Once Rejected My Alpha Stepbrother Wants Me Back Chapter 15

Chapter 15

Josie’s POV

It had been two days since our visit to the Rated 18 club and things seemed to have gone back to normal. At least that was what I thought.

But I couldn’t get over the idea of what had occurred back there that night. I couldn’t stop worrying if Dahlia was still alive or dead.

Neither could I

stop thinking about where I had gotten such scary powers.

Throughout that night and the following morning, my wolf had gone into a coma, not showing up and I didn’t know why..

I’d tried to reach it but it wasn’t working.

Diego had taken care of me that night. I was surprised to see him lying on the sofa near my bed when I woke up.

Of course, he had asked me what caused the nosebleed I had but I just told him I overworked myself.

Thank goddess he bought that.

Two days since then, Diego hadn’t missed dropping by.

The tension between us was rising but I couldn’t understand why.

Just yesterday, he got dinner for Aria and me, and he made sure to eat with us before leaving.

The man was…trying. However, that wasn’t my problem yet.

I wanted to check up on Dahlia and I didn’t know how to reach her.

“Oh, great. The receptionist. I bet she’d know much about her. Or many give me her number or contact address.” I thought to myself.

I walked outside of my room and went into the kitchen where I had dropped my phone on the coffee table this morning while I was making breakfast for Aria.

I settled on the stool and then fished out the number of the receptionist at Almac.

Biting my lower lip, I waited for her to answer.

“Yes, this is Almac Language”

“Hi, Inna. This is um….Rose.” Iintercepted her words and she stopped.

“Rose…?”

Chapter 13

Yes, it’s me.”

I heard her take in a gulping breath. Then. “How may I help you?” She asked.

“Please can I get Dahlia’s

home address or contact number?”

“Dahlia went on a leave of absence. Any problem?” She asked.

“Uh…yes, we have an unfinished business,” I stated.

She scoffed and then said. “Fine. I’ll see what I can do.”

I let out the breath I held. Great. If she sent both I’d go check up on her.

I couldn’t leave Dahlia after what happened.

The house looked a bit unkempt and I decided to put it back in order.

I was mopping the living room when my phone buzzed.

I dropped the mop and hurried over

Great, I sighed with relief.

She had sent both her contact number and home address.

I wiped my hands quickly and dialed her number.

There, the robotic woman’s voice came in, saying the number was switched off.

“Dammit.” I cursed.

“You know what? I’m going to visit her.” I muttered to myself and then I continued mopping.

Hours later, I wore a dress that stopped just below my knees. I tied a scarf over my face and took my bag.

As I got outside, I checked the address again and from what I was seeing, she lived in a neighboring pack.

Sighing, I boarded a cab and went away.

It wasn’t about two hours later did the cab driver arrived in a slum area I hadn’t ever laid eyes on.

Was this where she lived?”

Chapter 15

I thought to myself as I took in the environment.

This must be a ghetto but Dahlia never looked like someone from this part of the city.

“Are you sure, this is the place?” I asked the driver and he grunted a ‘yes.

Wearily, I got out of the car and paid him.

I have this weird feeling about this place already.

The buildings here had several spray paint carving designs I didn’t understand on it. I looked ahead. and I saw a narrow alley, leading to the apartment where the receptionist said she lived.

Then I took cautious steps forward, heading to the stairs of the apartment. When I got to her floor, I knocked gently on the door.

Surprisingly, the door opened to reveal an old woman.

But that wasn’t what made me gasp. It was the huge man behind her.

“Uh…hi.” I muttered. The scary, hulking man stepped forward, his frame dwarfing the old woman.

“What do you want?” He boomed.

Goddess, Flost my speaking ability quickly at the sound of his harsh voice.

Manageably, I got myself in check and asked.

“Is Dahlia around?”

A sarcastic smile lifted his lips. “Who still asks about her?”

His words got me confused and my brows formed a deep V.

“Excuse?” I asked.

“Dahlia is long gone. She died after she got banished for framing the alpha.” He stated.

My heart sank at the news. How was that even possible?

I heard him scoff again and I brought my gaze to his.

“Is that too hard to get?”

“No. Uh. It’s okay. Thanks for giving me responses.”

He sneered at me. Damn, the look on his face scared the living light outta me.

I took a step backward

and then another.

With his eyes on me, I twisted on my heels and began rushing outside.

Does that mean…she wasn’t Dahlia?

I didn’t get this shit

Who was the woman pretending to be Dahlia?

Questions sprung through my head and I couldn’t seem to get a particular answer.

I swallowed the huge bile in my throat and then…

I popped back into the alley.

I was still drenched in my thoughts when I heard the low growl behind me.

My pulse slammed against my ears and I started getting jumpy.

What was that?

Slowly with gasping breath, I turned around and there stood a huge gray wolf with the darke:

eyes

I froze instantly as my eyes captured his sharp canines that looked as if he had finished teari flesh now.

“Oh,  . I’m doomed…” I muttered under my breath.

As the wolf drew closer, my feet backpedaled. I held on strong to my bag, blinking rapidly.

Lady..please…c’mon, I pleaded for my wolf to surface but it was fruitless.

My gaze pinned on the wolf’s lethal eyes and it made me almost pee on my pants.

Just then, it snapped.

The wolf ran hastily towards me and a scream tore from my lips.

Turning back to face the front, I ran through the alley.

It seemed lonely and it dawned on me that this would be my last time on Earth.

Goddess, I didn’t get to say goodbye to my daughter.

Oh, geez.

My life shouldn’t  end like this.

I alternated between gasping for breath and screaming.

My feet pounding incessantly on the floor.

Chapter 15

I forced myself to turn but my wolf remained nonexistent.

I swerved around a junction, taking another path to goddess knows where.

Of course, I didn’t know my way around here. How would I?

It was impossible to know my way around given how tight everywhere was looking.

I said my last prayers seeing I was penetrating a dark path where no one would find me.

I looked behind and saw the wolf jumping past the dumpster filled with rubbish.

The look on his face was intense and it screamed kill.

Turning to my front again, I thinned my lips.

It was indeed my last.

I dived into what looked like an old ambulance bay, behind an old–looking hospital.

It was dark here and I knew I truly had entered the wolf’s den.

Thinking of continuing my run, I sped past the damaged car by the corner, aiming to run past it and head to the tiny exit by the other side.

Only, my feet hit on something and I crashed to the ground.

“Ouch!” I whimpered as the pain sizzled through me.

I brought my hurting foot up, clutching it as I massage the pain away.

“What was the need anyway?” I muttered to myself, referring to my foot which I was massaging.

It wasn’t necessary, given I’m just about to die now.

As I conceded the thought, the wolf pounced into the bay and growled.

I watched as it ran fearlessly towards me and I reflexively shut my eyes.

I cupped my arm over my face to shield my eyes from seeing the wolf sever my body apart.

I stood in wait for the pain but it didn’t come.

However, I heard a thudding sound and a growl of protest.

Curiosity ripped through me and I sneaked a peek through the crack of my arm…

There stood a man in a plain shirt and faded jeans. I couldn’t see his face really because his back faced me. Looking through the gap between his toned legs, I spotted the wolf bowing in submission.

Chapter 15

The hell?

How could a fiery wolf like that submit to this man?

I staggered to my feet, wheezing a breath at the snippet of pain I felt from where my foot hit the pole.  S~ᴇaʀᴄh the (ꜰind)ɴʘvel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Through the glimpses of sunlight, I saw his face and my calm wolf stirred immediately.

No, it can’t be…
