as I said that a familiar scent wafted into my nose. Then..
“Hello, ladies.”
Jane and I gazed up, and my hazel eyes connected that gorgeous titanium gray eyes.
What was he doing here?
To be continued…..
